The Story of the Land, a Palestine History Workshop, is a series of immersive, experimental, and interactive workshops designed for Palestinians of all educational backgrounds and knowledge levels. Instead of a comprehensive overview of history, the series will propose a decolonial framework through which we will learn to read, see, document, and teach Palestine’s turbulent history. The workshops will focus on specific places and case studies from our varied geographies as well as readings, film screenings, and creative exercises designed to help us unlearn colonial frames and think critically. Participants will leave the workshop with a nuanced perspective on Palestine’s geography, history, and architecture, and an in-depth understanding of the many worlds that make up the land—the nexus of continents—called Palestine. Participants will also leave the workshop with a toolkit (questions, exercises, and lessons) that can be applied to other Palestinian geographies not covered in the series, with a special focus on uncovering unwritten or untold stories of the ongoing Nakba.
