Flowers, candy, red hearts and romance. That's what Valentine's day is all about. Love is in the air as we come closer to Valentine’s Day. We went around asking these couples about their best & worst memory of valentines since they’ve been together.
syra & shahroz sabzwari • Their best memory: Our first valentine ended up being on our honeymoon only and it was one of the best. • Their worst memory: Haven't had a "bad" one yet and hopefully we won't
• Mariam

sana ansari & haseeb sharif • Their best memory: Our best ever valentines would probably be our first Valentine's Day together! Everything was new and we were still discovering each other, Haseeb's gift to me was a little Labrador Retriever puppy!!!! I named him waffle. • Their worst memory: We generally don't celebrate Valentine's Day, but once in a while everyone wants to make that day special. So we decided to go for dinner at our favorite restaurant, our reservation was at 9:30 and Mr. Haseeb showed up at 10:30! Not one of the best feelings to be waiting for your date alone at a restaurant hence worst Valentine's Day ever, although he made up for it 100%

aden & rehan babar • Aden’s best memory: “February has always been our favorite month. He's an amazing chef too but never cooks here in Pakistan hence my most romantic valentine moment was when he cooked for me especially for valentine’s dinner. He had swept me off my feet with roses and lindtt chocolate dessert afterwards.” • Her worst memory: Worst was that he never cooked for me again! So for our second valentines together we thought of going to mountains but it was a bad idea! It was hailing badly and we were stranded
in the snow. This time around I was pregnant with Zaviyar and my hormones didn't find this romantic at all. • Rehan’s best memory: Once we went hiking on our honeymoon and it was the 14th actually and we really had a great time. I wasn’t expecting that she would be as good at it as we climbed some steep mountains! • His worst memory: There is no worst memory as such. We only have good ones even in our worst!
mariam shafaat & emmad irfaani
riams best memory: On our first Valengether, after looking endlessly for the perfect decided to make him a personalized handmade was bursting with excitement for coming up with ng unique and insisted that I give him his gift first, nd later he gave me his present which had a handmade card! We still recall that memory very as we both thought of the same thing as our first ne's gift to each other!
r worst memory: Once Emmad woke me up most beautiful bouquet ever. Right after one small the flowers I started sneezing away & it turned as allergic to the pollen in some flowers in the
bunch so spent the entire day popping pills, since then we have stuck to roses!
• Emmad’s best memory: One Valentine's Day we decided to re-invent the day by staying in. Maryam had prepared a lovely candlelit dinner, and I had prepared our favorite playlist . It was an utter treat for the senses good food, great ambiance and lovely music to unwind. That's when I realized an impromptu plan can sometimes end up being the most special! • His worst memory: This one time I completely forgot it was Valentine's day and she thought I had some surprise planned for her. What happened after that is history let's just say I learnt it the hard way.
maliha aziz & shah an • Maliha’s best memory: My best Valentine's Day memory is when Shahan, made a massive present containing everything that I love including a French vanilla cake that he baked himself, it was really adorable! • Her worst memory: My worst was a Valentine's Day when I wasn't in the same city as my husband! • Shahan’s best memory: I once surprised Maliha with a shirt holiday that was the best one I think! • His worst memory: Once when I was away from Maliha I had to make my mum write her a Valentine's Day card while I dictated it over the phone!! That was the worst! 2017

the warp HIRA BABAR IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Mehak Elahi speaks to Hirra Babar, the mastermind behind The Warp which are by far the most trending bags this season. Read all what she has to say! I never went onto to do any professional study in the field but that nag always remained somewhere inside me. I was greatly inspired by the advancement in technology and how it is taking over every industry in the world to make it more effective and efficient and I wondered how I could use that to make something better which was so close to my heart. I was looking for someone who understood my vision and was as passionate about the ideas as I was. And I found Naghmi, my partner who is an architect and a Phd in interaction design. We clicked at the first instance. • The WARP creates unique & super fun bags. Tell us more about your company? WARP is cofounded by two friends Hirra (myself) and Naghmi. Together we have combined our past experience in design, architecture and technology with our love for fashion to make brand that stands out with its non-conformist aesthetics that speak the mind of today’s young confident woman. We believe in the immense potential Pakistan has and we want to put its mark on the world map of international fashion through WARP. Everything at WARP is crafted locally in Pakistan. • What inspired you to start a handbag label? I was 6 years old when I made my first bag. I used to ask my grandfather not to throw away the empty packs of his cigarettes. I collected them and folded them in a way to make handbags out of them for my dolls. I just loved the idea of folding flat surfaces, be it papers, fabric or ribbons and giving them a shape, a form, a use to carry things in them. 26

