ABOUT ME:
fatima munir amjad Who are your real life heroes? People who serve humanity.
Most important things in your life: My loved ones.
What do you do on a Sunday? Stuff with the my kids and husband. Quite often spend it at the beach or the farm.
What first drew you to the arts? A natural inclination I suppose and maybe it's a genetic thing cause a lot people in my family paint. Plus my mother was very big on us seeing the world and any new place we went to the first thing we'd do is go to the museum.
What is a superpower you wish you had? To be able to fly!
What is your background in the arts? I have a BFA from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture Where do you derive your inspiration from? My work is all about my home Karachi/Pakistan and surviving and protecting it for my children, so no shortage of inspiration there. I find everyday objects and conventional craft practices fascinating and quite often incorporate them in simple ways as a mother would to beautify her home. Are there any particular art movements that inspire you? Pop art for sure. Though I love all kinds of art more or less equally but I am very moved by conte porary art and pop art. Pop art mostly because it broke the conventional barriers of art. I kinda feel it's tells the real truth. Can you walk us through the process of developing your work? Hahahahaha!! It looks ssssssoooo simple and easy but it's really a neurotic process! From lying awake and making small notes on your phone in bed whilst trying not to wake up your partner to formal drawings to scale and size... Or to picking up something randomly actually or

metaphorically whilst walking on a street. Does art have a calming or exciting effect on your being? The time that you are exploring can sometimes get very frustrating but if u find something u love and enjoy and feel it is saying what u think it's hugely exciting and happy. Would you say you are an avid reader? Does reading play a role in your creative process? Very unfortunately after kids I have the attention span of a guppy for a book. I ate books before but to be honestly mostly trashy stuff or biographies. I find people's stories very interesting. Who would you say is your mentor? Most definitely Quddus Mirza, Adeela Suleman, Rashid Rana and David Alesworth. Tell us about your favorite piece. My favorite piece is a work I made in my thesis and and a very similar one I made for Aicon Gallery. It's called Jandiya. It's currently in Nazia Khan's collection and the one at Aicon went to a very prominent European collector. It's a set of 5 Jhandies made from camouflage fabric, bleached and then embroidered on. So when they hang you can choose your own interpretation. Going form conflict to growth or from prosperity to ruin. What has been the proudest and most fulfilling moment in your career so far? Showing with Canvas and Aicon. They are the best of the best and of course the distinction in my thesis show. Do your fashion choices take influence from the art you create? Do you see a similar vein run through both. Hahahahaha! I suppose! I do dress as simply as my work. I dress for my body type and not necessarily on current trend and equally important to the attire is your smile, your skin and your attitude. It is said that great art comes from terribly sensitive souls. Would you agree or disagree to the statement? I would agree yet I feel great art sometimes comes from great arrogance. What is one question that nobody asks you but you wish they did? Well everyone does ask me about collecting art but I wish more people understood it. And I can't talk enough about it. I am a avid contemporary art collector and promote it largely as it has very little understanding and patronage in Pakistan. What advice would you give to a younger you? Live your dreams. Are there any upcoming projects we should be excited for? I'm always very excited about working with Aicon. I have to say I love international attention and being in that market obviously for the chance of representing your country.

Starting from one of my favorite pieces that was the white high neck floral embellished top. I loved the whole vibe of the shirt with its young, fun and flirty feel. The flow of the shirt needed to be paired up with something structured I feel and that's why I went with the tapered form fitting pants. I love how the pants in itself were such a statement piece with the vertical work border on its side, it gave the outfit the perfect finishing touch! To complete the whole look I felt my hair should look effortless yet put together. That's where Mariam of the blow dry bar did her magic. She gave me beautiful voluminous curls with a soft lip which worked perfectly with the look I had envisioned! The finishing touch was my simple strappy gold heels which I felt tied the whole look together!
My second look which was a little more dressy just the way I like it! I loved how this traditional meets modern outfit turned out. Keeping with the trend I paired the slightly worked up off shoulder shirt with mint green dhoti pants. The shirt was fairly heavily embellished so I kept it as the main focal point of the whole look. Which is why I was extremely minimal with jewelry. Keeping my neck bare and letting the shirt in itself work its magic. I accessorized with rings and funky earrings and paired it with nice pair of silver heels. As the star runner of this look for me was the off shoulder shirt. For my hair Maryam pulled back the front pieces giving me a soft half up do which accentuated my jaw line and that I feel amped up the delicate feminine quotient which this look required. The outfit itself was pretty basic in color so a coral lip did prefect justice to it

