SPEAKS where words are unable to explain

We started off as two colleagues working in a firm together and ended up appreciating each other’s aesthetics and design language but most importantly we bonded over our international experiences as students. There was creativity when two of us put our heads together and brought our strong suits to the table. We mold ourselves to our clients’ needs but we make sure to add a touch of Fatima and Mahnoor to it. A win win situation for both the parties. Our styles are unique to our personalities but amalgamated when it comes to execution.

Did you always consider a career in architecture and interior design?

Fatima Hasan: I was always inclined towards just making everything look a certain way and ended up choosing it as career. Mahnoor Khan: I’m the third generation to be involved in this field and have always wanted to contribute since I came to my senses.

Tell us about your educational backgrounds.

Fatima Hasan: I have an undergrad in Architecture Design from the University of Toronto and a double masters in Design Strategy from Dublin, Ireland. Mahnoor Khan: I did my undergrad from Chelsea College of Arts and Design (London) in Spatial design.

What drives your design decision? What are some of your biggest inspirations?

We purely design with our instincts. Mostly our designs are inspired by our travel experiences and surroundings. We do like an eclectic and unique approach.

Do you consider aestheticism or functionality to be more important? Why? Did you ever have to compromise one for the other?

Sometimes one needs to be chosen over the other but our priority is always to cater to both equally according to the brief of the project.

What is the most frustrating aspect of your job as a designer and what is the most rewarding one?

As creative individuals we need to do things out of the box nowadays but clients are usually stuck in that Pinterest frame of mind. Inhabits you to let loose sometimes.

What is your favorite project to date and why?

You can’t ask a mother to choose between her children….. Honestly all of our projects have a unique factor to them but working on a secret project in the mountains..So stay tuned and follow us on instagram Sofiadesigns_inc Lunadesigns_mk

world to know about you or your ideas?

Our projects are not just a job for us we give them all our time and mind. We are not shy to make a bold statement and our colour palettes are, we believe, our ‘IT FACTOR’.

What makes you different/unique from other designers in this field?

We respect all creative individuals but we feel our country needs to step out of this carving and ornamental state of mind and start valuing the raw form of materials. We want to promote our local work and stop this import culture. Embrace the natural form in its beauty.

What advice would you give to someone who is new in this field?

Get ready to work and forget about your after work hours, there is no such thing. Good luck! Opus Apartments, Gulberg
