It’s wonderful to welcome you to this year’s Princess Alice Hospice Summer Fete & Dog Show. We’re so grateful to Sandown and The Jockey Club for making this possible, along with our generous sponsors. Thank you for joining us today. 80% of the funding we need to provide our care and support, free of charge, comes from fundraising, retail, donations and legacies, and our Summer Fete plays an important role in that.
Every day of the year we’re supported by our amazing volunteering community in numerous different ways; today is a special day for us to come together with our wider community. On behalf of everybody at Princess Alice Hospice, thank you sincerely for your support, which will allow us to continue to deliver free, compassionate care to local people who need it most.

Light the Night – 3 October
Light the Night is an evening walk through London which brings several London hospices together in a powerful act of collaboration.
As the city lights up, thousands of people will walk side by side in memory of loved ones, taking time to reflect, remember and celebrate lives that will never be forgotten. This unique event is an opportunity to come together with family, friends, and communities from across the capital, united by love, loss and hope.
More details will be shared soon. In the meantime, you can register your interest using the QR code.
Entertainment and Running Order
12:30pm: Fete starts, Dog Show registration opens
12:30pm: Performance from The New MUGS
The New MUGS play the best crowd-pleasers ever made… on ukuleles. Since 2014, they’ve been entertaining crowds around the South, including sets at Carfest, Brooklands Classic Car Show and The Handmade Festival. They play a huge variety of songs, from the Beatles and ABBA to The Killers and George Ezra. Plus, there’s always one or two surprises.
1:15pm: Performance from Jonny Fogg
Singer songwriter, acoustic rock with a bit of soul and country.
1:45pm: Registration for the Dog Show closes
2:15pm: Dog Show starts
3:15pm: Dog Show ends

Performance from The Gospel Collective
A collective is something done by individuals acting as a group. This perfectly sums up what a choir is; wonderfully unique individuals who work towards the same goal of singing together.
These choirs are for those who think they can sing and those who have been told they can’t. It is a safe space to have a go at singing in a choir, to create meaningful friendships, to grow in confidence and to develop your musical ability.

Our Fundraising Impact
Mike’s Story
When Ania was told her treatment was no longer working, her family faced the unimaginable. With three young children, she and her husband Mike turned to Princess Alice Hospice for support.
“The nurses were brilliant, just fantastic,” Mike recalls. “They were Ania’s first point of call… those points of contact were just unbelievable.” The Hospice team supported Ania at home, managing her care and helping Mike through the practical and emotional challenges. “It’s very difficult being the carer,” he says. “They took the burden off me so I could be a husband.”
As Ania’s condition worsened, the Hospice helped make it possible for her to die at home, surrounded by her family. “It was the best thing… we were all there together,” Mike says.
After Ania’s death, support continued through bereavement groups for both Mike and the children. “There’s a feeling you’re not alone,” he reflects. For his children, being with others who understand “has been a huge part of the grieving process.”
“Three years on, they’re still there for us,” Mike says. “I couldn’t speak highly enough of the help we’ve had.”
