how to enjoy your

breakfast without feeling an ounce of guilt

A

s all of us are busy in the daily grind of what we call a 'normal' day, we forget that the need to spend that 'normal' day is tied to a major source of energy that reassures that the kickstart will be a solid one. That source of energy is what we call a wholesome, healthy breakfast- the most important meal of the day. It is not too possible to prepare a loaded breakfast every morning and mentally tick on the checklist of important daily nutrients that are needed to replenish our system. So we gathered some amazing recipes from Arooba Rizwan of The Cakery Bakery. These three recipes include the most important nutrients that are necessary for a great start to the day. May it be an on-the-go breakfast bar, that not only is delicious, but also keeps the stomach happy for the initial phase of the day (hint: the mighty granola bar). Or may it be one of the most liked breakfasts worldwide, only that this one is super healthy; a pancake stack that you can devour guiltlessly, these three recipes will get the activity going in your kitchen in the morning. So grab the spatula, or the whisk, or even that protein powder that is lying aimlessly on your shelves, for we are going to whip up a few healthy yet mouthwatering food items for you to enjoy every morning!

homemade granola bars • Ingredients: 1 cup Peanut Butter, 1/2 cup honey, 2 cups oats, 2 cups chocolate melted • Directions: Melt PB in a saucepan, add honey and keep stirring till the consistency is a little runny.

Add oats and mix well. The mixture will be thick.

Line a 9" by 9" dish with foil and put the mixture in it. Spread and smooth it out in the dish.

Meanwhile, melt the chocolate using the double boiler method in a glass bowl kept on a saucepan that's filled with water. Heat it on the stove until the chocolate melts.

Once melted, pour the chocolate evenly on the granola. You can sprinkle some shredded coconut or nuts while the chocolate is still melted.

• Refrigerate for 3 hours.

Then take it out and cut the bars and keep stored in the refrigerator. Grab one for breakfast everyday for a kick of energy (or just eat it for dessert if your heart desires)

protein pancakes • Ingredients: 1 Cup Quick Oats (grounded-you can grind them at home and make oat flour), 2 Scoops Vanilla Whey Protein Powder, 2 tsp Baking Powder, 2 Egg Whites 1/2 Cup Plain Greek Yogurt, 2 TB Coconut Milk, 3 TB Almond milk 1 mashed banana • Directions: Stir dry ingredients together. Add wet ingredients and beat well (batter will be a little thick and that's okay). Heat pan on medium to low heat and slowly spoon or ladel batter into pan. Cook time will vary. Flip them over when they're golden brown. Top with strawberries/bananas/any fruit you like, Greek yogurt, honey, pure maple syrup or anything to your hearts content!

quinoa salad • Ingredients: 1 cup quinoa, uncooked, 1/2 red onion, chopped, 4 cups chopped kale, de-stemmed 1 can black beans (drained and rinsed), 1 cup corn • Dressing 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped, 1/4 cup fresh lime juice (about 2 limes) 1/4 cup hot sauce of your choice if you want to make it spicy (I used a chili pepper sauce) 1 clove garlic, minced, 1/4 cup water, 1 teaspoon maple syrup, 1/2 teaspoon cumin salt and pepper, to taste • Instructions: In a medium sized pot, combine 2 cups of water with 1 cup of quinoa and bring to a boil.

Lower heat, cover and simmer for 15 minutes or until water is absorbed and quinoa is fluffy.

In a large salad bowl, add the kale and the onion.

Once the quinoa is done cooking, add in the black beans and corn to the pot. Mix it up.

You could just add these over the kale but I wanted to warm up the beans and corn. Add the quinoa mixture over the kale and mix.

Prepare the dressing. Pour the dressing over the salad, mix and enjoy!
