How to carry out reliable and enduring tooth restorations while ensuring high quality aesthetic outcomes demanded by patients? Dentapreg has the answer, and what’s more, our product technology also lets you restore teeth quickly and with a minimum of fuss. Fifteen years ago, Dentapreg set out to create a new class of composites known as ‘constructive composites’ which allow dental practitioners to build durable, aesthetic and highly flexible dental structures such as large restorations, splints and bridges. This has involved bringing aerospace technology into dental practices – aerospace grade glass fibers, as used in space shuttles, get impregnated with resin to create a material with unique properties.

What’s under the Dentapreg hooD?

When you open the Dentapreg product box, you’ll find thin, pliable, and slightly sticky strips of different cross-section in which strong, specially treated glass fibers are embedded in a dental resin used in many filling composites. The pliability of the strips means they can easily be formed into the desired shape, and they’re all ready to go for light curing – standard or LED curing lights are all you need to cure the resin on Dentapreg strips.
Treat it well and Dentapreg UFM will treat you and your patients well Careful storage is required if you want to get the most out of your Dentapreg UFM strips. If you use only a portion of the strip, then re-insert the remaining strip between the protective films, return to the blister pack closing the silver foil, and store in a dark place – preferably a refrigerator – where the product’s properties will be maintained for high quality performance for up to two-four weeks.

Dentapreg UFM – For flexible reinforcement and restoration Open a Dentapreg UFM packet and it contains three strips of the following specification: - Made of 10,500 multidirectional E-glass fibers, each strip is ultra-flat, with dimensions of 4-10 mm x 0.1 mm x 60 mm. That’s strip thickness of 0.1 mm – making it ideal for minimally invasive dentistry – and the strip can also be stretched between 4 and 10 mm in width, a feature designed to help prevent stress concentration and cracks propagating within a restoration.

Dentapreg PINPost – For tooth restoration following endodontic treatment or rebuilding a fractured tooth Dentapreg has developed more than just our traditional strips. Our flexible PINPost pins respect the natural biomechanics of the tooth, significantly reducing the risk of root fracture when restoring teeth following endodontic treatment. For such procedures, as well as fractured tooth restoration, using PINPosts instead of traditional posts makes the restoration procedure faster, easier and a lot more reliable. Dentapreg PINPost:
Dentapreg UFM’s flexibility combined with its strength lets you get to work on a range of different applications in restorative dentistry and minimally invasive prostethics:

Made of unidirectional S2-glass fibers, the Pin has dimensions of 0.45 mm x 20 mm (diameter x length) and comes pre-cured

Dentapreg PINPost comes in two forms: Dentapreg PINPost Small, containing 12 pins in a vial, and Dentapreg PINPost Large, containing 4 vials with 12 pins each.
Why is the Dentapreg strip 6 cm long? Over the years we have responded to recommendations from our customers and gone for a 6 cm long strip length as standard issue – among other things, this size is optimal for minimizing waste. If a clinical procedure does require a longer strip, then it’s possible to extend the length by placing and overlapping another strip next to the original.

