auj lawn 2016 In classic Persian and Urdu literature, AUJ is the place where the mountains meet the stars. It is a place of mystical beauty and serenity. Removed from the confines of time or convention, this halfway point between the heavens and the earth is a testament to human endearment and will. The highest point. Staying true to our name, we’ve crafted this collection with our rich heritage in mind. Diving deep into antiquity and culture, we’ve showcased multiple design disciplines from all around the Subcontinent and fused them with European Bauhaus geometry. Uniquely Eastern design movements blend with royal Mandarin, Victorian and Persian motifs to give rise to a design movement that is unique and different – Just like you.

the fashion list!
This outfit had an old world charm to it. The classic combination of maroon and gold made in a contemporary cut made it look traditional yet modern. I paired it with a gold choker and crystal Ginas! I pulled my hair into a low ponytail so the outfit could do all the talking! A huge thanks to Rabiya for throwing in the deepest oxblood lipstick that brought the whole look together.
ready, set, style! th is week anaam chaudhry wears four zainab salman ou tfits and makes them her very own.
Zainab Salman is known for her unique cuts and outstanding craftsmanship. I picked this outfit as it was just the right amount of glamour with a voluminous gota embellished lehnga and crystal encrusted choli. I paired it with classic gold chandbalis. It really made me feel like a Mughal era princess!

This shimmery grey outfit had a Greek goddess vibe to it and has to be one of my favourites. The work on it was beautifully detailed, full of crystals and navy blue accents. The Swarovski belt is what pulled the whole outfit together. I paired this outfit with a delicate sapphire choker, a nude pink lipstick & crystal Gina heels.
This fully embellished velvet choli and banarsi coat and sharara was a mosaic of colours. I loved the combination of red and purple in different textures, I don't usually see designers being so playful with their colour palette. Side swept hair and minimal makeup was the perfect choice for this look.

health edit 1. EAT HEALTHY
Eat the right food at the right time. Start your day with a supercharged green juice & a healthy breakfast. Research your food: every time you put anything in your mouth ask yourself: Is this nutrient dense? How is this nourishing my body? Do not skip meals. We should have at least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day for a healthy diet. The best kind of diet to follow is one that has a good mixture of fresh fruit and vegetables, wholegrain, legumes, good fats and lean protein like beef, chicken, seafood and tofu. Look for colour when choosing fruits and veggies. Flavnoids, which produce yellow, red and blue pigment in fruits and veggies, protect you from cancer. Carotenes, responsible for the green and yellow-red colours are great for hair, nails and skin. Eat foods rich in calcium, iron & folic acids. Supercharge your diet with superfoods and drink plenty of water.
2. FOCUS & MEDITATE
Tune into the self. Every morning before getting out bed give yourself 10-20 minutes of meditation time. It’s a great way to start your day, especially for those ladies who are constantly multitasking. In this busy noisy world our brain needs moments of silence to recharge, refocus and become rejuvenated. A rejuvenated mind leads to a rejuvenated body. Start with 5 minutes and take it up to 20. Sit up on your bed, close your eyes and start focusing on your breath. Meditation increases your ability to focus & multitask and if that’s not enough ladies, expert suggest that those who meditate regularly are biologically younger than those who don’t.
3. ENJOY YOUR EXERCISE
As we all know sweating it out releases endorphins, the famous “happy hormones”, which keep us fit and looking great. But do you look forward to your gym session or fit-
ness classes? Do you have a solid follow through? Take up an exercise routine you thoroughly enjoy and look forward to. Find a routine that works for you. It could be Yoga, Spin, HIIT, running or a combo. When you love your routine, you wont be able to live without it.
4. LET GO OF THE DRAMA AND FIND PEACE WITHIN
Women tend to analyze and get caught up in hearsay. Let go and do not make a drama out of everything that happens in your life. Remember the law of attraction, drama will attract more drama and eventually will rinse you of your potential energy. If someone says speak ill, or is ill-mannered, simply choose not to get involved into the psyche. The mind has the potential of driving you crazy over a tiny issue, the next thing you know you’ve created an entire case scenario that perhaps never existed except in your mind. The next time you find yours mind being pulled deeper into the rabbit hole of a small drama, ask yourself does this serve me? Sure, perhaps there is SOME truth to what you’re absorbing, but don’t get sucked into that mental sink-hole, acknowledge it and let it go, it will pass. Stop giving so much of your invaluable energy to negativity, instead, give it to focusing and elevating yourself. Before anything else, fill your own needs.
5. BE HAPPY
Research shows that happy people live seven years longer than unhappy ones. Let the pessimist out of your life and learn to be happy. Happiness is healthy choice you have to make. Learn to be grateful and happy with what you have and most importantly surround yourself with happy people. Happiness is contagious. Always end your day with a gratitude meditation.

