This week Team Paperazzi headed over to Verdance Cafe, owned by brothers Shehryar Saleem, Umer Pervaiz, Umair Pervaiz and Daniyal Saleem. How does it feel to be the face of Crimson?

I couldn't be more thrilled! It's the one brand that has always caught my attention with its distinctive fashion campaigns. It really brings the best of fashion to the high street and connects with so many different segments that are all absolutely in love with the brand. It's very exciting for me to be a part of that connection. The team's uniqueness and dedication to what they do makes them extraordinarily remarkable.

Tell us how did the opportunity come and what made you take it up?

I had just come back from my film shoot and wasn't planning to take out time this year for a fashion campaign and especially not lawn.

But when Crimson reached out to me, I started re-thinking my decision since its work has always caught my attention. Moreover, when my family found out, they were ecstatic - they are all huge fans of Crimson! And so I had no choice but to sign on with them immediately!

How was your experience shooting with team Crimson?

It was incredible! I was taken aback with Anum, Saira and Shakira's extensive attention to detail - from jewelry to hair, shoes to nail color, to the way they wanted me to pose, the choice of props - everything was well researched and thought out! Most of all, their clear vision, passion to their work and commitment to settling for nothing less than the best was a delight to see and work with! After working with them, I've understood why Crimson campaigns are always a hit and the collections, sold out!

What was the most challenging part about shooting with team Crimson?

We were faced with perhaps one of the worst days of the year in terms of weather in Dubai. Some of our team fell seriously ill, day 1 was unbelievably hot with intermittent dust storms and for most of day 2, it was raining cats and dogs! I was sure we wouldn't shoot or if we did, we wouldn't be able to finish even half the looks!

Somehow, courtesy of Anum, Saira and Shakira's infectious energy, we kept going even amidst desert storms, heavy rain and bouts of sickness (quite literally). They handled what was perhaps one of the toughest shoots I have been part of with unbelievable grace, humor and optimism - we were all shocked we managed to finish in time. The energy and spirit at the shoot was really special. We were lucky we had the most experienced photographer in the industry, and the most patient man ever, Shani Bhai, behind the camera.

What do you think about the collection?

I absolutely love it! I kept placing orders for my family throughout the shoot! Every design was one of its kind. It was so funny: every time they showed me the next garment it became my favorite and this happened all the way until the 16th outfit. To be honest, I see a lot of great collections but this was really something special. The team kept educating me on the extensive R and D that went into the collection, the innovative techniques used and the thought process behind every design - it was fantastic!

Share a funny incident that happened while shooting?

Our tents were plucked out by the strong wind. The clothes started rolling in the air and the tents were running around the desert like a scene from The Matrix! The entire team, including me, was catching and collecting things! And, between it all, I caught Anum and Shani Bhai praying in a far spot. It was hilarious and very heartwarming at the same time.

How do you relate with brand?

We share a common ethics - I learnt that, for Crimson, their customer is the absolute highest priority. They go to every extent to make sure their customer feels very special wearing Crimson - monetary benefits or practicality take a huge backseat. Similarly, for me my work is much more than money or fame. It’s driven by a passion for my craft. I work to help people think about important issues or make them laugh etc. My audience is hugely important for me.

What are your plans for the year?

I am very excited about my movie, Teefa in Trouble, releasing in July. It's very close to my heart. Other than that, I will be revealing a few more projects that are in the pipeline very soon.

What image of Maya are we expecting to see in this campaign?

You will see me in a completely new light - Maya Ali for Crimson Luxury Lawn by Saira Shakira is super edgy, chic and fashion forward. She's bold and a class apart. You will see me like never before and I am very excited about that!

Mehrbano Sethi is a doting mother and the CEO of one of the largest cosmetics companies in Pakistan, Luscious Cosmetics. She is an entrepreneur with a vision who took her love for makeup and turned into a successful global venture.

Did you stumble upon your career or was it something that you always wanted?

I've always been fascinated with makeup, and I was reviewing and recommending products as a hobby long before it was actually considered a profession!

What was your “aha!” moment?

When I came back from college and saw the big gap in the market for quality, on-trend makeup at affordable prices.

Did you ever consider or experience a career change?

Never! I love what I do. But sometimes, just sometimes, I wish I was a beauty blogger on Youtube.

When was the time you felt completely discouraged and how did you push through it?

Expanding into new markets a few years ago was the most daunting thing I've ever done. It is super competitive and took every ounce of my will to hang on and make my mark.

What was the best advice that your mentor gave you?

My dad is my mentor. The best advice he gave me was to strike out on my own and create something.

What are the top 3 things you cherish in your life?

My daughter, my husband and my author-signed books collection (I have everything from J.K Rowling, Frederick Forsyth to J.R.R Tolkein)

What does nobody tell you about being the boss?

That you can never ever actually get a day off.

Name one boss lady that you admire and how she still inspires you?

It's quite fitting that I am a great admirer of Estee Lauder. Her entrepreneurial journey is inspiring.

Describe a day in the life of Mehrbano Sethi I'm not a morning person, so I crawl out of bed and have a coffee while chatting with my daughter as she gets ready for school. Then its onwards to the office where the sight of my team gives me great pride and motivation to tackle the day and its challenges. From work I head straight home to spend time with my family. Once everyone is tucked in bed, I fire up my computer and try to take over the world. Repeat.

What did you learn from your biggest failure?

It was a humbling experience. I learned the hard way never to make assumptions and have plan A, B and C in place.

Which world leader would you most like to have dinner with?

I'd love to have dinner with Justin Trudeau.

What is #1 thing that is yet to be ticked off your bucket list?

I've had a very eventful life, but I still need to learn how to play chess.

What advice would you give to young girls out there who have
