husn e kham Zarmisha Dar’s new collection ‘Husn-eKham’ comes straight out of simplicity and pure lines, which goes back to minimalism. There is an undeniable purity to this collection, with its mid-calf hemlines, full A-line silhouettes, structured peplums and covered-up arms and shoulders. With its exquisite workmanship and aura of art-history-tinted romance, Husn-eKham aims to dress a modern day, dreamy bride. Flame red and saffron yellow give the collection a dash of warm intensity, contrasting with more fragile tones of peach, aqua and gold.

jootishooti
mehak elahi chats with amal hayat, the force behind jootishooti. read all what she has to say.. What inspired you to start your own shoe line? JootiShooti happened to be literally the most spur of the moment idea. I have always had a more than a “normal” obsession with Truck Art and came across different truck art inspired products, but never truck art inspired footwear. After recently moving to Karach and having some free time on my hands, I decided to bring my old khussa’s back to life and decide to fuse it with my alltime favourite truck art. Gradually, the idea became a hit and thus, JootiShooti came into existence. Tell us more about JootiShooti? At JootiShooti, just like our name, we like to add a little twist to the good ol’ khussa’s. We created our own Cinderella story by pairing art and tradition in a way never done before. We believe in drawing from our roots and heritage by using Khussa’s as our canvas, supporting only our local artisans & creating something that is contemporary, wearable and oh, so comfortable! What trends do you keep in mind while designing your shoes? Well, we do our research on the latest trends, the materials that can be experimented with along with what our customers are fond of. All of it goes into deciding our shoe designs. Other than that, seasonal changes are also crucial for our business-summer is more about open faced shoes whereas in winter closed shoes such as khussa’s and lace-it-ups are a great preference.
What is one of the biggest challenge you faced in establishing JootiShooti? Being an online based business, it isn’t possible for our customers to try on their Jooti’s before purchasing them. Catering to various foot sizes and shapes on an online platform has been a challenge honestly. However, our flexible exchange policy has helped a lot with that and has made it convenient for both of us and our customers. Which one of your shoe designs is your favourite? All of them have their own place in my heart. However, my new favorites are the latest collection of denim khussa’s that we recently launched. They compliment almost all of my outfits and I can’t stop showing them off! If you could make a celebrity wear your shoes to who would it be? Jooti Shoot has been lucky enough to be worn by many celebrities like Nadia Jamil, Anoushey Khalid and even the sensational Zeenat Aman, from across the border. We would be ecstatic if Mahira Khan tries on a pair! What trends for clothes are your favourite to pair with your shoes? Summer lawn trends go perfectly with all our khussas. Irrespective of the lawn brand, the colors of our khussas compliment them perfectly! Our readers would like to know about the force behind Jooti Shooti. What career 2017

Lastly, what's next for JootiShooti? Art knows no bounds; this is the most apt phrase for what we do at JootiShooti. Our business began with a pair of khussa’s, a colourful pallet and a passion for crafting art into anything we could get our hands on. In terms of expansion- we will keep coming up with new and unique styles of footwear, inspired by Pakistan and its vibrant culture.
would you opt for if you weren't designing shoes? Well, I’m more involved in the marketing side of the business than the designing. If it wasn’t for JootiShooti, I’d be happily working for the corporate sector in a marketing department! What is one piece of advice you would want to give to all the people who wear your shoes? I would advice our consumers to support local craftsmanship and to always choose quality and originality over everything else! Any advice you'd like to give to an aspiring shoe designer? Never think anything is out of your reach. If you put your hard work and soul into something, you can achieve success, more than you could ever imagine. 50

10 questions in 10 minutes Featuring Umair Mirza of UMAIRICA fashion & lifestyle blog 1. Tell us how you became a full time blogger? I love fashion and it was this passion that got me into blogging. Even though my day job pays for my bills, blogging is a personal interest that I pursue on the side. 2. At what point did you first realize your blog is influential? I was acquainted to the fashion fraternity since my interest had driven me to attend events and launches. Hence, the day I started blogging, I was aware of its potential to grow into an influential platform.
8. Two things you can’t leave your house without? Smartphone and power bank to stay connected on the go! 9. What’s next on your blog? A travel post. 10. Any tip to aspiring bloggers? You don’t blog for giveaways, you blog to share your opinions or your style, keep that in mind and people will start taking you seriously.
3. What sets you apart from other bloggers and gives you followers? I was the first V-Logger on the fashion front. I do not have a team of three to four people, and my blog posts come with a pinch of humour. 4. What bores you? Four fashion weeks in a single season bores me. Also PR agencies with terrible clients bore/torture me. 5. Which song, if any, can be the theme of your life? It's My Life - Bon Jovi 6. What superpower would you want, if you could have any? I want to wake up invisible. LOL 7. Blogging means sharing a lot that’s going personally in your life, do you draw lines? I have always wanted to show off and blogging gives me a license to do it. Hence, there isn’t a need to draw a line between personal life and blogging.

