Did you stumble upon your career or was it something that you always wanted?

Well i think i have always known what i wanted to do. To make the world a beautiful and better place. Being a dermatologist helps me do that. I am able to make my clients happy and feel good about themselves, which makes me feel good.

What was your “aha!” moment?

I always wanted to do medicine and aesthetics but my aha moment was when I realized that I can bring joy and happiness in people’s lives and there was no looking back. The feeling you get after giving something that your clients want, is just unexplainable.

Did you ever consider or experience a career change?

Never! I love my job and my job loves me. You should be passionate about what you want to do, if you love what you do you wont feel like youre waking up everyday for a job.

What is #1 thing that is yet to be ticked off your bucket list?

Oh, that would be swimming with dolphins. Its always been a dream.

What does nobody tell you about being the boss?

A boss is not born; it’s made out of hard work. In order to be successfull you need to work your way up. Rome wasnt built in a day!

Name on boss lady that you admire and how she still inspires you?

Benazir Bhutto, her courage and strength amd her style.

When was time you felt completely discouraged and how did you push through it?

I would never allow myself to fall. Alhamdulilah never had a negative moment in my life. I can always cross fire in search of greener pastures ahead. Always be positive, then you will attract positivity.

What was the best advice that your mentor gave you?

The best advice given to me was, gratitude, gratitude and more gratitude.

What are the top 3 things you cherish in your life?

Life itself is to be cherished. However my top ones are, health, family and friends.

Describe a day in your life.

My day includes getting up early in the morning, working out, having my simple home cooked food and the best part of my day is getting to see my patients, treating them and thanking God for a bright and busy day.

To me a boss lady is one who aims for the galaxy not the stars.

What did you learn from your

biggest failure?

There is no success without failure. It is a part of success. In order to riseyou have to fail a few times and then learn from your mistakes.

Of course none other than Imran Khan.

What advice would you give to young girls out there who have dreams and goals like yours?

Be creative and not perfect – do the best job you can. Make it a life you always wanted to live.

Mehfil e Moseeqi Lahore Music Meet Team – Natasha Noorani, Zahra Paracha

Since 2015, the Lahore Music Meet has become a unique platform for artists to come together and partake in performances as well as meaningful conversations regarding the music enterprise, education and academia. The LMM, which is now in its fifth year running, started off as the labor of love of Natasha Noorani and Zahra Paracha who endeavored to enrich the growing Pakistani music community. What makes the LMM even more fantastic is that it is entirely women-led with Festival Directors Natasha Noorani and Zahra Paracha, Sana Nasir as Art Director and Munizeh Sanai as Creative Director. Bravo to the team!

First, can you tell us a little about yourselves and how you two founded this unique idea of the Lahore Music Meet?

We're both musicians who were in college together and started the festival in our final year with the aim of creating a musical community and collecting research for our undergrad dissertations.

What is the concept or genesis of the Lahore Music Meet?

Considering how fragmented the music industry has been in the past few decades, the idea was to create a space where musicians (of every caliber) could come together and connect and network in an attempt to mend the fractures within the music scene of Pakistan. It also serves as a space to showcase artists that don't necessarily fit the mainstream mold. For 5 years, we have showcased only Pakistani talent to audiences.

The LMM is in its fifth year running, what has inspired you to continue running this two day festival?

There's alot of wonderful feedback to the event and tangible changes that we can see within the industry. We've seen musicians meeting each other at LMM and making bands or collaborating and just generally watching the musician community grow.

What are your expectations for the event this year, in terms of attendance and otherwise?

We're definitely expecting our dedicated LMM fans who attend every year but beyond that we're excited to see some new faces! We're also excited to see alot of the new bands performing and how audiences will react to them! Other than that, we never really know an LMM is going to turn out till it's done.

Do you feel the local music scene in Pakistan receives enough recognition?

Not at all. With only a handful of journalists and no music TV channels or record labels, local music has yet to be tapped into in a more nuanced way and brought to a wider audience. However, more initiatives have come up in the last 5 years that have been steadily building towards it so we're hopeful.

Do you think the platform you have provided helps local artists gain more recognition for their work?

We hope so! One of the salient features of our curation is that we try to pair different acts together so that someone who listens to qawwali has to listen to djent and someone who listens to pop-rock had is exposed to Balochi folk music.

How have you used social media to promote the festival?

Since advertising is costly and we work on tiny budgets, we really heavily on social media to propel our great design and terrible puns into the world! Every year we develop campaigns in Urdu and English focusing on local music and artists.

What would you say is the one defining characteristic of the LMM year after year?

Every LMM has been extremely different. We always have a fresh line-up and no two artists or sessions are ever the same.

The only thing that remains constant are the jhandiyaan.

Tell us a little about the artists that have been lined up for the fifth edition of the LMM, and what your audiences are to expect this year?

We've got a wonderful assortment of genres including khayal gayaki, indie folk, rap and electronic. Every artist and speaker in the lineup has been carefully chosen and placed in the programming for them to showcase the most important part of the festival: music.

What are some of the performances to watch out for this year?

All of them!

What are some of the biggest challenges you have faced in the past few years?

Security issues and funding.

Any surprises attendees can expect at the LMM this year?

If there are any surprises, we'll find out when they do!

Of course the Niagra falls that’s the most famous tourist spot. The Blue Mountain Ski Village is the perfect place If you like to ski. You can even spend the weekend and wake up to the beautiful mountains.

Canada’s winter wonderland is definitely a family day out and a fun place for all ages.
