How did Souchaj come to life?

Our husbands are childhood friends. These guys came up with the idea to start a clothing line of our own. They encouraged us to bring the idea into sketches and create them into reality. So that is really how Souchaj came into being.

Is this what you guys have always wanted to do?

Mehr: i am a fashion designer by profession and i have worked with known high street brands previously.

Mehak: I’m a lawyer by profession and always had a knack of reading trends and figuring fashion looks. So I guess, we ended up in the right business.

Tell us a little about your educational background. Did you both study design?

Mehr: I'm a fashion graduate with an extensive experience in the fashion industry.

Mehak: I am a lawyer by profession. I left my practice to start my own venture.

How long have you two known each other for?

It’s been more than a decade now. Our husbands are childhood friends. So the four of us have always been together ever since we got married.

What is your dream project?

Our dream project is to work on a bigbanner historical movie as the main costume designers on the likes of Umrao-Jan or Mughl-e-Azam.

Do you think you guys have achieved everything you’ve always wanted?

We have only started the brand a year ago and we believe that we are just at the start of our journey, for us the journey is always

more important than the destination itself.

What’s the next step?

We are currently working on our new collection and it should be out in the next few weeks.

Name three things you value the most?

Respect, integrity & values Are there any obstacles that you both face while working together?

We are two ppl who have two different personalities who have a difference of opinion on almost everything which in a way is our strength as it gives a paradigm shift to the reasoning behind all our decisions.

Who is more bossy?

Interesting question (haha) next please!

What would you like to say to our Paperazzi followers?

Be yourself as thats the most original thing one can do.

Travelling is great fun. You get to explore a new place, meet new people and get wiser! We want to know more and will share with you exciting travel stories from a few special people in our section, planes, trains & automobiles!

Where did you choose to go and why?

I am an army brat so, I grew up travelling and now I am addicticted to it ever since I can remember. I love travelling because it gives me a chance to see the world and listen to so many stories and experience cultures larger than life and relax. This time my destination was Abu Dhabi. It was my pick solely because I wanted to relax with some sun and beaches on my way to Pakistan as London and its ‘Beast from the east’ was freezing my bones.

Who did you travel with?

I travelled with a bunch of friends and my fiancé. As we all needed an excuse to get out, enjoy sun, wear nice clothes and eat.

Where did you stay?

That’s a fun question. We stayed at St. Regis Saadiyat Island resort, Abu Dhabi and at ‘Million Star’ which was a tent in the middle of a desert during our camping trip with several shooting stars. It was a life time experience, something I can never express in words.

Suggest some amazing restaurants there?

Be sure to dine at Coya, the Peruvian restaurant inspired by Peruvian food with stunning views of the sea and soaring palm trees. If you are a meat lover like me then you have to try the steak at St. Regis, 55&5th Steak house. Their Wagyu beef steak is amazing.

Tell us about sites no one should miss out on?

Personally, I find that Abu Dhabi is much better when it comes to relaxing and unwinding as compared to Dubai.

You should definitely see the AD Louvre,the architecture of that place is breath-taking, Sheikh Zayed Mosque is something you cant miss. If you are in Abu Dhabi and its Formula one weekend then you must go! Clear waters of Saadiyat Island is worth taking a dip in and last but not the least Emirates National Auto Museum is one of the best attractions of Abu Dhabi. They showcase a collection of cars which takes you back to different eras of the world.

What can you do over there to relax and unwind?

Walking around the old city, taking a swim in the sea and most of all looking at the sunset while sitting in your desert camp followed by star gazing at night while the wind plays music in your ears. Those colourful streets, blue sea and sun’s several orange shades are perfect to unwind and relax.

Any tips?

Wear sun block as the sun is pretty strong there. Drink alot of water. Wearing a hat is a good idea along with sunglasses.

Suggest places for a perfect night out?

BBQ Al Qasr is perfect for a night out. The food is amazing and is located inside Emirates Palace with idyllic beachside setting for their guests. On the menu you will

find an assortment Master Kobe, bison prime rib, Irish john stone, Australian Angus, chateaubriand, Atlantic lobster, Mediterranean Sea bass and Scottish salmon. The lanternlit interiors makes it perfect for a candleliight romantic dinner.
