Mάζεψα τα πράγματα και περπάτησα μέσα στη βροχή. Η πόλη ετοιμαζόταν να σχολάσει και μέσα από τα ψηλά κτήριά της έβγαιναν άντρες με κουστούμια. Τα αυτοκίνητα γλιστρούσαν στη λάσπη, οι κόρνες τους εκνεύριζαν τους πεζούς που περίμαναν στα φανάρια. Στο πρώτο σοκάκι έστριψα δεξιά. Στην είσοδο μάντεψα το σωστό κουδούνι. PHOTO 34. Ανέβηκα τα σκαλιά και εκεί γνώρισα καμιά δεκαριά άγνωστους, από εκείνους που νιώθεις πως ξέρεις καιρό. Μοντέλα, φωτογράφοι, στυλίστες, μια γερμανοτουρκάλα make-up artist που μου μιλού-

σε στα ελληνικά, βοηθοί, φίλοι. Όλοι -και γω μαζί τους- σε μια ιδιότυπη παρέα, που την ένωνε ένα κοινό πάθος της στιγμής. Έτσι θυμήθηκα πως είναι να αγαπάς αυτό που κάνεις και συνειδητοποίησα πως μου αρέσει αυτό που κάνω, όσο τίποτα άλλο. Βγήκα στη βροχή να πάρω μια μπύρα από το κιόσκι. Οι δρόμοι έσφυζαν ακόμη από κίνηση. Πέντε τουρκικές λίρες για μια μπύρα Efes, μια κλεφτή ματιά στον μπουκωμένο ουρανό της πόλης και ξανά πίσω. Έτσι κι αλλιώς, δεν είχα κάπου καλύτερα να πάω. Η φωτογράφηση είχε ήδη ξεκινήσει.

πό τη μία βλέπεις τα κορίτσια με τα έντονα κόκκινα χείλη σε μία απόλυτη ομοιομορφία υπό την καθοδήγηση του Terence Donovan, που παραπέμπουν στα "πλαστικά" κορίτσια απαράμιλλης ομορφιάς του Guy Bourdin και από την άλλη βλέπεις ένα δανδή που θα ταίριαζε σε οποιαδήποτε δεκαετία κι αν τον τοποθετούσες χρονικά. Το "Simply Irresistible" του Robert Palmer συνοψίζει μία ακαταμάχητη εποχή, μία διαχρονική αισθητική και έναν ανυπέρβλητο ερωτισμό. Ο Robert Palmer γεννήθηκε στην Αγγλία, στις 19 Ιανουαρίου 1949 και "έφυγε" σε ηλικία 54 ετών. Τραγουδούσε, έπαιζε κιθάρα, ξεκίνησε σόλο, αργότερα συμμετείχε στα γκρουπ DaDa και Power Station, μετά ξανά σόλο και από το 1986 ξεκινάει να εξαπλώνεται η φήμη του και παγκοσμίως. Η μουσική του, από jazz και blues μέχρι soul, reggae και bossa nova, ενώ στα βιντεοκλίπ φάνταζε ως ο απόλυτος playboy με τα κοστούμια του Armani (αν και προτιμούσε περισσότερο αυτά του Gianfranco Ferre), ένας ακαταμάχητος συνδυασμός. Το 1988 το 1ο single που αναδεικνύεται μέσα από το άλμπουμ Heavy Nova είναι το "Simply Irresistible" κι αν το τραγούδι έγινε γνωστό για το ρυθμό και τους στίχους του, μεγάλο μέρος της υστεροφημίας του το οφείλει φυσικά και στην εικόνα που του έδωσε ο Donovan - όπως είπαμε και στην αρχή. Όπως συνήθιζε να λέει και ο ίδιος ο Palmer, δεν χρειάστηκε να κάνει πολλά,

απλά να κουνάει το στόμα του για περίπου15 λεπτά. Χρειαζόταν όμως κάτι περισσότερο απ' αυτό; Δεν θα μπορούσα να φανταστώ κάτι άλλο εκτός από την εικόνα αυτού του καζανόβα να μας ξελογιάζει τόσο δυναμικά και αποφασιστικά, αλλά με έναν "ψιθυριστό" τρόπο. Ο Palmer ανήκε στην κατηγορία αυτών που τα έλεγε ωραία και ήταν και ο ίδιος ωραίος, έκανε τον εθισμό να ακούγεται ρομαντικός και το ξελόγιασμα σαν το πιο αγνό φλερτ. Υπάρχουν κάποιοι άντρες που ακόμη και τα πιο κλισέ τα κάνουν να φαντάζουν μοναδικά. Πόσο απλά ακαταμάχητο είναι αυτό; Δεν θα ήταν συγκλονιστικά ωραίο και αβανταδόρικο να χρησιμοποιούσαμε περισσότερο τη λέξη "ακαταμάχητος" (είτε ακαταμάχητη ή ακαταμάχητο); Δεν θα ήταν συγκλονιστικά ωραίο να είχαμε βρει όλοι αυτό το ακαταμάχητο στη ζωή μας;

n one side you had these red lipped beauties, moving in unison under the direction of Terence Donovan, looking like something Guy Bourdin would think up and on the other side you had this dandy-like figure who really could have come from any decade. That was Robert Palmer’s “Simply Irresistible”, a song that epitomized an unforgettable time, a timeless sense of style and an irresistible sense of eroticism.

