» What is the story behind Souchaj? We have always been extremely explorative and industrious women. Our husbands encouraged us to utilize these traits to create something from scratch. We've always had a knack for designing and fashion, hence we finally took the step and formed Souchaj.

professionally involved in the fashion industry for many years now as a dedicated employee for several non high street brands. Mehak:I’m a lawyer by qualification and always had a knack of reading trends and figuring fashion looks. So, we ended up in the right business.

» Describe Souchaj in three words? Originality, purity, heritage

» What makes Souchaj different from other luxury wear brands? Souchaj is different, both in terms of quality and uniqueness. That is solely because we believe in originality as being the main driving force behind all of our designs. We always use pure and solid fabrics, coupled with bold

» Did you stumble upon your career or was it something that you always wanted? How did your interest in fashion designing begin? Mehr: I have studied fashion and been

motifs with dying art techniques. » Where do you derive your inspiration from? Staying true to our traditional Pakistani roots, we came up with the idea of Souchaj. Our main design philosophy is our classic handwork combined with the use of timeless silhouettes featuring luxe fabric and exotic colours through which the sheer richness of our culture shines through. We derive inspiration from anything to everything around us. » Who do you think will be the perfect muse for this brand? There are many.Who radiates elegance, class, intelligence, and is confident enough to wear something that pays homage to our culturally rich traditional roots. Someone who dons such clothing with great pride and honour! » Describe a day at Souchaj’s studio. Well, it's generally similar exercises each day; Once reach Souchaj studio with an everlasting feeling of energy, excitement, and another arrangement of objectives and goals every day. We attempt to accomplish the absolute best We can, for ourself and for the business, every single day. This incorporates putting in the hard yards with collaborators, keeping up a specific standard of work and guaranteeing quality, giving some accommodating recommendations to our valuable customers, and so forth. The day must finish with investing some quality energy with the family. » Which one is your favourite creation from the latest collection? It has to be the green ruffle sari with short jacket! its simple and elegant, linked to our traditional roots in terms of work, however, it boasts Tilla, Vasli, Marori, and some Gota work on the Jacket. » What are the pros and cons of being a fashion designer? The biggest pro is definitely the freedom to be as creative as innovative as one can possibly be. It really allows you to express yourself through your work and design. The most worrisome con is probably the ever-changing demands of customers in the fashion industry! » Any advice for an aspiring fashion designer? Or someone in the same field as you? You must never quit or back down in the face of adversity. Work as hard as possible for your dreams and goals and do not rest until you've achieved every single one of them. You must tackle all challenges head-on and strive to be the best possible version of yourself that you can be. Life waits for no one, and the competition is tough. But always remember; when the going gets tough, the tough get going. » To what do you attribute your success? To each other! Cheers!! It is perhaps our tireless efforts, professional work ethic and unwavering loyalty and commitment to the success of our brainchild that contributed to all the success we have achieved so far, and will hopefully help us attain even more success in the years to come. » Where do you wish to see Souchaj in the next 5 years? We would want to see our label being associated with purity and originality all over the globe, and for the beautiful name "Souchaj" to be associated with and mentioned only in the upper echelons of the bridal fashion industry.

THE PR MOGUL PHEBY HAROON IS A TOTAL BOSS BABE. FOUNDER OF ENTREPRENEURIAL BUSINESS PHEGENCY, A CELEBRITY MANAGEMENT AND PR AGENCY, WHICH HAS NOW, AFTER EIGHT YEARS OF DEDICATION, EVOLVED INTO PH SOLUTIONS. SHE IS KILLING THE PR GAME!

32

PAPERAZZI MAGAZINE

2019

Did you stumble upon your career or was it something that you always wanted? My line of work was destined for me. Being the backend force behind incredibly talented influencers has come only with experience. 8 years of celebrity management, PR and strategic promotion is something that you can master only with time, effort and experience. Did you ever consider or experience a career change? Career change... Not at all. My career as a strategic publicist allows me to work with a diverse clientele. So that technically leaves little room for monotony or to consider a change in career. When was a time you felt completely discouraged and how did you push through it? Ups and downs are part of life. The sooner we accept that nothing is constant, the smoother the ride can be. It’s a human reaction to feel discouraged with certain uncontrollable situations, but then again, what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger. Positive affirmations are very important to get past such situations. I work on self-betterment through positive reinforcement techniques.

Name one boss lady that you admire and how she still inspires you? My mother’s a total boss lady. She’s someone who truly inspires me. She works, earns, runs the house and maintains a comfortable lifestyle for herself and her family. Managing multiple roles and that too seamlessly is something I wish I can master too. Describe a day in your life. It surely is documentable. My day starts with my morning chai, responding to multiple voice notes from my offices in Karachi and Lahore and then playing dress-up to seize the day. Depending on the city I’m in, I stick to a daily schedule with a to-do list and make sure that’s completed before midnight. Gives me ample time. A day in my life is a compilation of work, fun and games, prayers and comfort. Gotta enjoy what I do.

