RUDA celebrates World Wetlands Day

Wetlands are habitats where water plays a major role in regulating the environment and the plant and animal life that goes along with it. Taking this into account, CEO Ravi Urban Development Authority Mr Imran Ameen has visited the Ravi site on Thursday and reviewed the river front. This is also in the light of commemorating the World’s Wetlands Day.

During his visit, Mr Imran said, “We have to be conscious of our choices, reducing pollution conservation of water as wetland wildlife is adept at using water especially Fish Fauna which used to be main aspect and source of livelihood for many people since ages. Similarly, bird ecology including 12 bird species that were recorded from the river, has faced habitat degradation over time, now if we fail to protect nature in this span of time Ravi will be nothing than a drain carrier,” he added. He further said, “We also need to observe the wetland vegetation that includes upland, fringing and aquatic plant-life. Within wetland catchments ecosystems flourish based on energy exchange. told you that he’s in danger?” The prosecutor responded that Ahmed has given the statement himself.

The Hydrology and Environment Department of RUDA are working on the conservation and rehabilitation by planting native flora, creating habitats for wildlife particularly the turtles that were once the yardstick of Ravi’s beauty along with participating on citizen environment projects and initiatives,” he added.

The CEO appreciated Engineering Department for working tirelessly on wildlife ecology restoration study and ways to bring back life into the river, additionally he instructed the teams to beef up surveillance for the conservation of land along with aquatic life.

Later, he visited the RUDA’s industrial site and instructed the team to work on ways to reduce industrial wastes and have impeccable industrial hygiene and espouse a culture of ongoing, steady remediation, which will surely contribute in reducing pollution and improve the environment.

It is pertinent to note that RUDA commemorated the World Wetlands Day also released an inspirational video; “RUDA, where life thrives”.

For his part, the AML chief told the court that a plan was being prepared to either send the PTI chief to jail or to disqualify him prior to elections.

He argued that giving statements to the media was “also my salary in a way”.

“Imran Khan told me he has evidence that Zardari wants to kill him [so] I said that Imran has evidence against Zardari […] You can file a defamation case against me [instead],” he said, adding that he considered Imran’s claims to be true.

Second PML-n lawmaker joins PTI in weeks

A former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) member of the provincial assembly, Rai Haider Ali Khan, has joined the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) party along with his supporters. Khan was previously elected as a Punjab Assembly MPA from the PP-101 Jaranwala district. In a statement, Khan lambasted the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government for “ruining” the country’s economy and expressed his confidence in PTI’s leadership under Khan. The former prime minister welcomed Khan and his supporters to the party, and praised their dedication to PTI’s political agenda. This marks the latest in a series of defections from PML-N to PTI, as former PML-N lawmaker Asif Manzoor Mohal along with his supporters. also recently announced his joining of the party.

Lhc summons ccPo Lahore on plea for recovery of advisor to ex-cM Elahi

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday summoned CCPO Lahore along with a report for February 3 on a petition filed for recovery of Amir Saeed Rawn, advisor to former Punjab chief minister Pervaiz Elahi. Justice Shehram Sarwar Chaudhry heard the petition filed by Adam Saeed, brother of Amir Saeed, in chamber. The petitioner’s counsel argued before the court that Amir Saeed Rawn had been arrested without any legal justification.