"there is artwork in every print"
56
Cross Stitch's Spring/Summer 2016 collection consists of a combination of sophisticated visual references ranging from Chinoiseries, Victorian panels to Sicilian Majolica's, with a streamlined, modern approach. Every print is treated like an artwork, with joie de vivre behind every design, which is important mainly because they communicate subdued elegance and soignĂŠ ease before they betray a sense of whimsy. Cross Stitch stays true to its customer: a high-powered woman who has to look sharp from sunup until way past sundown, and rarely has time for wardrobe change.

look flawless in ten minutes
BY REDAH MISBAH
IT OFTEN HAPPENS THAT WE CHOOSE TO NEGLECT OUR MORNING ROUTINE ON THE ACCOUNT OF BEING IN A HURRY OR JUST SIMPLY BECAUSE SOMEWHERE DOWN THE LINE YOU GET LAZY? BUT WAIT, STOP RIGHT THERE! YOU’D BE AMAZED AT HOW MUCH MAKING THAT LITTLE EFFORT TO GET DRESSED UP CAN HELP YOU FEEL ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS THROUGH THE DAY.
foundation Your aim is to choose a foundation and apply it correctly so it lasts you the day. One of my favorite things to do these days is to mix a drop each of my SPF15 Sunblock by Guniot, Mac Strobe cream and my Masarrat MIsbah Makeup foundation together and evenly apply it over my face. The trick is to apply a very thin layer closest to your skin colour. The thin layer being extremely important considering the horrid summers we have. Top this off with some pressed powder and optionally a fixing spray and that’s the first step of your day look is done!
Tips & Tricks: Use a primer underneath your foundation to help with smooth application like Laura Mercier's Hydrating Primer
eyes A simple eyeliner will get you a long way, be it liquid, pencil or gel – pick your weapon of choice and decide which liner suits your day time look best. I usually go for a winged liner starting at the outer edge of the eye working in. Finish it off with your favorite mascara and you’re good to go. Alternatively you can apply a brown shadow all over and darken it around your socket line and then pack on the mascara.
Tips & Tricks: Cotton buds and moisturizer are the best way to fix a messy eyeliner!

brows Well defined eyebrows can be a blessing in disguise. If you don’t like working with an eye pencil, use an angled brush to dab on a little black or brown eye shadow to even out your eyebrows. Start at the lower brow line and work upwards to create a tip and blend to finish.
Tips & Tricks: Invest in a brow kit. Trust me it will pay off! I highly recommend Benefits Brow Zing
cheeks If you have fuller cheeks, you might need a few tricks to pull off the perfect cheek. Here’s how you can decide where to paint them: place your index and middle finger on your cheek touching one side of your nose – this is where you don’t need to apply color. Go for a creamy or mousse brush and start applying at your cheek bone all the way up to where your fingers are. Make sure you blend properly and use a stippling brush to avoid harsh lines.
Tips & Tricks: Pinks work great for winters and the evening, summers are about nude or peach blush like Satin Apricot Stay on Blush by Masarrat Misbah Makeup
lips When applying makeup, balance is everything – especially during the day time. If you’re focusing on your eyes, add colour to your cheeks. If you’re going for a bold lip, make sure to define your brows! Don’t be afraid of colour, just identify what colours suit your skin tone and go with those! For a statement lip don’t forget to use a similar shade of lip liner or even a nude liner to line your lip. This also helps lip colour stay in place. For longer lasting lip colour, always apply foundation to your lips as well and NEVER directly apply lipstick, ALWAYS use a lipstick brush.
Tips & Tricks: There is a RED out there for EVERY woman and she should not be afraid to use it!
Hope you enjoyed my 10 Minute and 5 Steps to your Day Makeup Look! Remember, looking good is all about feeling good too and there is no such thing as “too much makeup”!

WOMEN ARE NOT A SUPPLEMENT IN A NEWSPAPER OR A DAY IN THE YEAR. THEY ARE INCREASINGLY ASSERTING THEMSELVES IN THE MAINSTREAM, AND CHALLENGING THE STATUS QUO. THE LAST WORD SELECTS 3 TRANSFORMATIVE WORKS BY WOMEN UNAFRAID OF IMAGINING A BRAVE NEW WORLD.
THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING: CAPITALISM VS. THE CLIMATE
WHY LOITER BY DR. SHILPA, SAMEERA KHAN, SHILPA RANADE. Mobility and access to public spaces carry varying degrees of risk for women in the Subcontinent. Why Loiter exposes the oft quoted red herrings of “honour” and “culture” as tools of exclusion and oppression of women. The book heavily influenced the Girls at Dhabas who have adopted “loitering” in male-dominated public spaces as a movement of rebellion.

Canadian journalist, activist, filmmaker and author of the bestselling No Logo and Shock Doctrine, Naomi Klein, has again fixed capitalism in her cross hairs this time in the hope of eliminating climate change. What others find overwhelmingly difficult, Klein sees as a once in a century opportunity to make her country fairer. Following the publication of the book Klein became a signatory to The Leap Manifesto, a movement dedicated to combating climate change and inequality in all its forms and will be giving the Edward W. Said memorial lecture this year titled Let Them Drown: The Violence of Othering in a Warming World.
THE RAJ AT WAR BY YASMEEN KHAN
“Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it.” Which is why we owe a debt to historians like Yasmeen Khan who are diligently setting the record straight. The critically acclaimed author of ‘The Great Partition’ has written a people’s history of the Indian subcontinents as they fought in the war of their oppressors. Khan boldly asserts that the two and a half million Indian volunteers were the the lifeblood of the British War effort, and inserts them back into the WWII historical narrative.