" THE WORLD DOESN’T STOP IF YOU DO. TO REST IS IMPORTANT. "

What was the best advice that your mentor gave you? The world doesn’t stop if you do. To rest is important. What are the top 3 things you cherish in your life? 1. My Family 2. The opportunities I’ve gotten in life 3. The ability to be empathetic What is #1 thing that is yet to be ticked off your bucket list? There are one too many! What does nobody tell you about being the boss? Oh that’s a good one. A boss is not just a boss. A boss wears multiple hats. That too with a smile. You’ve got to be a team player. Empowering and motivating the people you work which involves patience and understanding of their designated positions.

Complete this sentence: To me, a #BossLady is…” A lady who did not give in to the societal limitations of what a “lady should be”. She is someone who acknowledged the power and the ability that God has created her with.

What did you learn from your biggest failure? That this too shall pass. Nothing is a constant state. Failure teaches us in a constructive way more than it is said to damage us. Always look at the glass half full. Which world leader would you most like to have dinner with? I don’t know about a world leader, but I would surely love to sip a cuppa tea with the Queen of England in a garden hearing all about her life experiences. Oh what fun. What advice would you give to young girls out there who have dreams and goals like yours? DO IT! Don’t let anyone tell you ‘You Can’t’. Everyone who’s successful took the leap of faith and started. All you need to do is take the first step, and rest will be history. You don’t need others to support you, all you need is YOU.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT

FROM STARTING OUT AS AN AERONAUTICAL ENGINEER, THEN GOING ON TO USING HER CREATIVE SENSE AND BECOMING A FASHION DESIGNER, TO AN INTERIOR DESIGNER; THERE ARE MANY THINGS THAT THE YOUNG AND BEAUTIFUL ACTRESS ZARNISH KHAN HAS DONE IN HER CAREER. TALKING ABOUT FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND ALL HER EXPERIENCES, THIS WEEK WE GET A LITTLE INSIDE INTO HER LIFE!

BEAUTY WITH BRAINS IN CONVERSATION WITH ZARNISH KHAN

36

PAPERAZZI MAGAZINE

2019

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself? I am someone who believes in living life to the fullest, with her priority always being her family. My family is literally my oxygen. My friends, my wishes…I don’t have big plans or a huge wish list. My life is a normal subtle life. I have small plans and I just want to have fun in life, that’s about it. You got into acting a few years ago; what has been your biggest inspiration that helped you kick-start your acting career? Honestly there’s not really a story that people would want to hear. Acting was more of a destiny than a choice. It just happened. I tried something for the first time, I liked it, people gave me a good response and a part of me wanted to explore it so it’s like one of those things which I do whole heartedly with lots of love and passion, and I want to do it till the charm and fun of it fades. You have acted in many drama serials, could you pick a favorite character from all of these? All my characters are my favorite and are very close to my heart. There’s a story behind every character I have played. However I have to admit, there were a lot of scripts I said no to initially but then I thought to myself, this is not Zarnish Khan, this is some girl somewhere in the world who is stuck in the situation and who needs help. Maybe if I help portraying a positive image, somehow somewhere the girl will be empowered. To name some, I would say my characters from ‘Ishq Zahenaseeb,’ ‘Khubsoorat’ and ‘Laaj’ have been some of my favorites. How would you describe your style of acting? I just get indulged in the scene and put myself in the situation of the character. I never have any idea about what I’m going to do before the scene. It just happens when I see the red light of the camera, and I just give it all. That’s the only trick I have. Is there any actor in this industry that you would love to work with? Yes, there are so many. I haven’t even started my journey. I have just worked with a few good names from our industry until now. There are so many actors I would like to work with and it’ll be unfair if I just name a few. What would you say is the most exciting part of your job? Probably the most exciting thing about my job would be that we get to travel a lot! Tell us about any challenges you have come across since you first started your career. The funniest challenge that I have encountered so far is when you’re acting, you get a guideline of where you have to look and act, so sometimes in some shots the person isn’t standing in front of you. Learning this was hard and it took some time.

Another one is how to move less while shooting. Are you working on any exciting new projects currently? I am working on some exciting stuff, however I am not allowed to reveal the names yet however you guys will find out soon! Where do you see yourself five years from now? I am not a person who plans ahead of time so let’s see, but somewhere really nice that’s for sure. I have great hopes and dreams of the future. Do you have any other passions or talents? So many! I was that child who after every six months used to change her profession entirely. I started as an aeronautical engineer, fashion designer then went on to becoming an interior designer. I was into racing too but I never ever thought I would end up being an actor! What are the three things you cannot live without? My family, my friends and food. What’s your motto or the advice you live by? Be yourself and be grateful for whatever you have because there are so many people out there who don’t have the half of what you have, so be grateful for everything God has granted you with.

Our fab astrologer Zahid Haider, styles up your stars. Find out what’s in store for you this week!

