Travelling is great fun. You get to explore a new place, meet new people and get wiser! We want to know more and will share with you exciting travel stories from a few special people in our section, planes, trains & automobiles!

Where did you choose to go and why?

Earlier this year I made a trip to Costa Rica. Costa Rica had always been on my bucket list. Sandwiched between the Caribbean and the Pacific, It offers a sense of adventure and tranquility. Surrounded by lush green forests, beautiful sandy beaches and wildlife.

Selina Hostel in Manuel Antonio, which is a resort turned into a youth hostel. On the other hand Costa Rica is full of beautiful hotel resorts, specially around Arenal volcano.

Who did you travel with?

I went on a solo trip. This was my first ever solo trip and I realised I was not the only one backpacking in Costa Rica. The guided group tours all across across the country and the friends that I made during the journeys never made me feel alone.

Where did you stay?

As a solo traveler I stayed in backpacking hostels as well as some hotels. With respect to hostels I would strongly recommend

What are the best shopping spots there?

I don't think Costa Rica is great for shopping other than some souvenirs, coffee and chocolate. Throughout your journey you would come across a number of places where you can buy these.

Just avoid shopping at the airport as the prices there were extremely high. If you love coffee, make sure you book a coffee tour at monteverde and buy coffee beans there.

Suggest some amazing restaurants there?

In Manuel Antonio, Ronny's Place is an amazing spot to enjoy great seafood, cocktails and a beautiful sunset view, while you hear the noise of wild monkeys in the background. In San Jose,

Beer Factory is another brilliant spot, serving delicious burgers in a gastro pub setting. For those who like to have a drink, Beer Factory serves some of the best craft beers in Costa Rica.

Finally, any tips?

1. Instead of buying Costa Rican Colons in your country, buy US dollars. US Dollars are widely accepted in Costa Rica and if you convert them to colons, you can get a better rate in Costa Rica than your home country.

2. Once you get there, make sure you buy Mosquito repellents and water shoes. Mosquito repellants are essential when visiting forests and water shoes are handy when enjoying a dip in the waterfalls.

Suggest places for a perfect night out After an adventurous day out, night outs in Costa Rica call for some relaxation. Town of La Fortuna offers various bars to enjoy some music and drinks. Selina Hostel in Manuel Antonio is also a good spot to enjoy music and on their Latin nights you can enjoy Latin dancing. If you happen to be in the capital, San Jose, make sure you visit Barrio Escalante which is the trendy hot spot for young hip Costa Ricans. Hoxton Pub is a great venue to enjoy good music and drinks.

What can you do over there to relax and unwind?

Tell us about the sights noone should miss out on Costa Rica is well known for its natural beauty. If the weather is clear, one must not miss the opportunity to enjoy the sight of Arenal volcano in La Fortuna. The best spot to enjoy this view is the Mistico hanging bridges. I would also highly recommend taking a zip line tour in Monteverde which offers you the most stunning views of the Cloud Forest. Finally make sure you visit the Manuel Antonio national park; enjoy beautiful views of the wildlife and the stunning Manuel Antonio beach.

springs to relax and enjoy the peaceful ambience as you immerse yourself in the natural springs. While Tabacon is more towards the pricier side for thermal springs, it is worth the cost. Another great way to relax is enjoying the sunset at the beautiful Manuel Antonio beach, while lying on its white sandy shores.
