PM forms committee to revive operations of ‘neglected’ STZA

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed a committee to revive the operations of the ‘neglected’ Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA) due to his dissatisfaction with its performance.
The PM held a crucial meeting today with high-level officials regarding the STZA. He instructed the committee to present its recommendations within a week and also directed to immediately operationalise the STZA’s board of governors which should consist of experts from the relevant field. The committee will be led by the Finance Minister Ishaq Dar while other members include the Minister of IT and Telecom, the Minister of Law, Chairman BoI, Senator Afnan Ullah, Advisor to PM Ahad Cheema, Special Assistant to PM Jahanzeb Khan, and Chairman CDA.
The prime minister stated that any waste of public funds would not be tolerated. He pointed out that while Pakistani skilled youth were earning a living on their own, the relevant authority was not functioning properly.
The STZA’s true purpose, he emphasized, was to support technology and not real estate. He stressed that there must be no delays in reforming and reviving the organization. A formal ceremony was held to reward the key performers of DOL, with certificates of recognition, to recognize their valued efforts for maintaining the highest level of operational-safety. Funeral in absentia for turkiye quake vicitms to be offered in Faisal Masjid on Friday
Islamabad: The funeral prayers in absentia for the people of Turkiye and Syria who lost their lives in the recent huge earthquake shall be offered in Faisal Masjid on February 10 after jumma prayers at 1:30. On this occasion, faithful shall pray for the eternal peace of Turkish and Syrian Muslims who died in the earthquake. Ambassadors of Muslim countries, prominent political figures, senior officials of Islamabad administration and a large number of citizens from the twin cities will participate in the funeral prayers in absentia. pr

Islamabad: Following a massive 7.8-magnitude earthquake in Turkiye and Syria, NUST Islamabad has joined the Government of Pakistan in its relief efforts for providing humanitarian assistance to the victims of brotherly nations.
So far, NUST has prepared relief aid worth PKR 4 Million for earthquake victims of Turkiye and continues its efforts through Donation Camps established outside Gates 1 and 2, and at Concordia 1, NUST Campus, Islamabad. An appeal has also been launched with messages being disseminated through various platforms of digital media requesting people to be part of the noble cause. pr

Sources said that the high ups of STZA were asking for time from the Prime Minister for the last nine months but the PM did not bother to take briefing from the department merely because the previous government had established this department.
