Travelling is great fun. You get to explore a new place, meet new people and get wiser! We want to know more and will share with you exciting travel stories from a few special people in our section, planes, trains & automobiles! Where did you choose to go and why? During my stay in Europe I decided that I wanted to get out and explore. I had been to Turkey before with my school and couldn’t help but go back! I got the chance to visit Istanbul for a few days and relax. Who did you travel with? Momna! I’m lucky to have such an awesome older cousin who I consider more than a sister - she's the best travel & party partner. We’re complete opposites therefore we compliment each other perfectly when traveling. Where did you stay? I stayed in an apartment from Airbnb near Taksim Square. It was really cosy and had the biggest windows where you

could see all of Istanbul. It was beautiful and was of perfect walking distance to the inner city. What are the best shopping spots there? Grand Bazaar! I can guarantee that you will get lost in the beauty and chaos of it. There are different streets filled with crafts: carpets, lamps, leather goods, ceramics, jewelry and clothes! It’s very similar to bazaars back home so you can even bargain to get good deals. It’s the best place to shop if you really want a taste of Turkey’s culture. However, if you’re looking for some retail fun the never-ending Istiklal Street has brands from all over the world. Suggest some amazing restaurants there?

What can you do over there to relax and unwind? Just walk around! There are so many sights to see and foods to try at every corner so you don’t want to miss it. Enjoying the Turkish culture is enough to get some daily inspiration and unwind. Finally any tips Travel light, make sure you know where you want to go ahead of time and plan ways to travel there too. Don’t depend on everything last minute - planning pays off big time!

Tell us about the sights no one should miss out on Being a fond lover of art and architecture, I would recommend everyone to go see the Hagia Sophia Museum and the Sultan Ahmed Mosque (Blue Mosque). They’re both beautiful buildings with traditional Byzantine and Muslim Architecture. If you’re looking to relax, eat, and walk around, definitely visit one of the Prince’s Islands. My personal favorite is Büyükada, it’s the largest one there! From Blue Mosque you can take a beautiful ferry ride there which takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. When you’re there, be sure to take a carriage ride which can give you a good tour of the entire Island.
Suggest places for a perfect night out Personally I wouldn’t like to go out in Turkey however Taksim Square and Istikal Street both have great rock, jazz and hip hop clubs that are open all night. These two streets are the safest for after hours. Restaurants are also open until late so you can walk around Princes Island and just grab a bite and enjoy the sea!

There are a million and one places in Istanbul where you can eat their traditional cuisine! If you’re a foodie like me, exploring local cuisine is a must. My all time favorite dish was Turkish Köfte and I would literally go on a hunt for it for every meal. The best place to eat a traditional Turkish platter is Sultan Pub. It’s near the Sultan Ahmed mosque so you can go there after you visit it. I also loved their icecream which is called ‘Dondurma’, it has a chewy texture and isn’t like your typical ice-cream but it was so good.
