WATER RESTRICTIONS

No significant changes in the drought situation.

Hatcher is still full; the river is flowing below the median but holding. The District will remain in Drought *Stage 1, which limits watering between 6PM and 9am with rate multipliers for residential users, using more than 5,000 gallons.

All District customers are limited to the watering schedule, including commercial users and raw water users.

CLICK HERE TO REQUEST A PICK UP We’re taking the reins back this year: Pine Needle Pick-Up Guidelines Pick-ups are scheduled on a weekly cycle WITH THE 1ST pick up schedule to start MAY 6th: Any requests submitted by 5:00 PM on Monday will be included in that week’s route, beginning Wednesday.

Requests submitted Tuesday through the following Monday will be scheduled for the next week’s pick-up.

Important Reminders: Plastic bags will not be collected.

Only recyclable paper bags—available locally at Ace—will be accepted.

Each property is allotted 20 bags per year at no cost.

After the initial 20 bags, additional pick-ups will still be scheduled at a rate of $4.25 per bag.

Sustainability Effort: We’re proud to share that collected pine needles will not be sent to the landfill. Instead, they will be repurposed locally for composting and soil production, supporting area farms and sustainable practices.

– PLEASE HELP PROTECT OUR COMMUNITY

Dear PLPOA Homeowners, As we enter the summer season, the PLPOA Department of Community Standards would like to remind all property owners of the importance of maintaining their lots and landscaping to reduce wildfire risk throughout our community.

Tall grass, weeds, and other dry vegetation can quickly become fuel for a wildfire.

Even a small spark from equipment, a vehicle, lightning strikes, or other ignition sources can spread rapidly through unmanaged vegetation, threatening homes, neighborhoods, and emergency response efforts.

To help protect your property and our community, homeowners are encouraged to: • Mow and maintain grasses and weeds regularly.

• Remove dead vegetation, brush, and other combustible materials.

• Create and maintain defensible space around structures.

• Keep driveways and access routes clear for emergency vehicles.

• Properly dispose of yard debris and vegetation cuttings.

• Follow all fire restrictions and local burn regulations.

The PLPOA Improvement Design Standards and Community Standards regulations require property owners to maintain their lots in a safe and orderly condition.

Properties with excessive vegetation may be subject to compliance review and enforcement action when conditions create a fire hazard or community nuisance.

Please be advised that compliance inspections are underway.

Our goals are education, cooperation, and prevention. By working together, we can reduce wildfire risk and help preserve our community's safety, beauty, and property values.

Tips to avoid problems with Bears and other Wildlife:

Hang bird seed, suet and hummingbird feeders on a wire between trees instead of on your deck or porch. Bring all bird feeders in at night or refrain from having them out this time of year.

Make your property safe by keeping garbage out of reach and smell of bears, skunks and other animals. Use bear-proof trash containers. Be sure garbage cans are emptied regularly. Periodically clean garbage cans to reduce residual odor - using hot water and chlorine bleach. Use a small amount of ammonia or cayenne pepper in the garbage to discourage scavenging. Store trash in a bear proof enclosure.

If you have no way of keeping your garbage indoors: freeze your stinky food garbage and put it into your garbage can the morning of trash pick-up.

When putting your garbage out by the road, keep lids closed tightly. Birds also like to spread garbage around and will tear open holes in plastic bags to get to what is inside.

If you have pets, do not store their food or feed them outside.

Do not put fruit, melon rinds and other tasty items in mulch or compost piles.

Clean outdoor BBQs thoroughly after each use and store inside if possible.

Most bears sighted in residential areas within bear habitat do not cause any damage. If a bear doesn't find abundant food, it will move on.