ferent occasions and needs. • Are you planning on opening up a flagship store? Not anytime soon. • One piece of advice to all the woman who wear your bags? You can carry it with any outfit you want and be comfortable with it. It’ll make even the pyjamas look classy! • What are the few essentials you cannot do without having them in your bag? Hand Sanitiser, lip balm, mobile, wallet, mints/chewing gums • Which celebrity would you like to see carrying your bag? Meesha Shafi
• How important is a statement bag to you? What is the definition of a statement bag in your opinion? Handbags are the most important part of outfit for me. You carry your world in your handbag, things you fear you would need if you are stuck in any situation. Its like your constant companion on the go, whatever you need you’ll find it in your handbag. Its something you can always rely on
• What are the biggest challenges you faced in establishing your company? Combating the reluctance towards innovation. • What's next for the WARP? Where do you see yourself in another 5 years? Exciting times ahead. Expansion into new markets, new products, from bags to other wearable accessories. • Any advice you'd like to give to a junior you? Don’t be afraid to push your limits, you are stronger than you think you are!
A statement bag is something which has a personality of its own. It makes an outfit and speaks volume about the person carrying it. • What is one thing that makes your bags unique? WARP bags have been designed and made combining different concepts from design, structural engineering and material sciences to get its unique structure and form. Thats a very unconventional approach towards making a handbag. • Your Hexella bags are all the rage these days. Any other designs you're coming up with? Yes. Hexella was the first in our collection. We are coming up with more variants from the same collection for dif2017

Travelling is great fun. You get to explore a new place, meet new people and get wiser! We want to know more and will share with you exciting travel stories from a few special people in our section, planes, trains & automobiles!
travel diaries
Where did you choose to go and why? I travelled to Lisbon, Portugal, to attend the L’Oreal Professional Business Forum 2016. Who did you travel with? I travelled with my husband and we were joined by several other friends in Lisbon. Where did you stay in Lisbon? The participants from Pakistan were put up at the Olissippo Oriente Hotel in the newly renovated business district of Lisbon. It was very convenient location as the Meo arena where the business forum was being held was just a few minutes’ walk. We arrived early and managed to get very nice room with a good view of the Tejo (also called Tagus) River, the Meo Convention Centre and the 17 km long Vasco Da Gama bridge, the longest

in Europe, spanning the Tejo River and estuary. What are the best shopping spots there? Frankly there wasn’t much time to shop as we were so busy with work. I still managed to sneak into the Vasco Da Gama Shopping Centre. The central Lisbon district of Baixa has lots of shops with reasonable prices. There is also outlet shopping in Portugal but I didn’t get time to explore. Suggest some amazing restaurants there? Lisbon has tons of seafood places which I love. We were recommended Mercado da Ribeira, in Cais do Sodré area which is food court with many small outlets serving local and regional foods and we were not disappointed. Pastéis de Belém, the world famous café which serves world famous custard tarts, has to be on every tourist’s list. Lisbon is famous for Tapas restau-

rants which serve wide variety of small plates containing finger foods and appetizers. I also tried Vegetarian Paella which is an internationally-known rice dish served in Portugal and Spain. Paella is made using a variety of ingredients and usually includes saffron which gives a wonderful golden hue to the rice. However, I must say I am too used to our own wonderful basmati rice to be able to really take to the much thicker rice they use in paella in Portugal.

Suggest places for a perfect night out Lisbon has a very vibrant night life. Although we had our own post work soirees and dinners to attend to arranged by the hosts but we managed to spend one night wandering in the Intendente and Cais do Sodré areas. There were all lot of places with live music including some with strong influences from the African country of Angola, once a Portuguese colony. Lisbon is a very late night city and lots of people were wandering around these areas in the wee hours of the morning. What can you do over there to relax and unwind? We took some long walks along the Tejo River which was very relaxing. There are lots of little places developed to sit and just chill. A trip to Porto north of Lisbon is also highly recommended. It’s very beautiful and relaxing.

