Nearly 900 tons of relief goods, including food and kitchen items, blankets, warm clothes, cleaning material, and mattresses, were brought by a Turkish ship that anchored at Karachi port
Turkish Consul General in Karachi, Cemal Sangu, on behalf of Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), handed over the relief items to the governor of Sindh, Kamran Tessori Speaking at the ceremony, Sangu said that another vessel carrying 900 tons of relief items will arrive in Karachi on February 4

Balochistan Fisheries Department has started working to construct three jetties in the coastal areas of the province
Talking to APP, an official of the Fisheries department said that the government has planned to construct three jetties at Kund Malir, Aurmara, Jiwani apart from various initiatives taken for the welfare of fishermen
The initiative is a landmark to boost the fisheries business as there is only one landing facility for more than 10,000 fishing vessels and 88,000 fishermen, he added
Under the initiative, modern techniques would be used to build the jetties in the coastal areas in order to promote the fishing business in the province
“The province has the capacity to produce good quality fish and would generate more revenue by providing access to the global market,” he said
Sangu said Tessori, in his remarks, thanked Ankara for its consistent support to the flood victims across the country
The two countries, he observed, share a similar view on regional and global issues, and have stood beside each other in testing times
AFAD Provincial Director Ibrahim Avsar, and Karachi representative of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), Khalil Ibrahim Basaran, also attended the ceremony
Torrential rains and unprecedented floods brought a third of the country under water in September last, affecting some 33 million people, and washing away hundreds of thousands of animals, houses bridges schools hospitals and other infrastructures The near-apocalyptic floods also killed over 1,700 people in addition to causing a whopping loss of 30 billion dollars to the country’s already sputtering economy

(r) Noor ul Amin Mengal Thursday directed the official concerned to take immediate steps to start the Purple Line Metro Bus Service’ on Inter-Junction Principal (IJP) Road The decision was taken during a meeting regarding Metro bus service chaired by him Speaking on the occasion chairman said that the route of the Blue Line bus service should be extended up to Rawat to facilitate maximum commuters Mengal also directed to start Metro bus service on more new routes and extend the jurisdiction of the existing bus services so that standard travel facilities can be provided to the citizens He said that the Silver Line bus service should be started from the Taramri area and all the new metro bus services should be aligned with the existing metro bus service operations Moreover, the chairman has issued instructions that steps should be taken to run electronic buses on a government-to-government basis on the routes of Metro Bus Services It was also decided that the students and citizens above 60 years of age would be given 50 percent discount on the buses, while children below 10 years of age to be provided free traveling facilities Member Engineering, Syed Munawar Shah, Member Administration, Amir Abbas Khan and other senior officials of related departments attended the meeting
