Our Little Adventure at CHRISTMAS

Written & Illustrated by Tabitha Paige
Deep in the forest, in a den all his own, lived a badger who loved a tree that he’d grown.

Though winter meant slumber, he’d made an exception— for this tree, his treasure, was his true obsession.

Each Christmas he trimmed it with wonders to see— rare baubles and trinkets, like shells from the sea.

But the night before Christmas, a fierce storm blew in.

It ripped through the forest with snow and strong wind.

The next morning, Badger came out to a sight . . . “My priceless possessions—destroyed overnight!”
“Christmas is ruined beyond repair. Why did this happen? It just isn’t fair.”

Red Bird had seen the event from above. He wanted to do something Badger would love.

“I have an idea that could save the day!” Bird quickly took flight and hurried away.

He came to a clearing and whistled a call to summon his friends and gather them all.

Rabbit peeked out from his hole in the ground, while Fox, Deer, and Squirrel all gathered around.
Then Bird said,
“Badger feels hopeless and sad. The storm smashed his treasures, each one that he had.”

“We all know the joy his Christmas tree brings. Let’s help him decorate with new special things!”

Fox smiled and said, “I’ve got treasures to share. Let’s move quickly—there’s no time to spare.”
