Who is your best friend I’m lucky enough to have many friends who I am incredibly close to and dependent on.

First and foremost, I would help my family and my dogs evacuate the house, then I’d make sure I grab my phone, my jewelry and my Canadian passport.

What is your destination for the trip of your dreams?

Maldives for its idyllic beaches.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grow up? And do you still want it?

While growing up, I always envisioned my older self as a pilot.

However, I eventually grew out of it and chose to get involved in work and projects that primarily aim to bring positive social change.

If you got stuck in the elevator and was forced to listen to only one song, which would it be?

It would have to be anything by Beyonce.

Travelling is great fun. You get to explore a new place, meet new people and get wiser! We want to know more and will share with you exciting travel stories from a few special people in our section, planes, trains & automobiles!

Where did you choose to go and why?

I went to Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic, one of the exotic Caribbean Islands. My niece (my younger sister’s daughter) was having her destination wedding there.

Who did you travel with?

I travelled with my older sister and brother-in-law from the US, while the rest of the bride’s family and friends flew in directly from Canada.

Where did you stay?

We stayed at the Grand Palladium Palace, part of the Palladium Hotels and Resorts in Punta Cana, a huge, sprawling resort with tons of restaurants and divine beaches.

What are the best shopping spots there?

There is a small touristy market area, walking distance from the hotel but the resort itself has many lovely shops, from where you can purchase knick-knacks and souvenirs.

Suggest some amazing restaurants there?

You can take your pick of any of the numerous restaurants within the resort and have your meals there, provided you have booked in advance, as the waiting line tends to be long. My favourites were the Brazilian, Rodizio, and the Japanese, Sumptuori, where the chef was a class act, although the drama with which he did live cooking and served us was far more impressive than his food!

Tell us about the sights no one should miss out on.

Punta Cana is a small island but it is worth taking a drive to their downtown area and to the beaches of the resorts other than where you are staying, just to get a feel of the place. But, otherwise it is beaches all the way and one should make the most of them while there.

Finally, any tips?

Take lots of sun block and after-sun with you, a good floppy hat and a small umbrella for that unexpected shower you may get caught in! And don’t take your cell phone with you!

What can you do over there to relax and unwind?

Suggest places for a perfect night out The entire resort offers beautiful and romantic settings and if the weather is good, the place is perfect for quiet, open-air dinners along the beach. Did I say quiet? Let me quickly retract! Romantic and beautiful – yes! – but quiet – no! The entire island is abuzz with loud music, and there is no getting away from that, no matter where you go. But it keeps everyone in a jubilant mood and is nonetheless great way to spend an enjoyable evening. And the shows that the resorts offer practically every night are also a fun way to spend a night out.

Curl up with a great book and one of the many tantalizing mocktails, on a recliner under a palm tree and watch the waves kiss the shore, or swim in the ocean. You can also opt to get a massage either in the open spa overlooking the ocean, or in one of the indoor hotel spas.
