mahgul by al zohaib textile When are you launching? Mahgul lawn from Al Zohaib Textile will be launched at the end of March or first week of April 2017. Who did you choose as the face of Mahgul lawn by Al-Zohaib Textile? That's a secret. What's your price range? Rs. 6,000 - 6,500 Tell us a little about your s/s 17 debut lawn? At MAHGUL we have tried to embrace the essence of lawn and its plurality as a pure and simple fabric. There are multiple themes running parallel- a segment of florals; geometric ; oriental and Persian. The inspiration is to seek the simplicity and purity, that is lost - it is to make women aspire to embrace the spirit of beauty. I have tried not to fuss too
much or to reinvent what’s been done for decades but rather I have aimed to introduce a fresh perspective for S/S 2017 Lawn in terms of colours, layouts and original design. We look forward to launching this new venture with our partners at Al Zohaib, a textile house that is well respected for quality and who have a reputation for innovation. They have a fresh and forward thinking vision for lawn in the future and it fits right in with what we imagine the future of lawn to be. Together, we hope our debut S/S’17 lawn collection introduces a fun and fresh lawn perspective for women.

FOMO we got a chance to chat with the lovely marya javed, who is the owner of the super cool, newly found and first of its kind youtube channel called “NO FOMO”, it doesn’t just end there, she also works at khoosat films as content head and was previously a partner at pakistan’s leading fashion blog “awardrobe affair”. this multitalented girl is also a part time stylist and has styled many campaigns for leading brands.
Can you tell us more about “NO FOMO” Yes! NO FOMO is a passion project which has come into being as a culmination of my experience in the digital space and my love for films. I wanted to create video content which was honest, fun and useful! In terms on interviews, I have been a huge fan of people like Ellen and Jimmy Fallon and love their unrehearsed, uncalculated feel. The idea is to create a similar content here in Pakistan. Obviously, the scale isn’t the same but that’s the inspiration. But NO FOMO extends further to videos on fashion, makeup and lifestyle. 40

What is your background, tell us a little about yourself? I am essentially a business graduate, with an MBA in HR. I started off with hardcore corporate jobs but realized soon enough that my heart’s not in there. I joined my sister’s blog, Awardrobe Affair and worked with her for two years, which was a lot of fun. But my commitments at Khoosat films (films being my biggest passion) didn’t allow me to work on the blog on the side. So I moved on to create something of my own, something that brings together all that I love.

How did you come up with this name? I didn’t! My friend (or sister from another mister, as I call her) Khizra Munir, CEO CoPakistan, came up with it. She suggested it and I instantly loved it! What should the people look forward to on “NO FOMO”? A lot of fun, candid interviews, or chats as I call them. The one that’s up already with Jimmy Khan is an example; he spoke of his recent crush. I would like to do makeup tutorials, fashion videos, movie reviews, fitness videos, travel videos and many more things. Where do you see this channel in the next five years? I just want it to be something that makes me happy and proud. That’s the only aspiration and obviously, acceptance & success. Other than that, I don’t set 5 year milestones. That’s too long a time to know what I’d want then.
I worked for a little bit as Assistant Director on the same project. And as I say, thereafter I had tasted blood. I wrote down some stories I had in mind, produced a TV show, assisted on a telefilm. Just recently I have made my first short film! It’s just a start and I have a very long way to go but I am glad to be doing something that I love so dearly. As someone who has tried many fields, tell us what does it take to figure out your true passion and how do you pursue it? Firstly, it takes the need and the want, you should be looking for you to find something. Secondly, it takes some amount of courage. You can be broke for years, you will have people doubt you, you will have moments of self-doubt too. At the same time your friends from college will be travelling in fancy cars by now. If you can brave all of that and look for what drives you, with an honest intent, you will find it. But I also think, there’s no shame in doing a job that pays your bills! If you don’t find what you love doing, just love what you are doing!
Who do you consider the channel’s competition? Frankly, I am going about doing what I want to do; it hasn’t changed into a business for me, yet. But there is competition definitely; some magazines have started doing videos, there are blogs with huge followings doing videos. I do think everybody has something different to offer, so I don’t get stressed about that. How can people stay updated on what’s going with “NO FOMO”? The concept of a YouTube channel is fairly new in Pakistan. I get this question a lot. You have to look up the name NO FOMO on YouTube, find the channel and click on the “Subscribe Button”; that way every time a new video is up, you will be updated. You should also follow the NO FOMO Instagram and Facebook page for updates. Who would you like to bring to your show? Many people.! If I was to make a dream list, it would include Blake Sheldon, Ellen, Anna Wintour, Beyoncé, Ranbir Kapoor, Imtiaz Ali, the list is never ending. Locally I am aiming to get everyone that I’d like so not giving away their names just now. May just bring the publishers of this interview! Tell us a little about your role at Khoosat Films and how you ended up there? I started off by auditioning for a play by Sarmad Khoosat called Mor Mahal, got selected and did a small part. Then 2017
