nited Snacks has become a household name in all whirlwind with one simple phrase, ‘Oye Hoye!’ We envisioned a brand that would not only become part of the lives of Pakistani people, but also one that would work to enrich their lifestyle and communities around them. Our affiliation with the ARY Film Awards (AFA) 2016 as official sponsors allowed us to do just that.
United Snacks, with its flagship brand Oye Hoye, has always been interested in cultivation of talent that is in abundance within our nation. And, what better way to do so than to support an event which resonates with this very ideology? AFA celebrates the talent of Pakistan, just as we do at Oye Hoye. Our first campaign with the celebrated Fawad Khan, was another step towards promoting the best that our industry has to offer. Hand in hand with one of the most well-known faces of the Pakistani film industry and a network poised for greater things, we wanted to bring to light the many ways in which Pakistani cinema has blossomed. Through this partnership with AFA, our aim was to raise Pakistani Cinema to a level never seen before. It’s not often that a Pakistani FMCG company creates ripples in the steady waters of a film industry, but United Snacks is no ordinary company and Oye Hoye is no ordinary brand. With a vision to build on the talents that our nation has to provide and enliven the lives of our people; United Snacks looks to continue to support events such as the ARY Film Awards as Pakistani Cinema stands on the cusp of greatness, ready to go further every day. JURY AWARDS
Having swept the awards clean, credit must be given to Jawani Phir Nai Ani’s director Nadeem Baig. We hope to see many more films of this quality be produced in Pakistan.
Presented by the lovely Marina Khan and talented Umar Sayeed, Sarmad Khoosat’s award was welldeserved. The director and lead actor of Manto proved his years of experience and beyond brilliant acting.
Sania Saeed’s role as Safiah Manto’s wife - in the film Manto was definitely not an easy one. Rumour has it that Manto’s daughters gave her performance their resounding nod of approval, telling her “this was exactly how” their mother was.
This award was definitely a no-brainer. Go team Jawani Phir Nai Ani!
SPECIAL AWARDS
Awarded by the Marketing Director of Oye Hoye, Shahzad Khalid presented Fawad Khan with the international Icon Award. Fawad, you make us so proud!
Waheed Murad was given the ‘Special Appreciation Award’ as the Pakistani Film Industry will forever be in debt of his remarkable contribution.
Beautiful Mahira Khan was awarded the Radio Choice Listener’s award. A very talented actor and a beautiful person both inside and out, we have no doubts as to why she’s everyones favourite. 14
PAPERAZZI & OYE HOYE
2016
One of our favourite moments from the night was Javed Sheikh being handed this Lifetime Achievement Award by the iconic legend Nadeem Baig. We owe it to men like them for the success of our Pakistani film industry.
HIGHLIGHTS
Sohai Ali Abroo’s dance performance to Fair and Lovely helped set the mood for the night. Energetic, beautifully choreographed and fun costumes made this performance a hit.
Swarmed by fans and selfie requests, poor Fawad Khan had to be escorted by security to his seat. Our number one star looked very relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed the awards.
We owe it to our lovely hosts Fahad Mustafa and Sana Bucha for their company. Articulate, poised and entertaining, their efforts must be applauded.

HIGHLIGHTS
And the award for the Best Makeup and Best Costume Design goes to the fabulous Nabila for the movie Jawani Phir Nai Ani!
Definitely one of the highlights of the evening, the Lollipop awards had us in stitches. Starting with Wiqar Ali Khan being awarded the App Kya Kartay Hain award, Humayun Saeed won the Wifetime Award, Urwa Hocane the Wannabe Arabi award for her name (Urwa Tul Wusqua Hocane), Gauhar Rasheed won the Inshallah Hamza Ali Abbasi award and Hamza Ali Abbasi won the Qandeel Balouch award for his Facebook attention seeking behaviour. What’s even more exciting is the social media stir caused by this award. For those curious minds, do check out a particular someone’s facebook page.
There’s nothing like Mahira Khan breaking into a fun dance number with favourite Faysal Qureshi.
And we are pleased to announce that Vasay Choudhry walked away with three awards Best Dialogue, Best Story and Best Screenplay for Jawani Phir Nai Ani. Well done Vasay!
Ahmed Ali Butt’s rendition of Tahir Shah’s Angel had us entertained like never before. Dressed in a long, flowy robe, Ahmed’s resemblance was uncanny. We’re still deciding whether we like his version of baby Angel or the original itself. 16

HIGHLIGHTS
The chemistry of these two on stage was unreal. Hilarious, spunky and so in sync, we owe these two for many great laughs.
The set of the awards must not go unnoticed. The lighting, sound and of course, the beautiful location made the awards one to remember.
Mathira’s sure got the moves!
Complete with crazy jumps and flips, Mehvish Hayat and her team really brought the stage to life. It’s been a while since we’ve seen that kind of energy on display.
We would like to extend a big thank you to Jerjees Seja for his contributions and commitment to Pakistan’s film and media industry. It it due to his efforts that these awards were able to take place.
Fahad Mustafa’s energetic performance to Waheed Murad’s classics was a delight to watch. Full of life, great dancing skills and fun costumes made this performance one of our favourites. 2016
