What were some of the memorable moments while shooting for Punjab Nai Jaungi?

Mahwish: I think there aren’t only one or two memories but numerous ones and it was so much fun shooting them. One of the memorable moments I think of is the one where we shoot in a village in Bhawalpur. The scene required me to run into Asfar’s arms. In the scene we had to show the reaction of the local villagers but during the shot everyone started staring at us and we were able to capture their real expressions and it was super funny as they are not used to such public affection.

Hamayun: Every scene of mine was memorable for me.

After shooting for Souchaj, what do you have to say about their clothes, is there any piece you would love to wear?

Mawish: I’ve worn two outfits so far and the white one reflects my personality as it’s basic and delicate yet has a Pakistani touch to it with the waist coat. Im having a lot of fun shooting in these clothes Is there any certain diet you guys follow prior to the shooting of the film?

Mahwish: I try to workout on a daily basis and I stopped having roti and rice. It Is a super quick way to lose weight.

Who is your favorite character in the film?

Mahwish: FAWAD KHAGHA! Hamayun: My character!

What was your favorite location to shoot at?

Mawish: The palaces in Bhawalpur which is Hamayun’s house in Punjab.

Hamayun: Darbar Mehal.

After watching the trailer, one thing I was eager to ask you was how you and Hamayun create that intense chemistry on screen?

Mahwish: we are very good friends and at the same time very good actors. We build that scene up in a way that we work together to make it look good and not as two different individuals and with time the chemistry builds up and people feel that after ‘Dil Lagi’ and ‘Jawani Phir Nahi Ani’ they have seen us in these intense characters, it somewhat comes naturally but we work really hard to make it work.

These songs are perfect for mehndi’s, any song you were caught humming all the time?

Mahwish: Ronak haye ashiki because the shoot was very magical. It was very cold and I had to dance in the rain. What’s interesting is that audio was actually fast forwaded and when the audience will see it, it will be in super slow motion. It was very tough for me but it really touched my heart.

Hamayun: Teray Naal Naal Rehna. It’s a very happy song.

Why should people go and watch the film, what sets it apart from the others?

Mahwish: It’s a masterpiece. I’m not just saying that because I’m in it but it is a complete entertainer and a family movie. There is something for everyone. It is packed with action, romance and drama.

Hamayun: There is no film like this where it’s a guy from Punjab and the girl is from Karachi. It’s a light hearted family story and the flow is very nice. Families should go watch this film on 2nd September! your character’s outfits in the film are very chic! Tell us a bit more about them.

Mahwish: Deepak Perwani designed the clothes for the film and he did a great job.

I have a few pieces that I loved especially the red one I wore in the song I mentioned earlier which you see in the trailer.

Tell us more about your brand Souchaj and a bit about the brand ethos?

Meher & Mehek: This collection is called ‘Royal heirloom’ where we specialize in gotta work. Our net dupatta’s and flowy silhouettes are dominated in the collection.

Our craftsmanship is very intricate and we specialise in that. Our timeless cuts allows the outfits to always be in trend. The meaning of our brand name ‘Such’ stands for pure while ‘Chaj’ stands for finesse hence the name SOUCHAJ.

What type of accent did your character embrace?

Hamayun: That’s a seriously good question. It took me three months to embrace the accent. Its very subtle so hence needed more practice.

So sometimes it happens that while embracing a character , one also starts behaving like that in real life too, has that ever happened to you.

Hamayun: In this film, the character is very pompous. So during those days when I was shooting, I would be wearing shalwar kameez and peole would be like ‘please come out of the Fawad Khagha mode’. My body language would also be such that I would sit and move around like my character because you’re shooting all day long.
