Tell us a little about yourself?

I am a happy go lucky sort of a person, I take life very easy. I am a person who likes to go with the flow.

Did you stumble upon your career or was it something that you always wanted?

I had never dreamt of becoming an actress but when I jumped in the well, I decided to take it to maximum lengths.

Did you ever consider or experience a career change?

As I said earlier, I am not somebody who sits and does serious planning. Whatever comes my way, I consider it on the spot and if I believe it’ll do me good, I take the plunge. I love acting and the fact that something I love is paying my bills makes me feel extremely content. I can say with conviction that I am good at what I do so I will not be changing my career path.

2. Finding my Mr. Right and starting my own family What does nobody tell you about being the boss?

I don’t particularly focus on what other people say. I know exactly what I want and I do whatever I can do get what I wish for.

Name one boss lady that inspired you to take your own path, and how did she inspire you?

My mother- she is the sole inspiration of my life. In my career as a successful artist, my mother is my strength and my backbone.

Describe a typical day in Nimra Khan’s life?

I wake up, offer my prayers, greet my mother with immense love if and when she is around, I have a healthy breakfast and get ready for work. Most of my day consists of shoots so I am on set after which I like to hit the gym and finally, I love coming home in the evening and spending time with my family before going to bed.

Did you ever feel discouraged mid way your routine? How did you push through it?

I am a fighter and I believe in myself and Allah. However, if I ever have vulnerable or weak moment, I push myself consciously and strive to give my best even then because I certainly do not believe in any sort of compromise when it comes to my profession.

What are the top three things that you cherish the most in your life?

First and foremost – my family, my bond with Allah Almighty and the recognition and blessings Allah has blessed me with.

What is the #1 thing yet to be ticked off your bucket list?

I can’t narrow that down to only one thing. There are two things that I believe are equally important for me to tick off my bucket list and those are1. To do an impactful role that stays in people's hearts and minds forever

A #BossLady is someone who can make her own decisions, sustains her power and stays content with who she is.

A lesson your biggest failure might have taught you?

Regardless of my success or failures, the biggest lesson in life that I have learned is that nothing is impossible if one is determined, hardworking, and true to their craft.

Which world leader would you most like to have dinner with?

Queen Elizabeth II What advice would you give to young girls who look up to you and have goals and dreams like you?

Girl Power all the way! Girls - you must dream; you must implement those dreams and aspirations because you only live once, and you must do so with full force.

NATASIA PAUL Tell us about your brand, how and when did you decide to be a fashion designer?

This is what I’ve wanted to do since I was 13, when I was transitioning from my tomboy phase and began doodling gowns on my notepads in school even though I wasn’t very good at drawing. I’ve done my Undergrad and many other courses after on the subject too. When I moved back after college I told all my friends that “oh I’m finally launching my own clothing line” and many times I almost did, but somewhere I always felt that I wasn’t ready. I

was still observing the fashion scene in Pakistan and my job as an editor at two of the best publications in the country over a span of 5 years, gave me a lot of insight into the business. I met many amazing senior fashion fraternity members who’ve inspired me along the way and once I realised that my journey as an editor is complete I started working on “Lela” which is my first luxury formals collection.

Describe your brand in three words?

Eccentric, conscious and approachable.

What makes Natasia Paul Label different from other fashion brands?

We’re not just representing the cliche tall, fair and skinny globe trotting girl that majority of the brands are doing right now, We’re here to represent realness and not perfection and you’ll see that in our collections and editorials to come. It’s all about the experience and we really do enjoy going the extra mile for the needs of an individual customer. We don’t believe in mass producing our designs and we’re also a conscious brand trying our best to use organic materials wherever we can, avoid all hazardous chemicals as well as pursue fair labor practices at our work shops. It’s going to take some time to implement all the conscious changes we want to make in this business but we’ll get there soon and are aiming to set an example out of it.

Where do you derive your inspiration from?

Way too many things on the daily but mainly people inspire me. I’m very observant by nature and I love people watching. People with unique style, people who are great story tellers, people with good energy, their laugh, their kindness, their humour, their intelligence, their movements, their silhouettes, their haircuts I find it all quite inspiring.

Who do you think will be the perfect muse for this brand?

I think it would be my younger sister, Anushe. She’s grown up to be everything I admire in women. She’s independent, easy going, fashionable, kind, funny and confident. She’s going to be really shocked to read this!

Which one is your favourite creation by far?

It isn’t part of my collection but I made an asymmetric couture gown for myself about 7 years ago but I can’t seem to find it anymore. Now you’ve inspired me to recreate it.

Describe your clientele. What kind of women carry your outfits?

Mostly independent working women who aren’t afraid to take fashion risks. These are women who work hard and play harder. Women who make their own choices rather than being told what they should wear or what might look good on them.

What are the pros and cons of being a fashion designer?

For me, the best thing is that I get to be a very big part of my clients special occasions via the outfits I make for them and we develop a very beautiful relationship. Making sure every family member is served according to their unique personal style. Discussing their looks, exchanging photos all that is a lot of fun.

A major drawback I guess would be that it requires me to spend a LOT of time on my phone and I am not a big fan of doing that.

Any advice for an aspiring fashion designer? Or someone in the same field as you?

Stay true to your brand, take advice from your seniors but don’t let them discourage you. Take your time and don’t give up on your vision. And lastly, the ONLY thing that’ll get you results is hardwork.

Where do you wish to see your brand in the next 5 years?

I’m already excited to announce that we’ll be launching our ready-to-wear store very soon. In the next 5 years I plan on introducing many different lines for different body types, within the brand; lots of innovative designs, structured silhouettes as well as sleek basics. I also see us pushing our boundaries and serving some killer editorials each time we launch our collection. We hope to emerge and be known as the go to brand for cool edgy fashion.

What is your destination for the trip of your dreams?

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grow up? And do you still want it?

I wanted to be a pilot. Also applied in the air force, but I never woke up for the test. I guess I was the lazy artist kind since the beginning. And no, I don’t want to be a pilot anymore.

If you got stuck in the elevator and was forced to listen to only one song, which would it be?

Any John Mayer song.

What is the best advice anyone has ever given you?

You know your problems, and that’s half the solution, just start working on the rest of it now.

Where did you go?

This time of the year is really good to visit thailand. Its pleasant yet peaceful. I visited Bangkok, khao yai and phuket.

Who did you go with?

I travelled with my buddies Ali Akram and Alee Hassan, it was a work trip which was busy, hectic yet loads and loads of fun.

Travelling is great fun. You get to explore a new place, meet new people and get wiser! We want to know more and will share with you exciting travel stories from a few special people in our section, planes, trains & automobiles!