Brand: Nickie Nina Model: Maliha Ammar Photography: Irfan Younas Hair and makeup: Blo-dry bar
I put pieces from two separate collections together for the last look. A heavily embellished, peekaboo sleeved shirt paired with a white gota encrusted shalwar; fit for a summer wedding. I just loved the color play! Blodrybar gave me side swept hair with bold smokey eyes and red lips which looked great against the electric blue!

the highs & lows of the 15th nabilas promotes new talent
everyone misses sabri From last years phenomenal opening performance at Lux, it was painful to remember Sabri was no longer with us this time. However, we were very pleased with Ali Zafar, Ali Sethi, Qurutulain Baloch's tribute to Amjad Sabri where his family was called on stage to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award for the legend. 32

Although this is the 10th time Nabila's has won their Lux Style Award, the industry leader announced that they will not be submitting their portfolio for LSA any longer and instead will launch a new initiative that will identify and mentor deserving talent and create the same opportunities for them that they've have had. What a great gesture!
th
style lux awards hasnain lehri totally deserved it!
It was Yet another fantastic night hosted by Lux with all action packed performances, lots of glamour, music and great laughs. Here's a round up of all the great and not so great moments that made this years #LSA2016 and unforgettable night.
Nothing made us more happy and satisfied on hearing Hasnain Lehri's name called out for Best Male Model. He deserves every bit of the acknowledgement and we are so proud to have had some killer covers with this superstar this past year. Many more to come Hasnain!!
the shakar wandaan duo killed it Mahira Khan effortlessly danced the night away with her Ho Mann Jahaan co-star Sheharyar Munawar on their super hit anthem of the year; "Shakar Wandaan Re'. It was a killer finale performance as the duo came down from stage on to the front row to pull out their friends to join them in the act. Friends like Humayun Saeed and Mawra Hocane were really good sports and left the crowd completed starry eyed.
our very own item girl?
ali zafar rockstar indeed!
Ali Zafar pulled of an incredible tribute to songs from the past 15years and drove the audience to bliss with his singing and dancing. The lyrics were whitty and well thought of and had us in fits. Not to mention he made a wonderful host and was a huge reason behind the success of the grand evening.
Katrina and Deepika, all were forgotten when Sohai set the stage on fire with her moves. Sohai has proven she is master of many traits, dancing being one of them. The young actor was full of energy, had her expressions on point and kept us all engaged and entertained. Truly impressed by how she's upped the game for our actresses. 2015 2016

misha shafi The audience was left in awe when Meesha Shafi sang a couple of verses from her song Eva. She may not have won the award for it but she definitely won many hearts that night.
this ones for kashmir Faysal Quraishi bagged the award for Best Actor for his performance in Rang Laaga but it was heart warming to hear one of the greatest speeches of the night where Faysal dedicated his award and achievements to Kashmir. It was a great reminder to all Pakistanis that we are always with them even in their tough times.
prince charming didn't show up
Some of us may have merely pulled ourselves out of bed, taken out our best outfits and highest heels, got a super chic hairdo and charged our phones full on hopes of meeting Fawad Khan again but is it really fair that the actor didn't even show up on the red carpet at all. He may have been pounced on a little last time but surely he can understand how many he left upset and heartbroken. We wonder what the real reason for this was and hope that Fawad doesn't start avoiding red carpets at all events. Of course all was forgiven once he stepped on stage!
small jokes Ahmed Ali Butts segment was filled with laughter as he called out Jeena (Ayesha Rao Khan), a character from Mann Mayal who may be quite the sympathy seeker in the show. Ahmed then called on Jeenas parents for which the character was played by two dwarf actors. The punch lines did not leave us very amused and didn't seem necessary. The paid actors may not have been offended with what they were prepared to hear but that doesn't mean it wasn't below the belt. Many found this segment quite demeaning and disrespectful leaving a confusing image of what was to be perceived.

winner music legends Even though the award for Best Singers were given to Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Abida Perveen, it was disappointing to know they were not present at the show to accept the award. We hope to see these talented legends as part of this event and also hope they agree to a performance in the future.
taking digs at deepak? Jokes on personal appearances of real people should just not be the considered means of entertainment. During the show renown designer Deepak Perwani was made centre of one the jokes by Yasir Hussain regarding his face looking big in selfies. These kinds of digs are not required and we find that humour can be found in lots of things but physical appearance and personal jokes shouldn't be one of them.
an awkward duet Off screen and On screen couple Osman Khalid Butt and Maya Ali took things in their own hands when their turn came to entertain the audience of the night. They decided to inhale some helium gas out of a balloon and sing the Diyar-e-Dil song from their show. Let's just say the results were quite awkward to watch (and hear).