Finally, any tips? Go with an open mind. There is more to life than Oxford Street! The Continent has so much to offer. Go take a big bite of this quintessential European city.
travel diaries
Tell us about the sights no one should miss out on Lisbon is one of the prettiest European capitals. It’s old city’s pastel-colored buildings with terra-cotta roofs located on terraced hills have beautiful views overlooking Tejo River and Estuary. It is steeped in history as Portugal was the first great European colonial power and once counted Brazil among its possessions. It was of course Vasco Da Gama who showed the Europeans the route to India. Lisbon was destroyed in a massive earthquake in 1755 and was rebuilt in accordance with the modern rules of urban planning. There are so many places to visit but the following are a must: the old district of Alfama with the narrow winding and hilly streets, the São Jorge Castle, Jeronimos Monastery, Lisbon Oceanarium where we saw an exhibition on “Forests under water” and the adjacent cable cars which provide lovely views of the river and upper Lisbon, the monument by the sea known as Torre de Belem, the lovely Arco Triunfal da Rua Augusta which takes you

The upbeat element to the week ahead increases as lively Mercury enters electric Aquarius. The week could bring unexpected invitations and opportunities to connect with friends and network for pleasure and profit. The big news is the Lunar Eclipse, which could bring about a small revolution, particularly when it comes to your personal interests and leisure. A sport or subject may prove fascinating and pave the way for new activities and friendships.
You're very much in the limelight with the Sun moving across the topmost sector of your chart. That means this is the ideal time to showcase your skills and abilities. With a Lunar Eclipse across this axis, business proposals, contracts, or your career plans may change. As one door closes, another one may open to bring fresh opportunities that prove very appealing. On another note, you might connect with an old friend who has something interesting to share with you.
With some lovely aspects this week, career options could appear out of the blue. If you're looking for a new job, think back to the past and to skills and abilities that you used in previous years and jobs. Even if they need to be upgraded, you could find that they're exactly what someone is looking for and the key to a new job or contract. Also, go easy regarding finances. Try to save so you'll have spare cash for unexpected events.
leo

You could develop a feeling of wanderlust and a great fondness for exploring new territory. This desire to enjoy new experiences may also be a sign that aspects of your life need upgrading. If your routines have become too familiar lately, you'll certainly crave something different. This week's Lunar Eclipse could bring fresh opportunities your way that sparkle with promise. Don't rush into anything, however. Instead, take your time to thoroughly check out the merits of each option.
Feisty Mars continues its journey through your sector of travel and new experiences, so the urge to learn something to your advantage could be quite strong. Your focus may be very much on the future and what you can do to make it as exciting and worthwhile as possible. Relationships need work this week, and a Lunar Eclipse in Leo could encourage emotions to surface. This can be a good time to resolve issues that need some careful handling.
As your personal planet Mercury enters your sector of routines and lifestyle, the coming weeks can be an opportunity to explore ways to improve key facets of your everyday life. This week's Lunar Eclipse can be a call to let go of habits or activities that no longer serve you. The days ahead could bring a series of revelations regarding areas where you may have a blind spot. Events can highlight this and encourage you to take action over the coming weeks and months.

As Jupiter continues retrograde in your friendship sector, connections from the past could reappear and be important in the weeks and months ahead. Also, a piece of information could have you exploring some very entrancing opportunities, but make sure they're solid and real, not simply a mirage, before you dive in. Moreover, you might have to let something go in order to take advantage of it, so be sure that it's right from the start.
Although the week could seem predictable at first, it may not remain that way. In fact, it might help to lighten your schedule to make way for the unexpected. You also need to take care with your finances, particularly when it comes to shared resources. A Lunar Eclipse indicates that you should go easy if taking out a loan or mortgage. On the plus side, this Eclipse can encourage you to pay off debt and sort out things to your advantage.

Pleasure options continue to delight as the Sun moves through your sector of leisure and fun. It might be best to keep an open schedule this week and expect the unexpected. One or two events could prove very surprising but still enjoyable. Should you find yourself falling in love, tread very carefully. With a Lunar Eclipse in your social axis, this is quite possible. Don't rush into anything. Take the time to get to know the person better before you commit.
This could be a week when you're stirred by the powerful vibes of the Lunar Eclipse in your chart's topmost sector. It's a chance to think about what's most important to you, not only for the coming weeks but also for the rest of the year. What do you hope to achieve? The days ahead could also bring new considerations that surprise you with their freshness and sparkle. It's possible that a career path you've never considered suddenly seems very attractive.

You might be in the mood to study, especially if it will help you forge ahead with your career and goals. Meanwhile, the presence of Venus in your sector of communication can be helpful for finding romance online or off. A Lunar Eclipse in your relationship zone could be a call to explore options that improve your connection with a friend or present partner. Something might need discussing, and the way you do it can hold the key to success.
The presence of Mars in your money zone could stir things up in this sector and encourage you to take action, especially regarding overdue bills or money matters that need attention. Doing it now offers a sense of relief and leaves you feeling more in control. The cosmos is encouraging you to attend to your health and let go of any habits or routines that no longer serve you. Opt for a schedule that enhances your well-being instead.