Palmer was born in England on January 19th 1949 and checked out at the age of 54. He sang, he played guitar, started out as a solo artist before moving on to DaDa and Power Station, then switched back to solo status before the world really got wind of him in 1986. His sound took on jazz, blues, soul, reggae and bossa nova, while his style, as he strutted along in his videos with his Armani suits, was playboy-esque, a knockout combination if there ever was one.

In 1988, Simply Irresistible is the first single off his Heavy Nova album, and though the song became famous for its standout rhythm and lyrics, it's Donovan’s guiding hand that gave it its image and ultimately, its timeless feel. Like Palmer himself admitted, he didn’t actually have to do much other than move his lips for fifteen minutes. But did he actually need to do more than that?

It’s hard to think of something more than just that, a Casanova seducing you so completely, in that inimitable, almost whispering tone. Palmer was one of those men, who talked the talk and looked good doing it, a man who could get you hooked on romance, a man who could make you feel as if being seduced was the most innocent of flirtations. How irresistible is that? Would it not be truly fantastic if we could use that word, irresistible a whole lot more? Would it not be amazing if we could all find that single irresistible thing in our lives?

ίγοι παραγωγοί της ηλεκτρονικής μουσικής καταφέρνουν να κυκλοφορήσουν μουσική που θα εγκρίνουν ομόφωνα οι δισκοκριτικοί. Από τα rock

Mojo & Uncutt, στις χιπστερ βίβλους quietus και pitchfork και έως στις dance αυθεντίες Resident Advisor και Mixmag οι ειδικοί συμφωνούν : το “Drone Logic” του Daniel Avery είναι ένας θαυμάσιος δίσκος που δεν μοιάζει σε πολλά με ότι κυκλοφορεί εκεί έξω. Δίσκος του σήμερα και όχι φόρος τιμής στο ένδοξο παρελθόν. Καθόλου άσχημα για ένα ψιλόλιγνο Βρετανό από το Bournemouth που ήταν ένα κλασσικό indie kid και του οποίου η βραδιά Trash του Erol Alkan του άλλαξε τη ζωή. Το λες και μουσική δικαιοσύνη το ότι ο τελευταίος κυκλοφορεί τη μουσική του μέσα από το σπουδαίο label Phantasy και αποτελεί έναν από τους μεγαλύτερους υπέρμαχους του. Όχι ότι είναι και ο μόνος : ο «πολύς» Andrew Weatherall μιλούσε δημοσίως με θαυμασμό για το «πουλέν» του πριν τον μάθει ο υπόλοιπος κόσμος. Ο Daniel, εδώ και χρόνια resident του Fabric και compiler μιας από τις καλύτερες συλλογές του γνωστού club τα τελευταία χρόνια, είναι φίλος της Αθήνας , έχοντας έρθει 3 φορές στο παρελθόν ως καλεσμένος του party Yes it does!!Sure it does!!. Και τώρα που σιγά, σιγά γίνεται μεγάλος και τρανός έρχεται να το γιορτάσει με τους φίλους του στις 6 Δεκεμβρίου σε μια μοναδική βραδιά που συνδιοργανώνουν το Yid!!Sid!! και το αθηναϊκό φεστιβάλ Plissken .

F

ew electronic music producers manage to produce work that is greeted with positive reviews from across the board. From the rock oriented Mojo and Uncut, to the hipsterific Quietus and Pitchfork and all the way to the dance music gurus of Resident Advisor and Mixmag, everyone seems to be in agreement. Daniel Avery’s “Drone Logic” is a marvelous record that has very little in common with anything else out there at the moment. It is a record very much rooted in the “now” and not some homage to the past. Not bad for a lanky indie kid from Bournemouth, whose life was changed by Erol Alkan’s Trash nights. Alkan himself, who puts out his own work on the magnificent Phantasy label, is one of his greatest promoters. And he is not alone. The mighty Andrew Weatherall, always talked highly of his “protégé”, before the world caught wind of him.

Daniel, who has for years been a resident at Fabric and was the man who put together one of the club’s best ever compilations, is a fan of the city of Athens, having been here three times already as a guest of the Yes it does!! Sure it does!! Parties. And now, with his fame climbing to new heights, he will be back to celebrate with all his friends on the 6th of December , with an event set up by Yid!!Sid!! and the Athenian based Plissken festival.

It doesn’t get any kitsch-ier!

πικεντρωμένο στη θυελλώδη σχέση του Λιμπεράτσε με τον Σκοτ Θόρσον, το «Behind the Candelabra» του Στίβεν Σόντερμπεργκ είναι η αποθέωση του κιτς στη συσκευασία μιας mainstream queer ταινίας – περίπου - για όλη την οικογένεια. Το «Behind the Candelabra» γυρίστηκε για λογαριασμό του HBO. Οχι για κάποιο άλλο λόγο, αλλά γιατί κανένα μεγάλο στούντιο δεν μπορούσε να ανεχθεί το πόσο queer ήταν το σενάριο μιας ταινίας που, πέρα από οποιοδήποτε βιογραφικό ενδιαφέρον, στην ουσία αφηγείται την ερωτική σχέση δύο αντρών καθώς αυτοί βιώνουν την άνοδο και την πτώση μιας ολόκληρης εποχής. Ανισος σκηνοθέτης, ακόμη και στις καλύτερες στιγμές του, ο Στίβεν Σόντερμπεργκ δεν κάνει και πολλά, στήνοντας από την αρχή την υπερφορτωμένη με λαμπερά διακοσμητικά αντικείμενα έπαυλη του Λιμπεράτσε, γνωρίζοντας εξαρχής πως η δύναμη της ιστορίας του βρίσκεται στους δύο άντρες που τόλμησαν να δεχθούν δύο από τους δυσκολότερους ρόλους στην ιστορία του σύγχρονου σινεμά. Ο ένας είναι ο Μάικλ Ντάγκλας που στο ρόλο του Λιμπεράτσε είναι απλά σπαρακτικός. Με τον τρόπο που δεν γίνεται ποτέ γραφικός, αλλά σπέρνει πυροτεχνήματα ανθρωπιάς μέσα στα στραφταλιζέ κοστούμια του ήρωά του, ενσαρκώνοντας έναν άνθρωπο εξαρτημένο από την επιτυχία και τον έρωτα που αρνείται να πιστέψει στο οποιο-

