PHOTOGRAPHY (Ages 10-13) Cost $240 See the world through the camera’s lens! This course will explore a variety of creative outlets through the lens of photography. Using DSLR cameras (provided by Pacific Ridge School) students will learn both technical and artistic skills while capturing a range of subjects including portraits, landscapes, and abstracts. We will craft imaginative projects using iPhoto and Photoshop while practicing how to offer positive and effective critique to fellow artists. At the conclusion of the course, students will compile a portfolio of their work PHOTO JOURNALISM (Ages 10-13) Cost $240 Be the reporter who gets the scoop! This is an introductory course in multi-media photojournalism. The hands-on workshop will progress from basic camera operation and the news “one shot” to storytelling that may incorporate audio, video or other multimedia components. At the conclusion of the course, you will compile a portfolio of your own multi-media work.

3D ART (Ages 10-14) Cost $240 Bring your artwork to life! In this 3D class, you will design and construct exciting abstract sculpture forms using a variety of materials and techniques. You will learn to use the basic principles of design to create, express and analyze your pieces. At the conclusion of this class you will have learned how to use form and space as an artist and will be ready to present your creations.

CREATIVE WRITING: CREATING A GRAPHIC NOVEL (Ages 10-14) Cost $240 Tell your story in pictures! In this course, you will have the opportunity to develop and construct a short graphic novel. You will brainstorm ideas relating to plot, character, and art; learn about various storytelling, storyboarding, and fiction writing techniques; engage in meaningful peer critique as you move through the revision process; and learn how to bind a book. By the end of the week, you will have a bound graphic novel of your own creation!

DANCE: THE GREATEST SHOWMAN (Ages 10-13) Cost $240 Get ready for this summer’s dance camp….The Greatest Showman!

During this fun, high energy camp you will learn routines using various styles of dance including jazz, ballet, hip hop, and contemporary to songs from the hit movie The Greatest Showman! This program will allow you to improve your technique while also learning how to learn choreography quickly. The week wouldn’t be complete without a performance opportunity, so we will end with a live show for parents to watch!

TINKERING LAB (Ages 10-13) Cost $240 Use your imagination to become a creator and innovator! Students in this course will engage in open-ended design challenges using real machine parts, hardware, and construction materials. We will learn through doing, celebrate our mistakes, and work together to design and build. Join us to build something big!

OUTDOOR FUN (Ages 10-13) Cost $160 Let’s get moving! The Outdoor Fun program gets campers active with a wide variety of outdoor activities that will include PE-style games, sports, hikes on local trails around campus, water-balloon battles, gardening, and more. Instructors will focus on fun, fair play, cooperation, and enjoying the outside world.

WOODWORKING (Ages 10-14) Cost $240 Learn how be handy with cool tools! This course is designed to make students feel comfortable using hand tools and power tools to build, fix, solve problems and create. You will receive instruction in different ways to cut, attach, shape, and finish wood and other materials, while also learning how to handle tools safely. You’ll leave camp with a finished project of your own design and the knowledge of how to use tools to create solutions.

MAGIC THE GATHERING CAMP (Ages 10-14) Cost $220 Friendship? Fun? Fantasy? Magic! In this two-part camp, you will have the opportunity to delve into the history, tactics, and enjoyment of Magic: The Gathering, the world’s most popular strategy trading card game. Ever played Yu-gi-Oh or Pokémon? Find out what they are all based off of! Over the course of either one or two weeks, we will spend time studying realistic deck building, in-game strategies, how to compete in a healthy, enjoyable manner, and so much more!

Whether you are a beginner or a veteran, come test your skills against other members of the Magic community and be prepared to teach, learn, play and have a great time.

THEATER (Ages 10-13) Cost $240 Let's put on a play! Based on age and experience level, students will dramatize well-known stories through a combination of script-based work and improvisation, or develop a short showcase featuring monologues, scenes, and student-written work. Depending on class interest, there is the possibility of incorporating songs and basic movement. In this course, you will receive coaching in acting, movement, stage presence, delivering lines, and working with a cast.

The course will culminate with an informal performance.

SONGWRITER’S WORKSHOP (Ages 12-16) Cost $240 Have a song inside of you that wants to come out? Learn how to craft a melody, using the tried and true tools of basic music theory.

Learn how to harmonize that melody with simple chords. Explore variations in timing to add expression. Try new ways of developing lyrical ideas. This all-genres course is for anyone who wants to gain deeper insights into musicality, and to effectively capture musical ideas on paper, fretboard or tape

ROBOTICS (Ages 10-13) Cost $240 Inspire your inner engineer when you design and build robots with LEGO® MINDSTORMS®! Using computer programming, high-quality motors, sensors, gears, and other technical components, students will gain a better understanding of how technology works. We will test, troubleshoot, and revise designs to improve robot performance as we teach our robots to interact with the world around them. Students will also explore mathematical concepts such as estimation, measurement, and velocity. Engineers of all levels of experience are invited to join!

BOYS BASKETBALL CLINIC (Ages 10-17) Cost $190 Calling basketball players of all ages and skill levels! Whether you are just learning about the game of basketball or are a seasoned veteran, the summer is a great time to work on your basketball skills.

During these sessions, students improve upon fundamentals while having fun and learning team-building concepts. Players are grouped according to age and skill level for optimal learning and improvement.

