Suri’s resignation: ECP liable to contempt of court: Raisani

The resignation of Qasim Khan Suri from the National Assembly was in fact contempt of court and Election Commission of Pakistan was also liable to contempt by declaring constituency NA-265 as vacant and subsequently announcing election schedule on the seat.

Haji Lashkari Raisani while addressing a press a press conference at Quetta Press Club here on Thursday. Raisani said that success of Qasim Khan Suri as member National Assembly was challenged before Election Commission of Pakistan and later before the High Court of Balochistan, adding that NADRA got the votes certified on the directives of High Court of Balochistan, pointing out that 2500 votes, which were not in the record of Election Commission of Pakistan, were cast in two different polling stations.
He said that after disqualification from the High Court, stay was granted to Qasim Khan Suri by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, adding that stay of the Supreme Court was still intact on 265 constituency.
He said that the resignation of Qasim Khan Suri from the membership of national assembly was contempt of court and Election Commission of Pakistan was also liable to contempt of court by announcing election on the constituency of NA constituency 265.
China assures Pakistan of support in counter terrorism

China’s top leadership has assured its unwavering support to Pakistan in countering terrorism, promoting national action plan, ensuring security of its people and stability of the country.
The assurance was given by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang in a condolence message addressed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in which they condemned the terrorist attack in a mosque in Peshawar, according to a Radio Pakistan’s report. Both leaders expressed condolences on behalf of Chinese government and people to the families of those martyred in the incident and conveyed best wishes for speedy recovery of the injured.
President Xi said China is ready to deepen counter-terrorism cooperation with Pakistan for peace and security in the region and the world. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked the Chinese President and the Premier for their expression of solidarity.