δήποτε τέλος: της νιότης, της δόξας, του σεξ. Ο άλλος είναι ο Ματ Ντέιμον που στο ρόλο του ανθρώπου που σφράγισε τα τελευταία χρόνια του Λιμπεράτσε παίζει ταυτόχρονα τον εραστή, τον φανατικό θαυμαστή και το ίδιο το αμερικάνικο όνειρο, κουβαλώντας στο μελαγχολικό του βλέμμα όλα αυτά που θα ήθελε να είναι για πάντα ο Λιμπεράτσε. Οταν βρίσκονται και οι δύο στην οθόνη, μεγαλουργούν περισσότερο από κάθε άρτια καλλιτεχνική διεύθυνση που προσπαθεί να αναπαραστήσει το κιτς σύμπαν του Λιμπεράτσε, πάνω και πίσω από τη σκηνή. Σε μια ταινία που αρνείται πεισματικά να φτάσει λίγο βαθύτερα, εκεί όπου οι άνθρωποι, γυμνοί από κάθε φανταχτερό ένδυμά τους θα αναρωτιούνται πάντα τι είναι αυτό που μπορεί να σε κάνει να αγαπήσεις τόσο δυνατά μέχρι να αγγίξεις την τρέλα και το μίσος.

F

ocusing on the tempestuous relationship between Liberace and Scott Thronson, Steven Soderbergh’s “Behind the Candelabra”, is an ode to kitsch in the handy packaging of a mainstream queer movie that the whole family can watch. Kind of.

“Behind the Candelabra” was filmed for HBO, for the simple reason that no major studio was willing to put its money behind a script that was deemed just too queer. The film itself, putting

aside any biographical elements, is in essence a run-down of the love affair between two men, as they live through the rise and fall of an entire age.

An uneven director even at his best, Soderbergh doesn’t do much, building Liberace’s overdone mansion from scratch, knowing full well that the strength of the story rests with the two men that dared to take on two of the hardest roles in the history of modern cinema.

Michael Douglas is simply heartbreaking as Liberace. He never oversells his role, but frequently launches flares of humanity behind the shiny costumes of his lead role, showing us a man hooked on his fame and a love that refuses to believe that anything can end, be it youth, glory or sex.

Matt Damon plays the role of the man who left his personal stamp on Liberace’s twilight years, playing the role of lover, fanatical devotee and the American dream itself, carrying in his eyes all that which he hoped that Liberace could be for all time.

When the two share the spotlight, they manage to shine through even the best of the film’s artistic direction, which tries to hit the high notes of Liberace’s kitsch universe, both on and off stage. It is however a film that stubbornly refuses to go a little deeper, to find that place where people, having lost all their glittering costumes, are left naked and wondering what could make you love so passionately, so as to touch madness and pure hatred. ριν λίγο καιρό κυκλοφόρησε κάτι πραγματικά ιδιαίτερο από τους Pleasurekraft, το tech-house duo που έχουμε συνηθίσει να βλέπουμε στις πρώτες θέσεις των charts.

Mε πάρα πολλούς θαυμαστές παγκοσμίως να ανυπομονούν, οι Pleasurekraft επιτέλους ανεβάζουν το “Sinister Strings” στην κεντρική σκηνή του ανανεωμένου label τους Kraftek.

To “Sinister Strings” έρχεται να ολοκληρώσει μία εξαιρετικά επιτυχημένη χρονιά για το ντουέτο, οδηγώντας τους στην κορυφή όλων των ειδών μουσικής των Charts του Beatport. Πρώτη ήρθε η tech-house συνεργασία με τους Jaceo & Vedic στο American Hustle, που παραμένει κλασικό hit στα sets του Richie Hawtin, όπως και το remix τους για το Cajmere στο The One. With a worldwide fan base screaming out for its release for over a year now, Pleasurekraft finally push 'Sinister Strings' to the centre stage of their newly relaunched Kraftek label.

'Sinister Strings' follows an extremely successful year for the duo, which has seen them dominate all aspects and genres of the Beatport charts. First up there

was the tech-house collaboration with Jaceo & Vedic on American Hustle, which still remains a staple of DJ's such as Ritchie Hawtin's sets. Other highlights include their remix for Cajmere on 'The One', their critically acclaimed collaboration with Format B for 'Coltrane' and the techno monster 313 (Detroit Calling) which can still be heard regularly across Carl Cox's sets. Most recently the boys have stormed the charts with their very own reworking of Josh Butler - 'Got A Feeling' (Pleasurekraft vs. Bontan Remix), which has spent a staggering 3 months in the Beatport Top 10, and their auspicious debut on Berlin's OFF Recordings with Chloroformd. 'Sinister Strings' then, has large shoes to fill, a task which the peak-time anthem is more than up to.

