Enter the 2025 Wabash Trace Nature Trail
Runners can save on entry fees for the Sept. 13, 2025, 14th annual Wabash Trace Nature Trail Marathon, Half Marathon, and Marathon Relay by registering by July 8 online or in person. Register to run online at www.getmeregistered. com (search Wabash or Shenandoah) or print the registration form at www. sciaiowa.com. Mail or drop off forms to Shenandoah Chamber & Industry Association, 619 W. Sheridan Avenue, Shenandoah, IA 51601. Entry forms are also available at SCIA and the Depot Restaurant. Last day to register is Sept. 12 in
person with the race timer at packet pickup or online by Sept. 10. Early Registration saves runners $30 on the entry fees for the marathon and half and $10 per runner on the relay.
The race is better than ever, with new permanent mile marker signs, a flatter, faster out and back course, small-town runner support, and the ever-present beauty of the Wabash Trace Trail.
Ninety percent of the race is run on the beautiful Wabash Trace Nature Trail, which is a mostly flat, tree-lined converted railroad line crossing through the scenic Iowa countryside, with a

crushed limestone surface — the perfect place for a cool, shaded, long run on a cushioned path. Several bridges along the trail have been rebuilt this past year.
The race is a fundraiser for Southwest Iowa Nature Trails, Shenandoah Chamber & Industry Association, and Imogene Sons & Daughters. The race is supported again this year by major sponsor Green Plains.
Race directors have always worked to ensure that the most important amenities for the runners were in place, including recruiting many volunteers who contribute to the race as road guards and
water station attendants. First aid & emergency service on the trail are provided by Shenandoah Medical Center and county EMS and sheriff’s departments. The race runs across Fremont and Page counties.
The Wabash Trace Trail races are electronically chip-timed. The marathon is USATF certified and a Boston Marathon qualifier. Bus transportation from Shenandoah to the half marathon start in Imogene is provided. City of
Shenandoah helps with course marking, showers at the Memorial Armory and traffic control in city limits, as well as, T-shirts, medals, snacks and beverages at the finish, including free beer for runners and volunteers by the Depot Restaurant at the awards presentation which includes prizes of hundreds of dollars in SCIA gift certificates which benefits Chamber businesses. The marathon and relay start and finish in Shenandoah in front of the Historical Museum at 800 W. Sheridan Avenue. The half marathon starts in Imogene near St. Parick Church. There is a six-hour time limit. Walkers are encouraged to sign up for the half marathon. Entry fees are non-refundable and nontransferable.

Patricia Lynn Kent Woerth was born on August 15, 1949 in Clarinda, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Elton and Phyllis Maxine (Mackerill). She entered into eternal peace on June 10, 2025 in Omaha, Nebraska. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shenandoah. Burial followed in the Rose Hill Cemetery. The family greeted friends at the Wabash Memorial Chapel on Monday evening. Memorials in Patty’s name may be directed to the family. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Phyllis Kent; grandchildren Samantha and Shawn Falk; and her beloved husband Max Woerth. Those left to cherish her memory include her children Michael (Robin) Falk of LaVista, NE, Brian (Julie) Falk of Shenandoah, IA and Lori (Reggie) LePorte also of Shenandoah, IA; grandchildren Anthony Falk of Arizona, Katelyn Johnson of Bellevue, NE, Seth Johnson of Shenandoah, IA, Natalie Johnson (Austin Shaffer) of Des Moines, IA and Leanna LePorte of Shenandoah, IA; sisters Cheryl Kent of Shenandoah, IA, Marlene (Sam) McGargill of Imogene, IA and Peggy Kent of Shenandoah, IA; numerous niece, nephews other relatives and a host of friends. Patty was so excited for the arrival of her first great-grandchild who is due in July. The Wabash Memorial Chapel in Shenandoah was honored to have been entrusted with the arrangements.
