The Midlands Reading Consortium is committed to ensuring every child can read on grade level by the end of third grade, a critical milestone for lifelong success. By bringing together educators, volunteers and community partners, the program delivers tutoring, literacy resources and support where they’re needed most. This collaborative effort helps close learning gaps and opens doors to brighter educational outcomes for local students.
Young Men United is a dynamic group dedicated to mentoring, leadership development and strengthening communities through service. Focused on supporting young men and boys, this initiative provides opportunities for growth, connection and positive role modeling. Members engage in volunteer efforts and advocacy, helping to create pathways for success and empower the next generation.

The Young Leaders Society (YLS) empowers emerging professionals to make a difference through philanthropy, volunteerism and community engagement. YLS members lend their voices, skills and energy to support United Way’s mission while building meaningful connections with like-minded peers. Women in Philanthropy unites passionate women who are committed to creating lasting change in the Midlands. Through collective giving, advocacy and service, members support programs that uplift women, children and families in need. This powerful network not only strengthens the community but also inspires leadership, generosity and a shared vision for a better tomorrow.

School readiness is vital to long-term success. We fund programs for children that maintain and improve their academic performance and get them reading by third grade. We also fund skill-building programs for adults.