First previewed in the summer of 2012, the record has been lauded by fans worldwide as one to watch. Featuring ominous strings combined perfectly with a trademark Pleasurekraft hook, 'Sinister Strings' is a bold rework of a 90s classic-house anthem - and has future-classic written all over it.

With forthcoming tour-dates in Ibiza, France, Italy and the U.S. to name a few, Pleasurekaft continue their success across the globe and show no signs of slowing down.

Kάθε εποχή έχει τον δικό της παρία, το αποδιοπομπαίο τράγο, εκείνος ο οποίος πάει αντίθετα στα δεδομένα και τη ρουτίνα της εκάστοτε εποχής και δημιουργεί τη δική του ιστορία, το δικό του κίνημα. Οι παρακάτω υποκουλτούρες αφορούν μεν τη μόδα, μα δεν αποτελούν εξαίρεση στον κανόνα. Kατάφεραν να αντέξουν τη φθορά του χρόνου, και να επηρεάζουν τα δρώμενα της μόδας μέχρι και σήμερα.

1950s Beatniks Ένα κίνημα που αποτέλεσε ένα μεταπολεμικό ντελίριο για τα media. Αποστρεφόταν τον υπέρμετρο υλισμό και τα κλισέ της εποχής, τασσόταν υπέρ της απελευθερωμένης σεξουαλικότητας και τον πειραματισμό με ναρκωτικές ουσίες. O λόγος για τους Beatniks, οι οποίοι σηματοδότησαν την εποχή τους τόσο με το ιδιαίτερό τους στύλ όσο με τις αλλοπρόσαλλες συνήθειές τους. Οι δημοσιογράφοι τους αποκαλούσαν ψευδό-διανοούμενους ενώ έγραφαν γι'αυτούς: «ολοκλη-ρώνονται με το να συνδυάζουν πίνακες που θυμίζουν Dali, έναν μπερέ, γενειάδα τύπου van Dyke, ένα ζιβάγκο, ένα ζευγάρι σανδάλια και ένα σετ από bongo τύμπανα». Ονειροπόλοι, ασπάζονταν γνωμικά και ιδέες του Jean-Paul Sartre, μια γενία των άκρων, δίχως όρια και αναστολές.

A movement that caused a post war media delirium, the beatniks turned their back on jumped up materialism and the cliché ridden reality of their time and firmly planted their flag on the side of sexual freedom and drug related experimentation. They were the “Beat Generation”, graphically depicted in exploitation films of the time, who left their mark during their time with their standout style and eccentric behavior. Journalists labeled them pseudo-intellectuals saying of them: “they are happy in combining Daliesque painting, a beret, a Van Dyke beard, a turtleneck, a pair of sandals and a set of bongo drums”.

Dreamers to the last, they religiously held on to the ideas of Jean Paul Sartre, a generation of kids living on the edge, free from limits and inhibitions.

Θα μπορούσε να πεί κανείς ότι ένας ή μια mod (προέρχεται από τη λέξη modernist) αποτελούσε μια χαρακτηριστική φιγούρα κατά τη διάρκεια της δεκαετίας του 1960. Έναν γνήσιο αρσενικό mod, θα τον πετύχαινες σε κάποιο λονδρέζικο σοκάκι πάνω σε μια Vespa ή μια Lambretta, στιλιζαρισμένο a la dandy, με το χαρακτηριστικό trench coat και το αστείο μεν αλλά για τα δεδομένα της εποχής τεράστιο trend γεωμετρικό μαλλί-κράνος. Στυλιστικά, η θηλυκή mod, είχε μια πιο απλουστευμένη σιλουέτα. Θα την απολάμβανες να λικνίζεται ρυθμικά υπό τις μελωδίες των Kinks, των Beatles και των The Who, φορώντας ένα υπερβολικά κοντό φόρεμα που παραπέμπει σε ρέτρο ενδύματα της παιδικής ηλικίας και οπάκ καλσόν –όσο πιο έντονο το χρώμα τόσο το καλύτερο-. Αφέλειες, πολλές φορές το μαλλί κοντό a la garcon, ενώ το makeup με εξαίρεση τη περιοχή των ματίων, nude. Όταν δεν δούλευαν ή δεν χόρευαν στις pub και στα night clubs της εποχής, βρίσκονταν σε fashion boutiques, ενώ έτρεφαν μια ιδιαίτερη αγάπη σε αυτή της Mary Quant και στα παραδοσιακά tailor shops στην Kings Road, στο Λονδίνο.