Composite crown reinforcement in 12 step – Dentapreg won’t let you down For composite restoration to be successful there needs to be precise imitation of the original structure of the tooth. Dentapreg UFM has been developed to do just that – it’s able to mimic the tooth’s dentino-enamel junction, which allows occlusal forces to be spread across the crown, thus preventing cracks and boosting the longevity of large restoration.
Dentapreg simplifies and strengthens composite crown reinforcement, as demonstrated by these 12 simple steps: 1. Prepare the tooth for the crown, and ensure that the working area is dry
7. Remove the protective paper and plastic foil from the strip. Insert it into the uncured composite and adapt it to the tooth surface
2. Measure the required length of the Dentapreg strip using, for example, dental wax or dental floss
8. Now you’re ready to light cure the adapted Dentapreg strip – cure for 40 seconds per tooth.
3. Apply orthophosphoric etching gel on the tooth surface according to the manufacturer’s instructions, then rinse thoroughly and dry the working area once again
9. Then cover the Dentapreg strip with a layer of C&B composite, ensuring that the entire surface of the fibers is covered with composite
4. Apply a thin layer of an adhesive system on the etched surface of the tooth, then light cure the adhesive according to the manufacturer’s instructions
10. Now you can light cure the composite, according to the manufacturer’s instructions
5. You can now remove the Dentapreg UFM strip from the blister and cut it with scissors to the required len
11. You’re nearly there – build the crown from C&B composite according to the composite manufacturer’s instructions. Follow this by building the dentine parts of the tooth with dentine shades of composite and form the enamel parts with enamel shades. Remember to keep the cleaning spaces free.
6. Then you can proceed to cover the bonding area with a thin layer (approximately 0.5 mm) of C&B composite. But do not light cure yet!
12. Light cure the whole crown according to the composite manufacturer’s instructions, before proceeding to finish the crown: make sure to adjust it in the occlusion and then polish it. The crown restoration is now complete.

Key things to keep in mind: The Dentapreg strip can be handled with bare hands when it is contained between the two protective foils; but once these foils are removed, powder-free latex or nitrile gloves should be worn. For bonding, any two step resin-based bonding agent can be used. Dentapreg composition is compatible with most of the light-curing resin-based composites on the market today. Careful storage is required if you want to get the most out of your Dentapreg strip. If you use only a portion of the strip, then re-insert the remaining strip between the protective foils, return it to the blister pack closing the silver foil, insert it in the light-protection box included in the packaging, and store in a dark place – preferably a refrigerator – where the product’s properties will be maintained for high quality performance for up to a month.

Get to know our PINPosts – One very thin piece of Dentapreg kit goes a long way With a diameter of only 0.45 mm, Dentapreg PINPosts are ultra-thin yet firm and flexible – and it’s these qualities which can provide you with additional bang for your buck. Because our PINPosts let you tackle two quite different methods of restoration.
1. Minimally invasive endo posts The most successful restorations involve preserving as much of the original tooth structure as possible. This is critical when it comes to endodontically treated teeth which are likely to have been weakened by root canal therapy. While bulky and rigid posts require the root canal to be enlarged even further, and running the risk of perforating or weakening it, using a number of Dentapreg’s ultra-thin posts ensures that the crown is retained in position without weakening the tooth. With Dentrapreg PINPosts, the risk of a root canal fracture is significantly reduced. Moreover, Dentapreg PINPosts are so flexible and thin that they can adapt even to difficult shapes of the root. In other words, they present the true anatomical and minimally-invasive posts which fits any root canal perfectly.
2. Rebuilding a vital fractured tooth It’s been a standard practice for dentists to use metal pins when reinforcing fractured tooth restorations. However, as this type of pin tends to be visible under the applied composite, the aesthetics of the final outcome are clearly compromised. What’s more, metal pins do not chemically bond to the composite and can actually weaken the crown instead of strengthening it. Dentapreg’s thin glass fiber posts, pre-impregnated with resin, get round both of these problems and provide superior, minimally invasive results.

What if? Useful tips and hints with Dentapreg ultra-thin products WHERE SHOULD I INSERT DENTAPREG UFM MEMBRANE IN LARGE RESTORATIONS? The best position for Dentapreg UFM is in the place where the restoration is under the greatest load – you can either place it on the bottom of the restoration where it will protect it from polymerisation shrinkage, or you can use it as a substitute of DEJ (dentino-enamel junction) and place it roughly in the position of the original tooth’s DEJ. HOW CAN I REINFORCE CROWN BUILD-UP IN ENDODONTICALLY TREATED TEETH? Dentapreg PINPosts offer a minimally invasive solution to reinforce the crown build-up in endodontically treated teeth. To enhance the strength of the restoration, you can also place Dentapreg UFM strip on the core to mimic the dentino-enamel junction. This way, the stress is evenly distributed and doesn’t threaten the tooth’s root.
