In some cases, there is no getting around dentures, but there is now a way to get around the age-old denture problem of breakages and fractures. Dentapreg has created a product which revolutionises the reinforcement and repair of removable dentures. It’s called Dentapreg MESH, made from high-end glass fibers impregnated with heat-curing resin which chemically bonds directly to the acrylic denture dough. Dentapreg MESH gives dentures the desired toughness and elasticity without making them bulky and unaesthetic and prevents breakage caused by a fall or fatigue during long term chewing.

This short guide talks you through the whys and the hows of assured denture reinforcement with Dentapreg – it’s a true (and happy) story about false teeth that we’re delighted to bring to you.

Introducing Dentapreg MESH – For resistant and reliable denture reinforcement
Dentrapreg MESH is made from unidirectional E-glass fibers, and has dimensions of 60 mm x 0.5 mm x 80 mm. The 0.5 mm – that’s the thickness. Dentapreg MESH is thin, and that means improved comfort for patients. Thin appearances can, though, be deceptive. Dentrapreg MESH is also very strong. In fact, it’s five times stronger than a traditional non-reinforced denture and three times stronger than a denture reinforced with metal.

Stronger, thinner – and much more We’ve described how Dentapreg MESH is proven to be stronger than other denture base reinforcement options, and how this strength is matched by the product’s thinness and subtlety. Here’s what else you can expect from Dentapreg MESH:
The fastest ever application procedure The application procedure is much easier and faster than that of other reinforcing solutions. You need less than one minute to form Dentapreg MESH into the desired shape.

Crack prevention Dentapreg MESH reinforcement prevents stress concentration and subsequent cracking because it protects the denture in those areas which have to withstand the biggest stresses – the palatal or incisor regions. As a result, the reinforced denture has a much longer life span.
Outstanding aesthetics Dentapreg MESH provides a highly aesthetic solution, particularly when contrasted with a bulky metal mesh which usually shows through the acrylic. With its pink coloured fibers, Dentapreg MESH actually blends in with the colour of the denture. And don’t worry – if you use transparent acrylic, there is also Dentapreg MESH in transparent version, just for you.

Perfect chemical bonding Thanks to the special blend of heat-curing resin used for impregnating the glass fibers, Dentapreg MESH and the denture base are connected by a strong chemical bond. This bond results in exceptional mechanical resistance – and won’t let patients down. Fig.8: Mandibular denture with reinforcement

12 steps to stronger dentures Not only does Dentapreg MESH reinforce dentures with an unbeatable combination of toughness and elasticity, it is also very easy to use. Here is the 12-step run through of what you need to know to apply Dentapreg MESH in standard fashion. It’s surprisingly fast and the procedure is a lot easier than required for other denture reinforcing solutions.
1. Start by preparing a stone model usingthe standard procedure for the manufacture of removable dentures
7. Take the flask out of the press, open it and remove the foil
2. Take the Dentapreg MESH out of the bag, place on the provided parchment paper, put it in an oven or a dryer pre-heated to 140 °C / 290 °F. Take it outafter 90 seconds. The heated mesh becomes pliable. Alternatively, you can heat the sheet by ironing it with a regular iron
8. Cover the stone model with a thin layer of acrylic dough
3. Adapt the warm mesh immediately on the stone model. Wait until it cools down and maintains the desired shape
9. Place the shaped Dentapreg MESH into this layer. Make sure that the acrylic dough is spread under the whole surface area of the mesh. Be careful at this stage: the fibers must be completely covered with the resin dough
4. Cut the adapted mesh to the required shape with regular scissors
10. Close the flask and put it under the press
5. Apply a layer of acrylic resin dough on the half of the flask with teeth, cover it with the provided transparent foil, then close the flask
11. Heat cure it according to the dough manufacturer’s instructions
6. Place the flask under the press. Do not press it all the way, just enough that the layer of excess acrylic dough coming out is approximately 1-2 mm thick
12. Remove the denture and finish it in the usual manner

What if? Useful tips and hints with Dentapreg MESH HOW CAN I SAVE SOME MATERIAL? One sheet of Dentapreg MESH is sufficient for the reinforcement of two complete dentures. Naturally, partial dentures will save you even more material. Moreover, with Dentapreg MESH you don’t need to produce any waste – even the tiniest cut-outs can be used for reparation of broken dentures!
HOW CAN I HEAT THE MESH IN ORDER TO MAKE IT FORMABLE? You can use a pre-heated oven or a dryer (140 °C / 290 °F), a regular iron (covering the mesh with a parchment paper) or a heat gun on a low setting.
I NEED TO REINFORCE AN IMPLANT-SUPPORTED OVERDENTURE. Dentapreg MESH is perfectly suitable for the reinforcement of implant-supported overdentures. The only extra care compared to the regular denture is that you need to cut around the implant screws - it’s very similar to cutting around natural teeth in a partial denture.