Ορκισμένοι αντίπαλοι των Mod –οι διαμάχες των οποίων, αποτυπώνονται άκρως ρεαλιστικά στη ταινία του 1979 Quadrophenia. Ακούνε στο όνομα Rockers, αλλά και στα leather boys και ton-up boys. Στιλιστικά βρίσκονται στο άλλο άκρο, όπου σε αντίθεση με τον υπερβολικά στιλιζαρισμένο και «μαλθακό» Mod, o Rocker –απόρροια του Rockabilly με ελαφρώς στοιχεία Teddy Βοy- προτιμούσε το perfecto jacket, ένα απλό T-shirt, blue jeans και biker boots, ενω οι θηλυκές Rockers δε διέφεραν ιδιαίτερα από την αντρική φιγούρα. Λάτρεις του swing και της rock n’ roll μουσικής, τους Rockers σπάνια θα τους έβλεπε κανείς να απολαμβάνουν κάποιο Mod κομμάτι, καθώς προτιμούσαν ακούσματα τύπου Bill Haley and his Comets, Jerry Lee Lewis και Εlvis Presley. Και αν ο Mod προτιμούσε μια παραδοσιακή Vespa ή Labretta ο Rocker δε θα αποχωριζόταν μια Triumph Bonneville.

Ξεκίνησε ως ένα υπό-είδος της ρόκ σκηνής, αλλά αποτυπώθηκε και στο λεξιλόγιο της μόδας και του lifestyle. Κυμαίνεται στα πλαίσια του μινιμαλισμού που χαρακτηρίζει τη δεκαετία του 1990 –αν και τότε έγινε ευρέως γνωστό-, ύστερα από την υπέρμετρη υπερβολή των 1980s. Ο λόγος για το κίνημα του grunge, που αποτελεί ένα ακουστικό κράμα της rock, της metal και της punk μουσικής σκηνής. Προς μεγάλη έκπληξη πολλών, η αρχή δεν έγινε από τους Nirvana με τη κυκλοφορία του δεύτερου album τους “Nevermind” το 1991, και τους Pearl Jam μα από άλλα συγκροτήματα με βάση το Seattle όπως οι Melvis και οι Mudhoney. Την ώρα που η κοινωνία έχει συνηθίσει τον εξτρεμισμό του 1980 έρχονται τα λαδωμένα μαλλία, τα καρό πουκάμισα, τα σκισμένα second-hand blue jeans και τα all stars να συνθέσουν μια νέα και εντελώς διαφορετική σιλουέτα για τα δεδομένα της εποχής, τη grunge. Με το θάνατο του τραγουδιστή των Nirvana, Κurt Cobain, πέθανε και η υποκουλτούρα, αν και αυτό το χειμώνα έχουμε ποικίλες αναφορές από τότε.

One could very rightly say that the image of a mod (a shank on the word modernist), was very much the image of the 60s themselves. You would typically find a male mod down a London backstreet, his dandy looks, trench coat stylings and bowl haircut parked next to his Vespa or Lambretta. Stylistically, the female mod cut a far simpler figure. You would catch her moving to the sounds of the Kinks, the Beatles and the Who, wearing a startlingly short dress that harked back to retro kids clothing, opaque stockings, short, often boyish hair and very little make up, save for the heavily styled eyes. When they weren’t working or dancing in a pub or night club, you’d bump into them at a fashion boutique or down the King’s Road at some of the more traditional tailor shops.

Sworn enemies of the Mods – their clashes were immortalized in 1979’s seminal Quadrophenia- the Rockers, also known as leather boys and ton-up boys, were at the other end of the stylistic spectrum.

Unlike the overly stylized Mod, the Rocker – a combination of rockabilly culture and Teddy Boy stylings – would opt for a harsher, simpler look, with his perfecto jacket, simple t-shirt, blue jeans and biker boots. The female Rockers would rarely deviate from this pattern. Lovers of swing and rock n roll, Rockers would worship at the altar of Bill Haley and his Comets, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis, while their preferred mode of transport would again be a rather un-modlike motorcycle, like the Triumph Bonneville.

Grunge started life as one of rock music’s many subcultures, but was eventually assimilated in the fashion and lifestyle vocabulary. Staying close to the overall minimalism that the 90s held on to, as a way to hit back against 80s excess, grunge found its home somewhere between rock, metal and punk music.

What is surprising to many, is the fact that the movement didn’t start with Nirvana and Pearl Jam, but rather with Seattle based bands like the Melvins and Mudhoney. At a time when society was used to 80s extremism, in blew the grunge movement, with its greasy hair, plaid shirts, torn second-hand blue jeans and all-star shoes, to set up a brand new style.

It suffered a massive hit after the death of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, but it has shown a surprising resilience, holding strong and influencing the fashion world ever since.

o OZON RAW σε συνεργασία με τη Reebok Classic γιόρτασαν την ολοκλήρωση της καμπάνιας My City Story με ένα μεγάλο prive party. Ένας νέος urban χώρος στο κέντρο της πόλης, υπέροχη μουσική, γευστικά cocktails και ένα μοναδικό κοινό με την πιο ευχάριστη διάθεση ήταν τα βασικά συστατικά της επιτυχίας του My City Story Event. Ενός πάρτυ που πραγματοποιήθηκε για την κορύφωση της καμπάνιας #reebokclassics_mycitystory, η οποία δημιουργήθηκε μέσα από τη συνεργασία της Reebok Classic και του περιοδικού Ozon Raw. Την Τρίτη, 22 Οκτωβρίου, το Blank Urban Space στο Γκάζι γέμισε με δημοσιογράφους, στυλίστες, fashion editors, bloggers, καθώς και ένα δημιουργικό κοινό που λατρεύει την πόλη και την urban κουλτούρα. Oι δημιουργίες των οκτώ ambassadors που εμπνεύστηκαν από τη συλλογή Reebok Classics κέρδισαν τις εντυπώσεις του κοινού. Οι μουσικές των Amateur Boyz, και οι γεύσεις του mixologist Γιάννη Κοροβέση ανέβασαν τη διάθεση στα ύψη, ενώ η αποκλειστική συλλογή γυαλιών της Elizabeth Leau που βρισκόταν στο χώρο και τις καλλιτεχνικές φωτογραφίες της Ιωάννας Χατζηανδρέου, μας εντυπωσίασαν. Ο SER κατά τη διάρκεια της βραδιάς σχεδίασε ένα μοναδικό graffiti βασισμένο στο Reebok Classic παπούτσι και οι WOM απογείωσαν τη βραδιά με μία ανατρεπτική beatbox παράσταση. Αυτή η καμπάνια είναι αφιερωμένη στους ανθρώπους που εμπνέονται από την πόλη προκειμένου να ξεχωρίσουν και να πραγματοποιήσουν τα όνειρά τους μένοντας πιστοί στο πάθος τους. ZON RAW collaborated with Reebok Classic, to celebrate the culmination of the My City Story campaign with a sizeable private party. A brand new urban space in the