Travelling is great fun. You get to explore a new place, meet new people and get wiser! We want to know more and will share with you exciting travel stories from a few special people in our section, planes, trains & automobiles! Where did you choose to go and why? I went to Mexico & Brazil this time. Mexico has a very exhilarating, fascinating culture and has been on my bucket list for a while. I have visited Brazil before and loved the experience plus I have tons of friends there so I really wanted to re-visit. Who did you travel with? I manage to spend half of my trip with family and for the other half I was joined by some of my closest friends from Lahore. Where did you stay? In Mexico City we stayed in an area called Reforma which is quite central and close to all the touristy destinations. In
travel diaries
Sao Paulo we decided to stay in Paulista Avenue, the main artery of the city runs across it. While in Rio we chose an area in the center of Ipanema Beach. It was hands down one of the most stunning beach locations I’ve ever visited. Suggest some amazing restaurants there? For the most amazing Mexican tacos there is a very popular restaurant called La Coyacana which has an amazing Mexican cuisine. Sao Paulo has two of my favorite restaurants, Ventto Harrgano and Spot. The former serves traditional Brazilian BBQ and is an experience on its own. We got to try some really delicious food in Rio too but the one that stood out for me the most was a burger joint in Ipanema Beach called B' De Burger. Definitely one of the

Alternating waves of hot and cold wash over you so quickly today that you can’t remember which side of the issue you’re on. It’s like playing on one sporting team and being traded to the opposing team in the middle of the game. Nevertheless, you still try to do the best you can to prove your worth. Fortunately, your flip-flopping leads to you knowing more about both perspectives than anyone else. People appreciate your judgment when you finally make up your mind. Confucius wrote,“It is more shameful to distrust our friends than to be deceived by them.”
A feast of good luck signals the temporary end to a difficult period of profound change. You are acutely aware of the many blessings in your life now; suddenly there are too many opportunities rather than none. Although the current bounty assuredly feels better than the recent scarcity, you still long for simplicity, however elusive it may be today. Economist E. F. Schumacher wrote,“Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction.”
You may be concerned because there’s nothing holding you back today, and you’re secretly afraid of exhausting your energy. Ironically, you might feel as if you’re freer to operate with self-determination if you’re required to work within the sensible constraints of your limitations. Nevertheless, your I-can-do-it attitude still increases your chances of success as long as you don’t push yourself too hard. Poet E.E. Cummings wrote,“Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit.”
Every little challenge seems like a great adventure today, and you’re eager to see where each one takes you. You have little doubt that you can accomplish your goals on the job, especially since your optimism is supported by your mental acuity. But don’t get too cocky with your promises; there’s probably more work now than you estimated. Pace yourself and you could surprise everyone with how much you finish in just one day. Google cofounder Larry Page says,“Always deliver more than expected.”

You are cautious in romance today because you want to create enduring satisfaction rather than chase unattainable wild swans. New love brings with it expectations, spoken or not, that grow in complexity as the partnership evolves. Relationships entail compromise, communication and commitment. Choosing your partners wisely includes listening to both your head and your heart. Roy E. Disney said, “It's not hard to make decisions when you know what your values are.”
A family member might actively play out your fear of losing control of your emotions today. The extroverted Sagittarius Moon runs into restrictive Saturn in your 4th House of Domestic Conditions, demanding that you stop spinning your wheels for a while. Take stock of your feelings and create a foundation that’s necessary for future growth. Starting small is better than not starting at all. Zig Ziglar wrote, “Regardless of your lot in life, build something beautiful on it.”
Your schedule is probably packed to the max today, but you’re eagerly anticipating the variety of activities on your calendar. Although you may be busier than you expected, you certainly won’t be bored. However, you might be concerned that too many distractions will prevent you from finishing what you start. Don’t let your fears shadow your productivity; just maintain your enthusiasm and do your best. Whatever you lose in efficiency now, you will compensate for with your positive attitude.
You may be your own harshest critic but self-reflection can lead to an important breakthrough in your thinking today. It's easy to talk yourself out of taking wellearned time off because you’re worried about negative feedback from your peers. Thankfully, a long conversation with a trusted friend helps you see the situation from a fresh perspective and frees you from unnecessary guilt. Book your tickets before you find another excuse to postpone a trip of a lifetime.

A sobering self-realization prompts you to get your head out of the clouds and reexamine every nook and cranny of your current life. Create space for contemplation so you can consider what is working for you now and what is not. But don’t let this just be a mental exercise; you will need to act on your thoughts or they’ll just go to waste. However, Mercury is still retrograde, so set your launch date on your new and improved lifestyle for next week. Benjamin Franklin wrote,“Lost time is never found again.”
You can see the lights turning green one after another in the distance, as if the cosmos is encouraging you to start a new project. Nevertheless, you’re in a tricky phase as the old cycle hasn’t quite drawn to a close, and there’s a few details still left to iron out. Use the extra time to finish old business and complete your preparations for the journey ahead. Don’t fritter away the hours; make a plan and stay singularly focused. Your future self will thank you for everything you do now.
You’re looking ahead with great anticipation while still feeling overwhelmed with your current responsibilities. You aren’t thrilled that your coworkers are placing such high expectations on your contribution. You don’t think you can live up to their lofty demands. Unfortunately, your worries about your performance will take their toll, so you must break the vicious cycle before negative effects begin to accumulate. Talk to your peers and let them know your concerns now before it’s too late. Winston S. Churchill said,“There is only one thing worse than fighting with allies, and that is fighting without them.”
A close friend is performing some important magic that can positively influence your day. You might believe you’re functioning in a vacuum at work and you are the only one watching out for your best interests. However, it turns out a secret admirer has been scheming on your behalf and may have a plan that improves upon your existing one. Whatever you do, don’t dismiss potentially helpful guidance, even if it comes from an unexpected source. Author George S. Clason wrote,“Advice is one thing that is freely given away, but watch that you only take what is worth having.”