For your in-depth weekly forecast call 0322-757-5219 E-mail: happyhaider65@gmail.com

ARIES (MAR. 21- APRIL 20) Things are likely to get busier around here. We’re on the other side of retrograde season, which brings with itself the realization that you have a month to achieve everything you set out to this year. Revisit that to-do list, Aries. Commit to achieving the goals that are in alignment with your higher purpose. You are a force to be reckoned with when you befriend focus. What you want to avoid on the way to the finish line: take any shortcuts. It is the quality of your work and your attention to detail that will help you stand out from the crowd. TAURUS (APR. 21- MAY 21) The mind: your slave or master, Taurus? Be aware of the nasty tricks it plays or how it is affecting your self-worth in weak or vulnerable moments. Finding comfort in the discomfort is dangerous because any attempt to break the cycle will be met with resistance. Something to think about when the going gets tough: your brain is just another muscle which you control rather than the other way around. GEMINI (MAY 22-JUNE 21) Beware of foes that are masquerading as friends. Not everybody deserves your trust, Gemini. Taking your rose-tinted glasses off will help you see people for who they are. Remember to protect your boundaries and renegotiate the terms and conditions. If you don’t look out for yourself, who will? Learning to stay neutral when things go downhill is a life skill that will help you make empowered decisions. CANCER (JUNE 22-JULY 22) Examine the fears and insecurities and understand where they are stemming from. Know that by giving them more power, you are diluting the quality of your work. David Nicholls’ wise words awaken you: “Imagine staying awake all night not because you are worried about the future but because it’s fun.” This week also brings with itself the reminder that clear communication is the secret to success. Stand by your truth no matter what and trust that you will be supported by the right people. LEO (JULY 23-AUG 22) Picture this: you reach work at 9am after braving the traffic, only to find out that you've been fired and/or the department you’ve been working for has ceased to exist. Now, we’re not implying that something of this magnitude is about to take place (or are we?). What we are suggesting is the unpredictable nature of life and the importance of seeing the humor in every situation. Nothing and nobody will be able to break your spirit once you perfect that deep, hearty laugh. On the upside, your army of angels, from this realm and the one above, promise to rush to your side making it easier to brave life’s many storms. VIRGO (AUG. 23 -SEPT. 23) Do we create our own destiny, or are we simply living out a script that was handed to us at the beginning of time? Virgo, your insatiable need to win against all odds will change everything for you this week and clear the roadblocks that previously stood in your way. What you need to keep in mind when you find yourself doubting your abilities: you are a master manifestor with the ability to speak things into existence. Remember to bring your most creative self to the table as you do. It is your unique ideas that make you a force to be reckoned with. LIBRA (SEPT. 24 -OCT. 23) Your opinion is not better than theirs. It’s just different. Opening your heart and mind will help you examine each side of the narrative and find an amicable solution. Trust that everything will transform the second you become a flag bearer of love, kindness and compassion. Libra, there is a reason you are represented by the scales of justice. This week also brings with itself the reminder that making your money work for you is the need of the hour. Continue to create a financial reserve that will serve you well in the future.

SCORPIO (OCT. 24 - NOV. 22) Ease into the flow, Scorpio. Everything is taking place in divine time. You are in alignment with the grand plan and are fulfilling your sacred purpose here on earth. But this week isn’t just about being a light unto yourself. It’s about sharing your gifts with the world and awakening those around you to realize their true purpose. Your leadership style is about to go through a massive transformation in the days to come. SAGITTARIUS (NOV. 23 -DEC. 21) You already know your strengths. This week, you’re being asked to understand your limitations. There’s only so much you can do, and that’s okay. Give yourself the time you need to rest and recuperate, especially if you have been working yourself to the bone. Instead of being apologetic about where you are, have an open and honest conversation about what you can and cannot take on at this point. Your soul lesson: knowing when to push and when to let go. CAPRICORN (DEC 22.- JAN. 20) The difference between people who make it and people who don’t is not skill alone. It is the determination to pursue their dreams and the courage to be different that helps them stand out from the crowd. Do you want to live a life being just about average or do see yourself reaching for the stars? Make a choice and follow it through, Capricorn. Take empowered decisions and leave the rest to the Universe. There is a divine plan in place for you. Trust that things will work out in a miraculous manner. AQUARIUS (JAN. 21.- FEB. 19) A promise from the mysterious forces above: you can have everything you desire and more. You are in the initial stages of a project with major potential. Build it slowly. Nurture it in a manner that will help it evolve. Trust that you will experience amazing rewards when fruition period comes around. What you will need to be mindful of is the manner in which you utilize your funds. Word to the wise: savings mode on. PISCES (FEB. 20-MAR. 20) What a wonderful feeling it is to be in the right place at the right time. The work you are putting in is bringing you success, recognition and power—not to mention, the kind of financial stability that was once a distant dream. Allow both your creative and entrepreneurship skills to the fore. Remember, being seen and heard at the right places is just as important. There’s no harm in tooting your own horn occasionally if it gets you noticed by the people who matter.