center of town, great music, wonderful cocktails and a unique crowd with the best kind of vibe, made up the ingredients that led to the success of the My city Story – Event.

On Tuesday 22/10, the Blank Urban Space in Gazi was filled to the rafters with journalists, stylists, fashion editors, bloggers, and a creative selection of people that love the city and its urban culture. They were all wowed by the creations of the eight chosen ambassadors, who were inspired by the Reebok Classics collection.

Music selections by the Amateur Boyz and the flavors presented by mixologist Yannis Korovesis, helped keep the spirits high, while the exclusive eyewear collection by Elizabeth Leau and Ioanna Hatziandreou’s artistic shots, were particularly impressive. It was then up to SER who designed a one-of-a-kind graffiti pattern based on a Reebok Classic piece and WOM with their beatbox show to really make the event take off.

The campaign went out to all those that are inspired by the city and use that inspiration to drive their dreams and stay loyal to what they are passionate about. The six videos created for the campaign, began surfacing one by one towards then end of October, and the eagerness and enthusiasm that created leading up to the closing event certainly vindicated our efforts.

ομάδα του περιοδικού OZON Raw παρουσίασε στις 30 Οκτωβρίου στο FRESH HOTEL Athens, το Fashion Room Service XL Edition.Το ξενοδοχείο άνοιξε τις πόρτες του στο κοινό για ένα ολόκληρο απόγευμα, όπου 30 συμμετέχοντες designers, labels και brands, επικοινώνησαν τις νέες συλλογές τους, παρουσιάζοντας τη δική τους ιδιαίτερη αισθητική, στο πιο εκλεκτικό και ενημερωμένο crowd της πόλης. Oι 30 designers φωτογραφήθηκαν με τη φιάλη της Absolut Vodka, τοποθετώντας την στη δική τους, ειδικά διαμορφωμένη γωνιά μετα αγαπημένα τους αντικείμενα. Το μινιμαλιστικό design του ξενοδοχείου και η κομψή αισθητική του, έγιναν για μία ακόμη φορά ο ιδανικός καμβάς προκειμένου να αναδειχθούν οι δημιουργίες των συμμετεχόντων με τον πιο εκλεπτυσμένο τρόπο. Για τις ανάγκες του event, τα δωμάτια του 7ου και 8ου ορόφου του ξενοδοχείου μετατράπηκαν σε mini showrooms, αποτελώντας τον πιο δημοφιλή τόπο συνάντησης με αφορμή τη μόδα. Οι καλεσμένοι του Fashion Room Service, φωτογράφοι, στυλίστες, δημοσιογράφοι, καθώς και buyers, μπόρεσαν να δουν από κοντά, να δοκιμάσουν ή και να αγοράσουν, δημιουργίες των αγαπημένων τους σχεδιαστών και brands. To Fashion Room Service ολοκληρώθηκε με ένα μεγάλο πάρτυ με DJ sets από τους Mano Mak και Bete Noir, στον 9ο όροφο του FRESH HOTEL. Στο χώρο του air lounge bar με θέα τη φωτισμένη Ακρόπολη, η Absolut Vodka προσέφερε, όπως πάντα απολαυστικά ABSOLUT cocktails στους παρευρισκόμενους. Χορός, πολλή μουσική, ευχάριστες συζητήσεις, άφθονο αλκοόλ και όμορφα πρόσωπα

n Wednesday November 30th, OZON Raw presented Fashion Room Service XL Edition at the FRESH HOTEL Athens.

The hotel opened its doors for an entire afternoon, allowing 30 participating designers to showcase their labels and brands and show off their particular aesthetic, to some of the city’s most eclectic and plugged in crowd. The 30 designers were photographed with the Absolut Vodka bottle, placing it between their favourite creations and objects. Once again, the hotel’s minimal design and elegant style, provided the ideal canvas upon which the designer creations could be better shown off.

During the event, the 7th and 8th floor rooms were transformed into mini showrooms, setting up an ideal meeting place for the fashion savvy crowd. Those who were among the guest of the Fashion Room Service, photographers, stylists, journalists and buyers, were allowed close quarter access to the creations of their favorite designers and brands. The event wrapped with a party on the 9th floor air lounge bar, where with the lighted up Acropolis looking on, Mano Mak and Bete Noir took over the decks and Absolut Vodka provided guests with delicious ABSOLUT cocktails. It was the perfect way to end the first month of fall and usher us in to the winter season with style.

