The

5 Days in Pakistan

Day 1: On Day 1 of the Royal Tour, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the Islamabad Model College for Girls, a government run school, to highlight higher education for girls.

This was followed by a visit to The Margalla Hills to join children from local schools and take part in a number of activities, which highlight Pakistan’s work to meet several of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Day 2: On Day 2, the Duke and Duchess had an Audience with President Arif Alvi at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, and had lunch with Prime Minister Imran Khan. In the evening, the Duke and Duchess attended a reception, hosted by the British High Commissioner at the Pakistan Monument, after arriving in a rickshaw!

Day 3: On their third day in Pakistan, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge flew from Islamabad to the Hindu Kush Mountain Range. They stopped over in Chitral, where the two were presented traditional hats, coats, and a book with pictures from

Princess Dianams visit in 1991. During their visit to the Mountain Range, the Duke and Duchess visited a glacier that is retreating due to climate change. They then visited a Kalash village, to learn more about the people and their unique heritage and traditions.

DAY 4

Day 4: On Day 4, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived in Lahore where they visited the SOS Children’s Village. Afterwards, the Royal Couple played cricket with children at the National Cricket Academy. They then visited the Badshahi Mosque, before visiting the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, visiting the children’s ward, where they spent time with patients undergoing treatment.

Day 5: On the morning of their final day in Pakistan, the Duke and Duchess returned to Islamabad from Lahore, and they visited an Army Canine centre before their official departure from Pakistan.

Did you stumble upon your career or was it something that you always wanted?

I feel I was a born artist and I’ve always enjoyed doing things related to creativity, may it be art, drawing, sketching or be it as simple as painting my nails. I’ve always enjoyed designing as it helps me exercise my creativity and I get to play with colors, fabrics and textures. I get to create things from scratch which I particularly enjoy a lot. That’s how I knew this was my true calling.

Did you ever consider or experience a career change?

I’ve always been very happy whereever I was and where I am today. I am very passionate about my business and I am consistent about my work and especially a fair work ethic hence things are going very well so far.

Did you ever feel discouraged mid-way your routine? How did you push through it?

Yes, I think every road has its own bumps but I am very grateful and very lucky to have an incredible support system when it comes to family, friends, my kids Moiz and Umaima. I find inspiration in small things and lead through every situation.

is Donatella Francesca Versace. She is the current chief creative officer of Versace, a brand I really love for its stunning designs. Her story inspires me so much, she belonged to a very humble family where her father was a salesman and her mother, was a dressmaker. With her hard work and persistence and the love of fashion she has become so successful and a power to reckon with in the fashion industry worldwide.

Describe a typical day in Erum khan’s life?

I am an early bird so my day starts at 5 a.m. After dropping my kids to school, I go for a workout or swimming followed by office work and meetings. I generally spend the afternoons and a major part of my evenings at my studio. I make sure I have dinner with my family so I always try to get home by dinner, after that I plan my next day and sleep early to do all of this the next day again.

What are the top three things that you cherish the most in your life?

My, my family and my work.

What is the #1 thing yet to be ticked off your bucket list?

• To send my kids to world’s best institutions for higher education.

• To dress up Michelle Obama who I think is a role model for women all over the world • To go sky diving with my best friend and kids.

What does nobody tells you about being the boss?

To be successful you have to be extremely patient, persistent and hardworking.

Name one boss lady that inspired you take your own path, and how did she inspire you?

The woman who has always inspired me and my work

A Boss Lady is a woman who is successful independently; she is a lady of steel. She is a lady who has worked hard to be where she is; on top of the success ladder.

A lesson your biggest failure might have taught you?

I don’t consider myself as a failure.

I’ve learnt that gratitude fosters positivity and if you want meaning in your life, start serving others. Find a way to make a difference in others lives.

Which world leader would you most like to have dinner with?

Imran Khan.

What advice would you give to young girls who look upto you and have goals and dreams like you?

Be persistent and use your resources. If you are going in for an interview somewhere, research the designer and brand, look at their social media channels and be educated as to what the brand does and how they do it so you can refer it in the meeting. I feel the new generation is a bit less forthcoming and that bothers me.
