t is rare for two countries, despite enjoying favourable long term bilateral relations, to always see eye to eye on all issues Pakistan has a prominent geostrategic presence in the region but it comes at a cost, being between archrival india and volatile afghanistan it is primarily this positioning and the fact that we are the only Muslim nation in the world to possess nuclear weapons that makes us an important ally for the Usa Pakistan and the Usa have maintained close diplomatic relations over the past 75 years, seeing some very turbulent times along the way Militarily speaking, Pakistan has provided crucial support in two of its wars, both in afghanistan, one against Russia during the 1980s and then the recently ended War on terror against the taliban and al Qaeda although a significant sum of money was provided by the Usa as military aid to Pakistan during the latter conflict, the loss of life and economic cost vastly outweighs the monetary compensation Yet both countries continued to maintain close ties and coordination during those years of active fighting that brought about the worst period of terrorism Pakistan has witnessed in its history, necessitating multiple domestic military operations to clear our badlands of violent terrorists

Over 30 million people in Pakistan have been affected by torrential rains and flash floods across the country leaving over 1,400 dead and 6 4 million in need of immediate support the scale of human suffering witnessed by Un secretary General antónio Guterres led him to call on the international community for urgent financial help Friendly countries including China, the Usa, the Uk, Japan, turkiye, and the Gulf emirates have sent planeloads of food, tents and medicines the government machinery as well as Pakistan army assets are involved in rescue activities, providing temporary shelter, food and medicines to the affected population Holding early elections in the country would deflect attention from the calamity and divert financial and manpower resources to elections, thus further magnifying the scale of the human disaster and all this because Mr khan thinks this is the moment he can win hands down Why can‘t these elections wait for next year when the displaced millions would be in a position to vote?

Besides, those who do get teaching jobs must be trained by experts in the field this should be mandatory so that the newly appointed teachers may nurture the students with conceptual learning and positive outcomes by understanding the psyche of their students the education that is currently provided to students is not ideal, and practical work is hardly a routine in academic institutions although we wish to see our students compete at the international level, our teachers are bound to deliver the contents of the textbook at best in this scenario, how could our students compete at the global level?
H aV E we ever wondered why young children come to the school with drooping shoulders and negative body language but leave the school at the end of the day in high spirits? these two divergent tales of gloom and glee are signs enough that schools are not where our young really want to be it is not a place they look forward to attending every day in the Elizabethan period, schoolboys had to memorise lengthy Latin speeches for school it is easy to understand why a lad might not hurry off to school in the morning knowing a long tedious day of memorisation work awaited him there in our context, replace Latin with English, and it becomes clear that when students have to study through books in a language that is not their mother tongue or even in the national language, schools stop being attractive studies become boring; a burden the other demotivating factor is the unfriendly milieu of school the stern looks of teachers, the fear of being punished for not doing homework and the bullying class fellows, all these work as deterrents Being unable to express their fears at a tender age they drag their feet but parents use force and punishment to make them attend school without bothering to find the reason it sometimes develops in children the habit of lying to their parents and teachers a healthy communication is the only way out and the responsibility rests with parents and teachers who should go out of their way to make children comfortable

a teacher is the basic element of the education sector it is vital to train teachers and provide them adequate salaries While we see this happening in private sector prestigious schools where students study for their O and a levels life of teachers in government run institutions has very different dimensions, with a good salary and training being luxuries one can only think about without any hope of actually getting anywhere close as a first step the relevant department needs to bring reforms in teachers’ recruitment process in the recently conducted test for the recruitment of primary and junior elementary teachers in sindh, one witnessed a number of flaws different criteria for the candidates of villages and cities, and changes in policy during the process there must be a uniform recruitment policy for all candidates, because individuals who live in remote areas may have got their early education in their villages, but they do receive higher education in the cities this puts candidates on an even keel and there should be no leniency for candidates from the rural areas