COED YOUTH VOLLEYBALL CAMP (Ages 11-13) Cost $130 See you at the net! This clinic is for athletes who will compete in a position on their middle school team. Each session combines individual skill work, position training, group drills & various competition formats. We also emphasize attacking, blocking, serving and defense, as well as team offensive systems and defensive systems.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL CAMP (Ages 14-17) Cost $130 Bump, set, spike! This clinic is for athletes who will compete in a position on their high school team in the fall. Each session combines individual skill work, position training, group drills & various competition formats. We also emphasize advanced attacking, blocking, serving and defense, as well as advanced team offensive systems and defensive systems.

IMPROV THEATER (Ages 10-13) Cost $240 No script? No problem! Using a series of improvisation games and exercises, students will develop not only confidence and creativity but also listening and public speaking skills. We will learn how to trust and support our scene partners, build an ensemble, and provide a full story arc within an improvised sketch. The course will culminate with an informal performance in which you can use your newfound skills.

SPEECH & DEBATE (Ages 12-15) Cost $240ost $240 Let your voice be heard! In the first week of this two-week sequence, students will develop public speaking skills by learning about a variety of speech styles, ranging from humorous or dramatic readings to original oratory. In the second week, we will build on these skills with an introduction to debate. Students will work together to research a topic, write an argument for or against, and present their case through a combination of pre-written speeches, cross-examination, and extemporaneous speaking. For both weeks, the final day of the session will conclude with an opportunity for students to showcase their work. Students can enroll in one or both weeks.

START YOUR OWN BAND (Ages 12-16) Cost $240 Always wanted to be in a band, but need help getting started? This week-long intensive will help you and your bandmates learn how to put songs together, whether they are popular songs, classics, or original creations. Learn just enough music theory to kick your creativity into high gear, turning a handful of chords into a whole set of music. Learn to play cohesively, locking rhythms with your bandmates and supporting each other by creating space for improvisational exploration. You’ll take away techniques and skills necessary to continue on your own, or with your newly-formed band!

MIDDLE SCHOOL & UPPER SCHOOL ESSAY WRITING (Grades 7-12) Cost $260 Write with ease! In this workshop, students will practice and gain confidence in all aspects of the essay-writing process, especially the ability to argue persuasively. They will learn how to read for writing, brainstorm, develop a strong thesis statement, use supporting evidence, expand and analyze ideas, draft, and gain comfort with revision as the most important part of the writing process. This workshop will benefit all students, whether they are building their writing foundations or simply wish to gain more practice and confidence with persuasive essay writing.

ALGEBRA BRUSH-UP Cost $260 Start Algebra II on the right foot! After a year of Geometry, the foundations of Algebra can be a bit rusty. The goal of this workshop is to provide a strong review of the important concepts of Algebra I. Analytical skills are stressed more than simple mechanical skills, as students work on many models represented by linear, quadratic, and exponential functions as well as systems of equations. The graphing calculator Texas Instrument (TI-84) is used as a learning tool. Don’t be stressed at the beginning of your next math class!

BLOGGING & THE WEB (Ages 12-15) Cost $240 Enter the blogosphere! In this introductory blogging course, you will learn how to find your niche, start a website and develop a stream of engaging content. During the course, we’ll discuss what makes a blog successful and how to build an audience. For students over the age of 13, we’ll also discuss successful social media techniques to leverage an audience. Students can bring laptops, but computers will be available.

At the conclusion of the course, you will understand the practices behind building and running a successful blog and will have a webpage you can use going forward.

CODING CONFIDENTLY (Ages 12-15) Cost $240 Wouldn’t it be cool to create one of the many applications or games that take up so much of our daily lives? Get started with this camp! Students will have the opportunity to create as they learn real-world coding concepts and techniques and build multiple interactive games and applications. Campers will leave camp with enough experience to continue building at home and start to utilize those skills across multiple programming languages.

ANIMATION & FILM (Ages 10-13) Cost $240 Write, direct and produce your own movie! In this class, you’ll learn how to make 2D, 3D, and Stop-motion animated short films. During the first week, we will study the different forms of animation around the Stop-action method, and the second week will focus on digital animation. By the end of this class, you will design characters, write a script treatment, produce your own shorts, and publish them on the internet.

MUSICAL THEATER: THE GREATEST SHOWMAN (Ages 10-13) Cost $240 Perform like the Greatest Showman! In this course, you will receive coaching in acting, stage presence, movement, delivering lines, improvisation music and working with a cast. We’ll develop our own story, characters, and dialogue supported by actual songs from The Greatest Showman. We will work towards mounting an informal performance in collaboration with ensemble members from the morning’s 'The Greatest Showman' Dance Camp for family and friends.

SKATEBOARD DESIGN & BUILD WORKSHOP (Ages 10-14) Cost $240 + $50 materials fee Design and build your own custom skateboard deck! You’ll first sketch your ideas, then model them using CAD 3D-design software. You will then use Roarockit vacuum-forming technology to laminate and bend wood, create a foam mold and laminate/press maple veneers into a molded shape. Once your board is pressed, you will create a template and cut out your board, learning the safety and basic operation of power tools. After some final sanding and sealing, you can apply art to add a fun, custom touch. You will leave the course with your very own custom skateboard deck and foam mold!

CREATIVITY IN THE KITCHEN (Ages 10-13) Cost $240 Want to start cooking like a chef? This class will start you on your way!

You will be chopping, frying, sautėing and exploring flavors to unleash your creative side. "Playing with your food” is A-okay when creating and decorating your dishes! Together, we will learn to make several courses, from soup and salad to main dishes and desserts. We will prepare a sweet surprise to share with parents on the last day of camp. Yum!

The basketball camp was so fun and the coaches were wonderful with the kids. It sparked an interest in my son and he now plays basketball on his middle school team.
