How To Achieve A Smokey Eye In 6 Easy Steps!

let's face it, there's no sexier makeup look than a smoldering smokey eye. It legit works with any outfit - formal, informal, western or eastern. But if gone wrong can make you end up looking more like Kung Fu Panda and less like Gigi Hadid! But fear not, follow these 6 simple steps and nail that perfect smokey eye!

Prepping the eye. Ladies, do NOT forget to use an eyelid primer before applying ANY sort of eye shadow or pigment. The creases in our eyelids are oily hence within 30 minutes to an hour will end up dissolving your carefully applied work and give a cracky appearance. Not fun! My absolute favourite product has to be "Painterly" or "Soft Ochre" pro long wear paint pots by MAC. Smashbox's "Photo Finish Lid Primer" comes in at a close second though!

Dare to go black! The easiest tip to achieving that dark look is to apply a generous amount of black gel liner and quickly blend it all over your eyelid, making sure NOT to go all the way up to the eyebrow. Be sure to start blending as soon as you apply the gel liner cause it dries out rather quickly. Mac's Blacktrack gel liner is a DREAM product for this, but any other black gel liner would do the trick!

Use a dark grey or a matte black eyeshadow to blend in the edges and outer sides. Apply a liner at this stage if wanted. (Thick or winged looks great!)

Magicosmetix HD palette has amazing pigmented eyeshadows + a multitude of other things! MUST have product!

Use a black kohl pencil for the inner eye and smudge it under the lower lashes as well.

Apply a thick line, using a blending brush to gently blend it through (you can use eyeshadow if that's more comfortable). (DMGM cosmetics black kohl pencil is best recommended as it doesn't bleed down once applied)

Apply false lashes to give a dramatic effect, however if you're not a lash girl apply generous layers of mascara on both upper and lower eyelashes (2-3 layers resting 30 seconds between each application). My FAVOURITE for a dark lash is Max Factor's False Lash Effect mascara in black.

Finishing touches. ALWAYS remember to fill in your eyebrows ladies, they make ALL the difference. Now using a concealer brush highlight the under brow area (remember the gap from step two) and clean up any product under the eye as well. Now VOILA, you're ready to hit the red carpet!

Travelling is great fun. You get to explore a new place, meet new people and get wiser! We want to know more and will share with you exciting travel stories from a few special people in our new section, planes, trains & automobiles!

Where did you chose to go and why?

When I was in the USA, I went to Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts. I decided to go there to unwind from the stress of work and busy city life. The ocean, greenery and the pretty little streets of Cape Cod is exactly what I needed to detoxify my mind and soul.

What can you do over there to relax and unwind?

Sun down while you're at the ferry to or from the island (Martha's vineyard) was hands down the most beautiful sight of my life. The sky was clear and the water was a shimmering orange. I was so overwhelmed by the beauty I could physically feel it!

Suggest places for a perfect night out Streets! Be it the Town centre or local residential. I love exploring.

Tell us about the sights no one should miss out on Grab a throw and a pair of sunglasses and just pass out at the beach.

The sound of the ocean and the feel of the breeze with clear blue skies is perhaps the best feeling ever.

Finally, any tips?

If you ever decide to travel there, make sure to have a good pair of sunglasses with UV protection. Due to almost no pollution the sun hits hard and its a bit difficult to take in all the beauty if you're squinting the entire time.

The week begins like a storybook, complete with babbling brooks and trees that talk and strangers meeting in the woods and falling in love. Exercise figures on Monday, but it's a fun exercise -- the kind you barely notice. The middle of the week is less dreamy and fun, but don't stop exercising: It will keep you in good spirits even as the details and the drudgery threaten to drag you down.
