Support Local Holiday Campaign
Nov. 10–Dec. 15
Clarinda shoppers are encouraged to shop local and support hometown
businesses during this fiveweek holiday promotion. For every $10 spent at participating businesses (up to $100 per visit), shoppers receive an entry into weekly prize drawings. Double entries are awarded on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, and more than $5,000 in prizes will be given away. Grand prize winners will be announced Dec. 15.

ring at the Chamber or PCSB Bank and take a delicious stroll around the Clarinda square. Now in its 18th year, this favorite holiday tradition features sweet and savory samples from local businesses while celebrating community spirit and smalltown pride.
Spirit on the Square
Dec. 6 | Begins at noon
Clarinda’s nostalgic Christmas celebration returns with low- and no-cost family activities on the courthouse lawn and throughout
downtown. Enjoy music, shopping, arts and crafts classes for all ages, and visits with Santa. Some classes require pre-registration due to limited space. Founded in 2021, Spirit on the Square brings back the warmth and togetherness of Clarinda’s Christmases past.

Clarinda Regional Health Center honored for Rural Health Leadership and Community Impact
In celebration of National Rural Health Day, Clarinda Regional Health Center (CRHC) has been recognized as a 2025 Community Star by the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH). The award honors individuals and organizations making extraordinary contributions to rural health nationwide, and CRHC was selected as one of only 47 national honorees, exemplifying innovation, compassion, and collaboration.
CRHC, a Critical Access Hospital and cornerstone of care in southwest Iowa, also earned multiple accolades in 2025, including Becker’s 150 Top Places to Work in Healthcare and Best of Midwest awards in Mental Health Services, Assisted Living, and Orthopedic Surgery.

SMC welcomes 2 new providers
Dr. Junaid Ebrahim will offer internal medicine and primary care for adults.
Ebrahim completed his medical education at Yenepoya University and went on to complete his residency in internal medicine at Northwell Health/Nuvance –Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York, where he served as Chief Resident.
Ebrahim's dedication to education and mentorship earned him the Exemplary Academic Teacher Award two years in a row.
Ebrahim is passionate about providing personalized, evidencebased care with a special focus on
diabetes and obesity management, infectious disease, and complex chronic conditions.
His thoughtful and patiencentered approach makes him a great addition to the SMC team.
Outside work, Ebrahim enjoys life with his wife — also a physician — and their daughter.
He loves staying active by playing basketball and tennis and enjoys discovering new cuisines wherever he goes.

Kelly Kline, ARNP
Kelly Kline, ARNP, will offer women's health services.
She grew up in Villisca, Iowa, and began her career as a Registered Dietitian after earning her bachelor's degree in dietetics from Iowa State University.
After 10 years in dietetics, she pursuded her passion for nursing, obtaining her BSN at Mercy College of Health Sciences in Des Moines, and most recently completing the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Clarkson College in Omaha.
During her training, Klinediscovered a special passion for women's health. She enjoys supporting women through all stages of life by offering support, edication, and compassionate care.
Her years as a military spouse
taught her resilience, adaptability, and a deep respect for service— qualities she carries into her practice every day.
Ourside work, Kline and her husbad Eric, of more than 21 years, stay busy raising their four children — Sam, Jack, Charlie, and Lucy.
Kline also enjoys cheering on her kids in their many activities and spending time on the golf course.

Shenandoah Schools receive $12,000 grant

The Shenandoah Community School District is celebrating a generous $12,000 Conover Foundation grant, provided through Northwest Bank, to support a wide range of music, theater, and fine arts opportunities for students across the district.
The Conover Grant is awarded annually to schools
in communities served by Northwest Bank and is dedicated to enriching students’ lives through the arts by promoting empathy, creativity, and meaningful human connection.
This year’s funding will help Shenandoah purchase theater and stage supplies, expand hands-on art experiences, attend live performances, and provide unique learning opportunities that students
may not otherwise be able to access.
Grant recipients include high school art instructor Crystal Wittmer, whose program will use the funding for art museum trips and the purchase of updated photography cameras.
The High School Musical program, through Ashleigh and Elliot Smith, benefited from a professional clinicianled workshop and a student trip
