Did you stumble upon your career or was it something that you always wanted? I didn’t stumble on it; however it evolved out of my passion for art and love for innovative fashion. What was your “aha!” moment? When I decided that I would forge my own path, which means going against the grain most of the time. Whether it was designing collections inspired by art or launching the #BossLady collection which was a completely radical alternative to summer everyday wear.
Family, friends and freedom! What is #1 thing that is yet to be ticked off your bucket list. I am all about instant gratification, so if there’s something I want to do, I’ll do it. ASAP. What does nobody tell you about being the boss? It’s 24/7. Non stop. Never ending. But amazing! Name one boss lady that you admire and how she still inspires you? I find that every woman’s story that I’ve come across has some spark of admiration and inspiration hidden in there somewhere. That’s the bond of womanhood.
Did you ever consider or experience a career change? My MA degree from Saint Martins was for art curation but I ended up starting a fashion house. Travelling is great fun. You get to explore a new place, meet new people and get wiser! We want to know more and will share with you exciting travel stories from a few special people in our section, planes, trains & automobiles! Where did you choose to go and why? I went to Galle, Sri Lanka to attend my best friend’s destination wedding. It was an absolutely amazing experience, not only was the wedding super fun but Sri Lanka itself truly is ‘Jewel of the Indian Ocean’. Who did you travel with? I went with a large group of friends which made my trip even more exciting. Needless to say, none of us got any sleep. Where did you stay? We stayed at Amari, Galle which is the perfect resort for such a trip. It stands on a sandy beach on the south-west coast of the Indian Ocean. Most of our days were spent

sitting by the pool and enjoying the ocean waves. The resort is also 15-20 minutes away via tuk-tuk [sri-lankan version of a riksha] from the city’s famous tourist attractions. Suggest some amazing restaurants there? The best restaurants are all located within the famous Galle fort and they are all quite amazing. If you are a sea-food lover like me than Sri-Lanka is food-heaven. A must go restaurant is Amangalla at the Galle fort. The property overlooks the ocean and quite literally transports you to a 17th century Dutch villa as it the official residence of the Dutch governor. There was a good variety of food, but the best of the menu was the local cuisine and the sea-food platter.

Tell us about sites no one should miss out on? If you are in Sri Lanka then you must visit the Galle fort. The entire fort houses offices, hotels and restaurants and beautiful churches, mosques and temples. The place was built when Sri Lanka became a Dutch colony, it is astounding how the locals have maintained their colonial heritage so impeccably. There are many tourist spots within the fort like one of Sri Lanka’s oldest light house. The entire fort has beautiful pebbled streets, you can walk around, shop, eat and enjoy the ocean breeze. Another must visit site is any ayurvedic garden. There you can see the real magic behind the science of Ayurveda and you can buy the products too.

What can you do over there to relax and unwind? You absolutely must go for a dip in the ocean but do not go too far as the waves are quite intense and you must must must get a massage. Sri Lanka has some of the worlds best spa’s, as a spa junkie I absolutely loved my experience there. And top it all off with some herbal Ceylon tea – there are like a million flavors. Tips? Since Sri Lanka is abundantly green and next to the ocean, watch out for the mosquitoes and the humidity. I kid you not, our dehumidifier would be filled up in half a day. All in all, Sri Lanka truly is a must visit country- the country is lush green, the food is divine and the people are unbelievably nice and humble. And its only three hours away.
