FEATURING ÉLAN - FESTIVE COLLECTION

ready, set, style! th is week yas meen hashmi s tyles four ĂŠ lan festive collecti on ou tfits & makes them her very own!

Winter's gone but trailing shirts and long jackets are here to stay. The shirt- a classic cut with a simple white chori daar pants and tassel belt. Since silver and Metallics are making a comebackfor accessories I stuck to pointy silver heels, a croc-skin metallic clutch and, long metallic tassel earrings- to help elongate my neck. Layering fabrics has been big on international runways so I let my dupatta drape one shoulder to enhance the overall classic look. With this kind of cut and stylingMahzufria pays tribute to the old world by integrating modern day vivacity.

Easy breezy and cool, with white and blue-on-white embroidery on net fabric- Nurbanu's color palette keeps it minimal yet fresh. A pop of yellows, lilacs and reds in the silk dupatta with a cold shoulder angarkha cut of the shirt- pairs best with big, chunky blue earrings, metallic wedges and clutch. Easily my favorite look for lunch.

The opulence of Sehzade lies in the details of its oriental embroidery. In hues of ebony and pinks- the peacock motifs on the net dupatta are best accentuated with a vibrant pop of color in the neck- with a long, fuchsia tassel necklace. Sapphire offers cool options of Turkish and oriental style jewelry- I picked their popular, transparent flower earnings and a chunky mother of pearl ring. Furthermore, this uber glam outfit deserves some fab heels, so I mixed it up with lilac sparkle kitty heels to do it justice. Since the weather is so hot- I stuck to a strong middle part with nude lips and a light smokey eye to complete the look!

Sometimes all you need to do to is put a belt on it! Najila- from ĂŠlan's festive collection, is chic because of the geometrical details on the fabric and the bold color combination of the motifs. Paired with a red Chloe, sapphire pearl earrings and pointy from Kurt Gieger black heels- this is easily the perfect look for an evening out during Eid.

Beautiful you!

BY HAJIRA ASFANDYAR

To those who need it the most and have the least amount of time; Hajira shares beauty hacks to help out fellow mothers, working women, busy housewives and students in distress!

LIPSTICK FOR EVEN LIPSTICK APPLICATION, START AT THE CUPID’S bow and extend out to the corner of mouth before bloting. EYE SHADOW Prep lides for any eye look with a matte base shadow that matches the lightest part of your face.dust the pigment all over lids and up to the brow bone. EYE LINER Instead of looking straight ahead at the mirror, get as close to it as possible, tilt your head up, and bring your chin toward the mirror. HIGHLIGHT Never put concealer or foundation on your eyelids as base , it will cause your eye makeup to crease. BLUSH When applying blush, smile , then dust the apples of your cheeks, then sweep pigment towards the top of ears, then down toward the jawline. EYEBROW trace brow pencil or powder along the tops of brows for an instant facelift.

10 questions in 10 minutes with shehzeen

WWW.THEDESIWONDERWOMAN.COM | INSTA @ SHEHZEENR

1. Tell us how you became a fulltime blogger? I started blogging casually and very randomly. I’ve always loved to write and have been writing pieces since my childhood so it felt like something very regular to do. Though my initial intent was to do it non-seriously, it started getting a lot of traction and I realized I enjoyed it way more than my regular corporate job and could turn it into a self-sustaining medium. So I invested all my time and energy into it and took it full-time. Four years down, happily blogging as a career. 2. At what point did you first realize your blog is influential? I realized I have the trust of people – not influence - when I started doing small brand collaborations and they generated enough sales for most brands to keep coming back. It helped me talk about stuff I loved, create entertaining content for people who were taking the time out to visit my blog and also create a financial winwin for both the brands and me. This was about six months into the blogging game – it wasn’t self-sustaining at that time but enough to make me take it full-time. 3. What sets you apart from other bloggers and gives you followers? I’m not a fan of comparison. It’s not because of the ‘I only compete with myself’ cliche - I just 54

10 QUESTIONS IN 10 MINUTES

meet the girl behind the desi wonder woman blog don’t enjoy pitting myself against other humans and I don’t value ranking of any kind in my life (best hair/looks/brains/ bleh). I love ‘average’, I support ‘average’. But I do love this tiny community of bright and spirited people that I’m a part of through my blog and I think that’s what resonates with whoever chooses to ‘follow’ me. 4. What bores you? The incessant Game of Thrones happening on the gender equality discussion – it’s become very old to be honest. It’s time everyone broke up with their ignorance and/or put their egos down and accepted that supporting women’s rights is supporting human rights. It’s as simple as that. It’s cool to be on the side of humanity, let’s just all try to be cool. 5. If you wake up to find yourself completely invisible, what are the first two things you would do? Slip into the house of whoever my single-and-uncommitted celebrity crush is at that time and put my pictures up everywhere. Then release the paps on him. That should be interesting. 6. What superpower would you want, if you could have any? Teleportation. I could see people I love, wherever they were, within seconds and smother them with inappropriate amounts of affection. 7. Blogging means sharing a lot that's going

personally in your life, do you draw lines between your personal life and blogging? How do you handle that? Absolutely. The blog is in any case just about 20% of my life, not all of it. With a lifestyle blog like mine, it may appear that you’ve put everything out there, but as long as you understand what to control and filter, you can draw lines and not even have to talk about what you’re not sharing. I don’t blog to explain what I’m not sharing, I only blog about what I have decided to share. I know exactly what never goes online and that’s enough for me. After doing this for four years, I’m now a (self-acclaimed) pro at filtering stuff without anyone realizing I’m slipping things out. 8. Two must haves in your bag? The real, snooze-inducing answer is my wallet and house keys. The fake and less boring answer for an interview is a healthy, nutritious snack and a can’t-live-without-type, ultra moisturizing hand cream (secret wish list). 9. What’s up next for your blog? Lots of exciting stuff – a bunch of fun Ramzan content, a room makeover and happy collaborations with some brands that I love. 10. Any tip to aspiring bloggers? Just be yourself. It’s great to be inspired by others – that’s how we all grow - but it’s always best to not emulate and simply find your own voice. When you can be yourself, it doesn’t feel like a chore and you end up generating the best content. 2017
