geneva to “discredit Pakistan internationally” and influence decision-making at the un human rights council (unhrc) and european Parliament. eu disinfolab, a Brussels-based group, last year uncovered a vast network of 265 coordinated fake local media outlets in 65 countries serving indian interests through reproducing “negative content” about Pakistan online. The network was traced back to a new delhi-based holding company, srivastava group. The network was created by actors behind eP Today, a fake Brussels- based european Parliament disinformationpeddling magazine founded in 2006 but rebranded as eu chronicle in May. eu disinfolab said the present operation was much larger and more resilient than it first suspected in 2019. in its latest report, titled indian chron-
icles, the group “uncovered an entire network of coordinated un-accredited ngos promoting indian interests and criticising Pakistan repeatedly”. The network, it said, aims to reinforce pro-indian and anti-Pakistan sentiment in india. To do so, the network used fake personas of a dead human rights activist and journalists, and also tried to impersonate regular media and press agencies such as the eu observer, the economist and voice of america. one of the most important findings of the investigation was establishing direct links between the srivastava group and at least 10 un-accredited but long-inactive non-governmental organisations, along with several others, which were used to promote indian interests and malign Pakistan internationally.

Two soldiers of the Pakistan army were martyred in an encounter with indian forces on wednesday, according to inter-services Public relations (isPr). Pakistan army troops responded to unprovoked indian aggression at the line of control (loc), dealing “heavy losses” to indian soldiers in men and material, isPr said. The director-general (dg) of the army’s media wing tweeted about the confrontation between the two armies at the loc, stating that indian troops violated the ceasefire agreement yet again in the khuiratta sector. “indian troops initiated cfvs [cavalry
fighting vehicles] in khuiratta sector along #loc. Pakistan army troops responded befittingly. reports of heavy losses 2 indian troops in men & material. during exchange of fire, while fighting valiantly, 2 soldiers, lance naik Tariq & sepoy Zaroof embraced shahadat,” tweeted the dg isPr. relations between the two nucleararmed countries have been tense ever since the Pulwama attack when india blamed Pakistan for having a hand in the assassination of more than 40 central reserve Police force (crPf) soldiers in the occupied kashmir territory. Pakistan vehemently denied the accusations, which had been levelled by india without any evidence.
on february 26, 2019, indian aircraft intruded into Pakistani territory and bombed Balakot, fleeing before the Pakistan air force (Paf) jets chased them out of Pakistan’s airspace. The next day, the Paf shot down two indian army planes and captured wing commander abhinandan varthaman, who was later released by Pakistan as a “peace gesture” towards india. Pakistan-india ties deteriorated further when new delhi scrapped article 370 of the indian constitution, stripping occupied kashmir of its special status and the freedoms that came along with it. ever since then, india’s ceasefire violations across the loc have increased and Pakistan has responded befittingly each time.