H G-Star RAW, γνωστή για το πάθος της για υψηλή ποιότητα κατασκευής και ραφής του denim, μας φέρνει σε επαφή με την απόλυτη υπηρεσία customization που προσφέρει το label, σε επιλεγμένα καταστήματα σε όλο τον κόσμο, τώρα και στην Αθήνα. Αυτή την εμπειρία γνωρίσαμε μέσα από μία εξίσου customized εκδήλωση. Το ειδικά εξοπλισμένο Cabinet, "υποδέχτηκαν" πρώτοι οι Alex Kavvadias, Luna Stoner, Φώτης Βαλλάτος, Μαρία Παμπουκίδη και Γιάννης Σαμαράς, δοκιμάζοντας τις επιλογές που προσφέρει και δημιουργώντας τα δικά τους looks με τα customized jeans. Tους ambassadors του Raw Tailored Atelier φωτογράφησε η Ιωάννα Χατζηανδρέου για το OZON RAW. Το ιδιαίτερο shooting, μαζί με ένα βίντεο δια χειρός Demode/Video Cinema Productions, παρουσιάστηκε στo πλαίσιο ενός prive, invitation-only denim party που έλαβε χώρα στο THE MALL Athens, την Τρίτη 19/11 στις 7μ.μ., στο κατάστημα της G-Star Raw. Εκεί εκτός από τους 5 Αθηναίους που δοκίμασαν πρώτοι το atelier μας περίμενε ένα DJ set από την Στέλλα Καλησπεράτου και τα special Jeanger Raw cocktails του γνωστού mixologist Γιάννη Σαμαρά από το The Dalliance House. Την ημέρα της εκδήλωσης, 5 τυχεροί φίλοι του OZON RAW απέκτησαν κι εκείνοι το “προσωπικό” τους κλασσικό 3301 τζην από Red Listing denim, με χειροποίητο φινίρισμα από τους ειδικούς της G-Star.

sented RAW Tailored Atelier, through a one-of-a-kind project, with the help of five well known Athenians. G-Star RAW, who is famous for its passion for denim and high quality tailoring, bring us closer to the customization service the brand provides, in selected stores all over the world, and now in Athens. It’s this particular service that we had the chance to get to grips with.

Alex Kavvadias, Luna Stoner, Fotis Vallatos, Maria Paboukidis and Yannis Samaras, had the opportunity to experience the specially equipped cabinet service by G-Star RAW and create their own look and customized jeans.

These Raw Tailored Atelier ambassadors were photographed by Ioanna Hatziandreou for OZON RAW. The photo shoot, as well as the video clip of the customization process, shot by Demode/Video Cinema Productions were presented during a private, invitation-only party at THE MALL ATHENS on Tuesday 19.11 at 7p.m. at the G-Star Raw store.

The five selected Athenians greeted the guests who were also treated with Stella Kalisperatou's DJ set and the special Jeanger RAW cocktails made by Dalliance House mixologist Yannis Samaras.

Moreover, on the day of the event, five lucky OZON RAW readers also had the chance to win their own pair of classic 3301 Red Listing denim jeans and customize them according to their own taste.

Flatforms Vs Ordinary Shoes: Η πρώτη εντύπωση που σου δημιουργούν αυτά τα παπούτσια κατά κύριο λόγο δεν είναι και η καλύτερη. Ορισμένοι μπορεί να τα θυμάστε από τα παιδιά σας χρόνια, από φωτογραφίες γονέων ή από δικά σας βιώματα. Το μόνο σίγουρο είναι ότι αυτή τη σεζόν θα ανήκουν στη γκαρνταρόμπα –αν όχι όλων- της πλειονότητας των γυναικών. Το παραδοσιακό υπόδημα των γκεϊσών, το αγαπημένο παπούτσι του Ziggy Stardust a.k.a David Bowie κατά τη διάρκεια της δεκαετίας του 1970, η συνέχεια των creepers των Vivienne Westwood και Malcolm McLaren.Ο λόγος για τα flatforms. Θα μπορούσαν να χαρακτηριστούν ως ένα κράμα οριενταλισμού, punk και ντίσκο κουλτούρας. As first impressions go, these shoes don’t automatically blow you away. Far from it. Some of you may remember them form your younger years, from family photos, your very own experiences. What we do know is that this season, flatforms will be part of nearly every woman’s wardrobe. The traditional geisha shoe of choice, Ziggy Stardust’s very own favorite during the 1970s, the continuation of McLaren and Westwood’s creeper shoe, you could place them somewhere in between the orient, punk and disco culture. Despite efforts to class them as just another shooting star, flatforms are back and are looking to stay.

