How and when did you start your journey?

How did Manara come into being?

I started my journey way back when I enrolled in PIFD (Pakistan Institute of Fashion Design), the best fashion institute in Pakistan. After graduating I started my career working for HSY and enjoyed Sheroo's tutelage for a while. Manara is Project House’s first in-house brand. It aims to introduce multiple unstitched collections, featuring an embroidered lawn line, an intricately crafted luxury line and an exclusively developed range of hand-crafted fabrics.

When did you first realize that you want to pursue your career as a dress designer?

I have always been inclined towards art, be it designing my own clothes since school or for my friends and family for special occasions, I guess my direction was evident!

I’m inspired by many artists and art movements. Several paintings and vintage pieces of craft also fascinate me a lot which reflects in my work.

What is your favourite part about being a fashion designer?

I love doing what I do!

Which is by far your personal favourite piece from the latest collection?

The design called Aab e Rawaan is my ultimate favourite.

Any piece of advice you would give to your followers?

I feel I’m not in a position to advice but if anything, it would be: work with a clean heart and give it your best, things may take time but this will supersede all vicious strategies and plans crafted against you!

Have you earned a degree in designing or are you self-taught?

I am a fashion design graduate from PIFD (Pakistan Institute of Fashion Design) and an affiliate of La Chambre Syndicale De La Couture Parisienne France. I feel PIFD is still the most prestigious fashion school in Pakistan and I feel extremely lucky to be a part of it.

Who have been your biggest mentors and what’s the best piece of advice they’ve given to you?

In the field of Art and Design I consider Hassan Sheheryar to be my mentor. He told me to ‘enjoy doing what you do’ and that's my life motto now. My favourite piece of advice is to only work wholeheartedly and keep no margin for mediocracy.

What was your biggest fear while rolling out a new design/collection in the market?

I believe in being free from fears as I want to enjoy being creative and having the liberty to do what I want. I also believe that God has been kind and market's response has been overwhelming!
