Bridging Sports, Service and Dentistry

ALEXANDER SAMUEL, DMD, Dentists of Nona // Office 885 // Central Florida region // Partnered with PDS: 4 years
Fixing an athlete’s broken teeth moments before a game is not an everyday occurrence for PDS-supported owner dentist Alexander Samuel, DMD, but it does happen more than you’d expect.
While volunteering recently at the Healthy Athletes Special Smiles event hosted by the Special Olympics USA Games, Dr. Samuel and Dental Assistant Mercedes Rosario were needed to repair a broken tooth just one hour before the athlete was scheduled to compete. Luckily, the athlete was in good hands. This was not the first time Dr. Samuel was called into action at an athletic competition. He also serves as the team dentist for the Orlando City professional soccer team.
Dr. Samuel views his work as a way of molding his favorite hobbies into one—a love for dentistry and a passion for service.
Dr. Samuel lives a lifestyle of selfless service. He also provided dental care to the homeless and the elderly in local nursing homes.
“Service is the main reason why I pursued dentistry. My aunt is a dentist in India and it was through her service I was inspired to go to dental school.”
Dr. Samuel hopes to travel back to India to serve. In the meantime, we are grateful to him and his team for helping patients deliver extraordinary performance both on and off the field.
