ART SPEAK "More Beautiful for Having Been Broken" Aisha Khalid's intricate textile site-specific installation at the Shahi Hammam incorporates gold-plated steel pins to reveal a beautiful and rich pattern.
"Lover’s Temple Ruins" Ali Kazim brings together five thousand ceramic hearts placed within the loose structure of a temple and broken pillars. Fragile clay heart sculptures suggest affect and belonging and may point to restrictions placed upon public expressions of love.

"Are You Here?" Salman Toor's project combines painting, collage and installation, connecting Lahore to New York City. The forms in the work aim to create an interface between seemingly divergent understandings of an over-connected world, developing societies like Lahore and the microcosms of cultures like Brooklyn’s art scene where the artist lives and works part-time.
"The Unsaid" Faiza Butt’s light boxes explore the relationship between image and text, such as the illuminated manuscripts of the Shahnameh, whereas references to Kashmir in the poetry of Agha Shahid Ali asks us to consider present dilemmas within a world that encompasses both the forces of good and evil.
“How will you conduct yourself in the company of trees?” Mehreen Murtaza creates an allegorical soundscape by tapping into the secret chemical and biological language shared between trees. The works ask us to reconsider our own relationship to nature and to imagine a living and pulsing universe beyond the domain of the human.
"Such a Morning" Amar Kanwar’s video installation is a sensorial undertaking that moves from light into darkness. The film addresses a disintegration of the senses, as well as the nature of collective history. Such a Morning is a contemporary parable about two person’s quiet engagement with truth. The artist lives and works in Delhi, India.

"Gold Cube" Komail Aijazuddin work uses the vocabulary of traditional religious art such as gold leaf, illuminations, paintings, scrolls and votive objects to investigate contemporary ideas of divinity, belief, religion, identity, belonging, and the question of what constitutes personal faith.
"Idea of Landscape" Imran Qureshi’s work confronts the viewer with the stark reality of today’s artificial landscapes: a field of optic fibres, multiplied by mirrors to resemble an endless unnatural steppe.
"Parallax" A monumental, three channel single-image audiovisual animation created from hundreds of original hand-drawn paintings by Shahzia Sikander. Parallax examines contested histories of colonialism, mechanisms of power and cultural authority and tensions over the control of trade routes in Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf.

"Lost Horizon" Muhanned Cader's work continues to fragment the ocean view uncannily conjures to the imagination ocean voyages with all its perils and histories of conquest by sea up to the present day migration crisis. The artist lives and works in Galle, Sri Lanka.
"New Lords Make New Laws" Aakif Suri's process of creating his work including the selection of material and treatment of the material becomes a comment sometimes. The outcome confirms to him the crookedness of our society.
“Roz o Shab” Iftikhar Dadi and Elizabeth Dadi's showcase is a site-specific neon installation. The entangled “river" of blue neon is threaded through with red, rewarding the eye tracing the maze with the one successful route bridging the outside and the inside. It recalls labyrinthine structures in Mughal architecture (bhool bhulaiyan).

planes, trains & automobiles
Travelling is great fun. You get to explore a new place, meet new people and get wiser! We want to know more and will share with you exciting travel stories from a few special people in our section, planes, trains & automobiles! Where did you choose to go and why? I chose Milan and I was lucky enough to get into a fashion school there. That was mostly my motivation for choosing this city.
zona solari. My roommates were from Germany, Portugal and a friend who stayed with us most of the time was from Guatemala. The apartment was about 25 minutes by tram from my school, which was in the centre; Duomo.
Who did you travel with? I went on my own, unfortunately and luckily. Unfortunately, because my father had applied for a visa and didn't obtain it and luckily because I was about to start a new chapter of my life, a whole new experience, all by myself. Figuring out the language, the city and the way of life there was a slow but fulfilling experience.
Suggest some amazing restaurants there? BambĂš, ilovepoke (I'm a sushi fanatic) l'immagine Bistrot Ristorante and Bar Bianco because It was in my favorite park.
Where did you stay? I was living in a shared apartment with 3 other students in
travel diaries
Tell us about sites no one should miss out on? Castello Sforzesco at night cause of the huge fountain in front of it. And Duomo, because, why not? It's stunning at night.

Suggest places for a perfect night out? Walking around the city was one of my favourite things to do. There were so many tiny shops, full of wonder. Along with window shopping and since everyone loves eating, I always came across these little stands in various tiny streets throughout Milan, serving some seriously delicious snacks and full meals in as low as 4 Euros!

