Pemra chief assures ICCI of help with launch of Radio, T V channels

(Pemra) Chairman Muhammad Saleem Baig on Saturday assured the ICCI of all-out cooperate for the launch of launch of an ICCI radio and TV channel saying the start of the radio and tv channel would benefit the business community and the economy

Pemra Chairman Muhammad Saleem Baig was talking with members of a delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) led by its President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari The delegation visited the Pemra office wherein the ICCI president discussed with the host his plan regarding launch of an ICCI radio and TV channel Wakil Khan Director General Licensing Pemra was also present on the occasion

Addressing the delegation the chairman Pemra appreciated the plan of ICCI to start its own radio and TV channel and assured that he would issue their license on priority basis after fulfilling the documentary requirements

He said that the ICCI should coordinate with foreign universities for providing quality business education to students to meet the needs of business and industry On the occasion the ICCI briefed the Pemra chairman about the aims and objectives of radio and TV channels He said that these channels would educate the young generation about the importance of exports promotion which the country desperately needs at this time

He said these channels would promote business role models for youth to motivate them to launch business start ups and create jobs for others

He said that Pakistan s business and economic potential will be highlighted to attract local and foreign investment to Pakistan

Dr Mehmet Pacaci thanked the Finance Minister for support and cooperation

Earlier, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting on Hajj Policy-2023 which was attended by Mufti Abdul Shakoor Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony SAPM on Finance Tariq Bajwa Special Secretary of Finance and senior officers from Finance and Religious Affairs ministries were among the attendees On the occasion the minister vowed to extend maximum support and cooperation to facilitate the hajj pilgrims in fulfilling their religious obligation

The meeting was apprised of the Hajj-2023 policy

It was informed that more than 179,000 Pakistanis were expected to perform Hajj this year

Religious Affairs minister informed the finance minister about certain issues related to foreign exchange and sought his support

Describing the recent quarrel between two groups students at the country s top ranked Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) Islamabad as unfortunate, the administration on Saturday stated that recent events have highlighted the need for a comprehensive policy for campus security and hostels to ensure the safety of students In a press statement issued on Saturday, the administration stated that the QAU was closed on February 27, due to a clash among a “small minority of aggressive and violent” students “In order to prevent any further harm the university was closed and all students were asked to evacuate their hostels within 24 hours As a precautionary measure the female students hostels were cleared on February 28 during the daytime while the boys hostels were not vacated Dozens of students resisted this notification leading to several warnings from the administration to maintain law and order on the campus The involvement of outsiders in these unlawful incidents led to gross indiscipline on campus , stated the administration The administration has decided to devise a plan to address all issues, committees of senior faculty members have been formed to address the multifaceted matters disrupting academic activities from all angles
