For Sale: a 2014 Ferri ZMTE 1600 Flail Mower, with hydraulic control and sidearm extend capability for reach to the outside of the tractor for roadside mowing options and center mowing. Accepting bids until June 5 , $3500 minimum offer. th Call Larry Lynch, DPE Manager if interested, 970-731-5635 Ext #5
FERRI ZMTE SERIES OF SLOPE MOWERS ARE DESIGNED FOR MAXIMUM REACH TO THE RIGHT OF THE TRACTOR CENTER LINE. THE MOWER GEARBOX IS MOUNTED OUTSIDE THE TRANSMISSION WHICH ALLOWS FOR SEVERAL MORE INCHES OF REACH.
ZMTE MOWERS REQUIRE MOUNTING ON A CATEGORY 2 THREE POINT HITCH.
OVERALL TRACTOR WEIGHT IS CRITICAL TO MAINTAINING STABILITY WHEN USING THIS MACHINE IN A FULL OFFSET POSITION. TRACTORS SHOULD BE FITTED WITH TWO SETS OF REMOTES TO POWER THE TWO CYLINDERS ON THE UNIT ONE CYLINDER CONTROLS IN AND OUT FUNCTIONS, AND THE OTHER CYLINDER CONTROLS THE SLOPE ANGLE OF THE FLAIL HEAD.
ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT FEATURES OF THE FERRI SLOPE MOWER IS THAT IT CAN MOW DIRECTLY BEHIND THE TRACTOR, OR OFFSET TO THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE TRACTOR. WITH THE MOWER IN AN OFFSET POSITION, THE FLAIL HEAD CAN ANGLE DOWN THE SLOPE, OR UP THE SLOPE DEPENDING ON THE CONTOUR OF THE TERRAIN. THIS FEATURE MAKES THIS MACHINE INCREDIBLY VERSATILE, AND WELL SUITED TO ROADSIDE MAINTENANCE.
BECAUSE THE CUTTING HEAD IS A FLAIL MOWER DESIGN, THESE MACHINES ARE VERY SAFE TO USE IN ROADSIDE APPLICATIONS. THESE MACHINES ARE TYPICALLY FITTED WITH LONG WEARING HAMMER BLADES, SO THEY HAVE THE ABILITY TO HANDLE BRUSH AS WELL AS HEAVY GRASS. THE MACHINES ARE EASY TO MOUNT ON A TRACTOR THREE-POINT HITCH, AND EASY TO REMOVE, FREEING THE TRACTOR UP FOR OTHER DUTIES.

GREENBELT THINNING
AND MITIGATION WORK TO BEGIN THIS MONTH
The board of directors approved greenbelt mitigation proposals for forest thinning contractors last month after a competitive bid process and work will begin in May. Most of the larger greenbelts in Pagosa Lakes were mitigated in 2023-25. This year contractors will be moving into a number of the smaller, meandering greenbeltsinseveralsubdivisions.
In Lake Forest Estates greenbelt mitigation work will include the greenbelts behind and between homesonAntelopeAvenue(westofN PagosaBlvdnearGarnett,Ruby,Willow and Agate Courts). In Twincreek Villageworkwillincludethegreenbelts below and above Pony Place, running behind all the homes on Pony Pl. (and above Juniper Ct). Additionally, a larger greenbelt situated between Woodland Dr and Granada Pl will be mitigated, as well as the long greenbeltthatisadjacentandparallel to Piedra Road from Laurel Dr, through Mission Dr and up to and a little beyond the Woodland Dr. thinning heavy oak brush along Piedra Road near the overhead power line, almost 2/3ofamile.
InLakePagosaParkworkwillincludea greenbelt adjacent to Aspenglow Bvd. along the roadway east of Monument Ave. (both sides of the road) and a greenbeltthatisatthecornerofNorth Pagosa Blvd and Aspenglow Blvd. In Pines II work will include a long hillside greenbelt above Midiron and below Handicap Ave. (above Mashie Ct and SouthDriverCt).
In Lakewood Village quite a lot of mitigation work will involve a couple greenbelt tracts, a greenbelt near Oakwood Cir and Lakewood St (behind Teakwood and Rosewood Ct), a greenbelt below Woodridge Cir (adjacent to the school property). Additionally, under separate agreements the contractors will be workingtomitigatetheforestedportion ofthe36-acreschoolproperty(paidby ArchuletaSchoolDistrict).
In most of these greenbelt tracts a number of trees will be removed to create better spacing between tree canopies and improve forest health. Those logs will be cut up into smaller, manageable rounds and stockpiled in areas that are accessible by PLPOA owners for firewood. Announcements will be made when and where that firewood material is available. All work will be in accordance with Colorado State Forest Service guidelines for defensible space zones 2 and 3 where underbrush will be removed and/or clumped and trees thinned. Slash will be treated on site and broadcast according to standards. Please avoid venturing into greenbelts while contractors are present, heavy equipment and tree felling work will be occurring. It’s very difficult for these guys to work effectively and safely if humansarepresent.