What can you do over there to relax and unwind? Parco Sempione was my spot to be. A huge park with huge ponds with the view of the Castello and Arco Della. Sundays were the most fun there. You can usually find a drum circle there till the evening. It's always fun to share a moment like that with others who feel the same way. I always came across new people that are now good friends of mine.
Tips? Don't sweat it. The whole part about traveling is enjoying yourself and immersing yourself in a new atmosphere. But yes, if you go in the summer please take a boat full of sun screen with you. Do not underestimate the summers there. Quite hot when on foot most of the day. Keep a water bottle with you. Also if a stranger who is selling things just forces a bracelet on you, run away or say no politely again and again cause they can be persistent. They say it's for free but really it's not. But hey, if you're in Italy for the first time that isn't what you really need to care about!

birthdays Aries are eager, dynamic, quick, and competitive. When it comes to getting the ball rolling, an Aries is the best. Pioneering everything from work-related projects to parties with friends, these folks go for the gusto.
Our fab astrologer Zahid Haider, styles up your stars. Find out what’s in store for you this week!
ARIES You could be more rebellious than ever now that the sun is in your sign and Venus is linking to Uranus. The desire to throw caution to the wind and take a risk may be very pronounced. However, there is something that you need to let go of or finish before you can do what you want to do. Once you’ve done this, things will go much more quickly. Be especially careful not to annoy anyone in authority on Thursday.
TAURAS Although everything in your world seems quite stable right now, you can’t help but feel a bit antsy. You’re restless without really knowing why. There may be an idea, vision, or dream within you just waiting to be born. Amid the busyness of your daily life, try to find some time for reflection and give this idea or heartfelt desire a chance to reveal itself. Then you’ll know what to do. On Thursday, don’t be too hasty. Think things through.

With Mercury now retrograde in your social zone, you might want to do some background research before you get involved in a community project or team plan. Taking time to get your thoughts in coherent form will give you a much better chance of success. Friends may be encouraging you to go wild, break out of the mold, and take a risk. Be especially careful on Thursday, however. Do yourself a favor and refuse to be drawn into any dubious schemes, especially if they promise instant riches.
Anaum Hammad Irina Shahid
CANCER You could be forgiven for wondering what is going on with your career. New work may come out of the blue without you doing anything much to chase it, while jobs that have been ongoing could be subject to change. Think carefully on Thursday, when one situation may come to a head. You might need to make an important decision. The full moon in your wellness zone on Saturday can be a call to indulge in some self-care and make it a regular habit.

Concerning home and family matters, you appear to be attracting good things your way. Lucky Jupiter in this sector can be perfect for thinking outside the box and researching options that could bring a new beginning. However, you do need to be careful of Mercury retrograde. This isn’t the best time to take a risk. You can prepare for when this phase is over. With a lovely full moon in your communication zone on Saturday, you could feel especially attracted to a wonderful person.
You love learning and teaching, which is why the current planetary setup is so good for you. If you have knowledge that no one else has, you could make a lot of money by selling your skills. This is also a good time to plan and perhaps earn a fortune. Even though upbeat Jupiter in your communication zone is retrograde, don’t worry. It’s better to start than not to bother at all. At the time of the full moon on Saturday, try to avoid spending too much.
A sparkling attraction could get the week off to a great start. Will this bond last? It can if you nurture it. However, it’s often the small things that go wrong that frustrate us when Mercury is retrograde, as it is now. In your case, it could be an issue with a lover or friend that you can’t seem to resolve. As lovely Venus enters a more intense sector of your chart, you could find that a special romance becomes closer and more intimate, just the way you like it.
While work relationships continue to flourish, you can and should make the most of them. There is ample opportunity to go far, especially if you decide to become a partner in a creative team or pair up with another person to accomplish something special. Don’t stop now, because you have so much to gain. Regarding health, you may find you get sporadic aches and pains that are largely due to stress. Stay relaxed and consider learning to meditate. It could benefit you enormously.

You are eager to have fun and more willing to take a risk, whether by initiating a romance or going on an adventure. While cost could be an issue, you might be willing to pay the extra money if the experience is worth it. With bubbly Venus entering your lifestyle sector on Friday, a soothing massage could be just perfect. A full moon in your social sector over the weekend can be excellent for a celebration or other get-together, and it could be a lot of fun.
With communicator Mercury currently retrograde, it would help to keep a grip on your household expenses. It might be wise to plan for the coming week, month, and even year and make a list of what you spend every day. The more you can keep track of everything, the easier it will be to keep your home happy and in good order. When lovely Venus enters your romance zone on Friday, your love life could sparkle with sensual delights.
You could get a message from a former lover or college pal inviting you to get back in touch. Don’t turn down this invitation, because it might work out better than you think. The chance to catch up and perhaps renew the relationship is a real possibility. On another note, be careful that you don’t give out mixed signals, because someone may think you feel something for them when you’re just being nice. From Friday, your home can be a haven of peace and nurturing.
With Mercury retrograde in your personal financial zone, make sure you check your bank statements and take extra care when purchasing anything online. Keep your credit cards safe, too, as this is one time when they are more likely to get lost. Life at home seems especially blessed from Friday. This can be a great time to invest in your property by enhancing it in whatever way seems appropriate. You might even want to splurge on giving your place a whole new look.
