Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Well... I’m the youngest of 3 siblings. I always wanted to be a boy until I was 19 and realized being a girl is much more fun than being a boy! Even though we have stricter rules as girls, there is a disparate uniqueness about us.

When did you first get into singing?

I was 5 or 6 years old when I joined our church choir, and I've been singing ever since. My first TV appearance was when I was 16, in a national singing competition back in 2009, and I made it to the semi-finals. From there onwards, I did small jingles and by the end of 2012, I did my first OST with Waqar Ali, Daagh.

If you had not chosen to become a musician, what alternate career path would you have opted for?

If not singing then probably an actor or a yoga instructor.

THAN MUSIC Alycia Dias is a rising star in the music industry, she has gained immense popularity through original sound tracks. At such a young age she got a chance to work with Arif Lohar, and another one of her many great achievements was to be featured on Coke Studio Season 8 where she collaborated with other musicians in the official soundtrack of that season.

Who has been your biggest musical influence?

I have many, but Celine Dion is at the top of the list! I love her and the way she performs. Her voice, her persona on stage, everything about her. After Celine – I know a lot of people might question my choice but its Taylor Swift for me. She may have an ordinary voice according to some people, but she is a ruthless performer – in a good way!

What does your typical day/ week look like?

Waiting for Sunday….

Can you tell us a little bit about the genre of music you perform?

Mostly pop rock. And for some events old Jazz, rock, ballad, dance music.

thing you are currently working on?

Yes, I'm working on my own video, which will be my second, and most favorite song that I’ve written and composed.

Tell us about any challenges you have come across, if any, since you first started your career as a musician.

I’ve faced many, and without them you can't really prosper. I feel I have taken the obstacles not only in my career but also in life as new levels, just like in a video game. Even if at a point I lose, I get back up and play again.

Though I’m challenging myself towards old Urdu, semi-classical songs where I can quantify the extent of my vocal range and capability.

What would you say is the best and most exciting part of your job?

The stage, performing, the crowd cheering, composing and writing songs. I love challenges. I love it when i get a challenging song according to my genre and my vocal range, Which, in your opinion, is the best song you have released, and why?

Ask me that question when I'm 50 - I feel I still have many “best” songs to release. I love the OSTs that I’ve done. If you ask me which song has made me THE Alycia Dias, I would say ‘Dil e Muztar’.

Is there any musician (Artist/ Band) that you would love to collaborate with?

Many! Celine Dion & Strings are at the top of the list. Ali Azmat, Noori, and Sajjad Ali. Others include Charlie Puth, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, DJ Khaled, Arijit Singh... And many many more!

What is your next project, any-

Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

Well, as a good human being, with a little bit of evil and fun. I see myself having my own car at least, if not a house, by then. I would want to release at least 3 albums and tour around the world.

Do you have any other passions or talents aside from music?

I’m flexible! I do yoga, headstands, handstands and many other yoga… poses. I can dance really well; I love break dancing. I’m really keen on learning Jujitsu.

Is there any piece of advice you would like to give an aspiring musician?

Life is a mess! It has been and will always be. You need to fight your own battles and protect yourself because no one is going to do it for you. You come in this world alone and you leave alone – Stop complaining and start taking responsibility of your own mistakes. Focus on yourself and do what you love; you have one life, make the most of it.