Fur Ιt Up: Λένε ότι μπορείς να δημιουργήσεις ένα άκρως εντυπωσιακό –στιλιστικά πάντα- σύνολο φορώντας απλά ένα ωραίο πανωφόρι, και η γούνα δε φαίνεται να αποτελεί κάποια εξαίρεση. Το μήκος, το χρώμα, το είδος και το ύφος του μαλλιού –οικολογική κατά προτίμηση- δε φαίνεται να έχουν σημασία, καθώς για άλλη μια σεζόν ποικίλοι σχεδιαστές φαίνεται να την προτιμούν, καθώς την παρουσίασαν σε κάθε της δυνατή παραλλαγή. Αποπνέει έναν αέρα από τα bohemian 1970s, λίγο glam από τα 1980s. Και ενώ η μόδα για το Φθινόπωρο/Χειμώνα υποβάλλει την ανδρόγυνη και την oversized σιλουέτα, έρχεται η γούνα να προσδώσει στο ντύσιμο μια πιο θηλυκή πνοή. Κάποιος μπορεί να την αγαπήσει ή να τη μισήσει. Choose your side. They say that one can present a truly impressive sense of style by just wearing a good coat. A fur coat is not an exception to that rule. The length of it, the style and the type of it do not seem to be that important. Whatever it is, fur seems to be topping the list for many designers this season, who have presented it in every form available. It touches upon 1970s bohemian chic, as well as looking towards 1980s glam. And even though fashion trends for the Fall/Winter season point towards a more androgynous and oversized silhouette, the fur coat comes waltzing in to share its rather more feminine take on things. You can love it or hate it. Choose a side.

Blue Jeans: Πριν αρχίσετε να σιγοτραγουδάτε το πασίγνωστο –πλέον- άσμα της Lana Del Rey, επικεντρωθείτε στο πρώτο μισό του στίχου. Blue Jeans. Ένα αντικείμενο, τη σημασία και αξία του οποίου εκθείασε μέχρι και αποθανών Yves Saint Laurent, ενώ φορέθηκε από υπέρλαμπρες προσωπικότητες όπως ο James Dean και η Grace Kelly. Ένα δημιούργημα που δε θα το δεις ποτέ στα don’t μιας σεζόν, το οποίο συνδυάζεται με όλα. Οποιοσδήποτε άνθρωπος που σέβεται τον εαυτό του, έχει στη γκαρνταρόμπα του έστω ένα παντελόνι jean. Παράλληλα, κάθε jean είναι μοναδικό για τον καθένα, είτε η βαφή του (αυτή η ιδιαίτερη απόχρωση του μπλε), ακούει στο όνομα indigo ή στο λουλακί που σβήνει κατά τη διάρκεια του εκάστοτε πλυσίματος, με αποτέλεσμα το κάθε παντελόνι να γίνεται μοναδικό, το δικό σου blue jean. It’s a fashion item that has been championed by the late Yves Saint Laurent and worn by some true greats, such as James Dean and Grace Kelly. You’ll never find jeans hanging around a season’s “don’t” list, since you can pretty much combine it with everything. Any person that respects his personal style has at least one pair of blue jeans hanging in their closet. Taking it a step further, each pair is unique , worn in the style you choose, each wash changing its color, making it ever more personal, ultimately your very own pair of blue jeans.

Τhe Coat: Ακόμη και αν ο βαρύς χειμώνας δεν έχει κάνει ακόμη την εμφάνιση του, το παλτό είναι και θα παραμείνει η καλύτερη επένδυση για το Φθινόπωρο/Χειμώνα. Και ενώ η οικονομική κρίση έχει πλήξει τις τσέπες όλων μας, δε σημαίνει ότι ισχύει το ίδιο και για τη γκαρνταρόμπα μας. Διότι ένας σοφός κάποτε είπε ότι «οι δύσκολοι καιροί χρειάζονται και δραστικά μέτρα», και ενώ οι περισσότεροι σχεδιαστές προτίμησαν τα παλτό να είναι ελαφρώς πιο boxy, πιο oversized, πιο ανδρόγυνα και μονόχρωμα –με μια ιδιαίτερη προτίμηση στις σκούρες αποχρώσεις- τολμήστε να κλέψετε τα παλιά σακάκια των αρσενικών της οικογενείας σας, τουτέστιν πατέρα, θείου, φίλου ακόμη και παππού. Even if we haven’t felt the heavier tones of winter just yet, coats have and always will be the best investment for the Fall/Winter season. And while the financial crisis has surely affected everyone’s pocket, the same does not necessarily apply to your wardrobe. For as a wise man once said “hard times call for drastic measures”. So yes, most designers may have gone for rather more boxy, oversized, androgynous, single color designs, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be practical and turn to some old family jackets gathering dust in a wardrobe. We’re sure your dad, uncle or grandfather won’t mind.

Η Fiona Halpin είναι μοντέλο και ζει στη Φινλανδία. Χτύπησε το κουδούνι μας ένα απόγευμα που έπεφτε ο ήλιος, αργοπορημένη για ένα casting που είχε τελικά παραταθεί. Μόλις την είδαμε συνειδητοποιήσαμε πως ήταν το ίδιο κορίτσι που πριν τρία χρόνια, παιδί ακόμη, φωτογραφιζόταν για πρώτη φορά, στο Ozon Raw. Fiona Halpin is a model and lives in Finland. She rang our doorbell, on a late afternoon while the sun was setting, for a casting call that had been delayed. Once we saw her, we realized she was the same girl who was photographed for the first time, three years ago, for Ozon Raw magazine. Πόσο καιρό ασχολείσαι με το modeling και πότε ήταν η πρώτη φορά που επισκέφθηκες την Ελλάδα; Ξεκίνησα να ασχολούμαι με το modeling στα 15. Το πρώτο μου ταξίδι στην Ελλάδα ήρθε όταν έκλεισα τα 16. Έχω επισκεφθεί την Ελλάδα άλλες δύο φορές για διακοπές. Ως μοντέλο, πρώτη φορά το καλοκαίρι του 2011. Θυμάσαι την πρώτη σου φωτογράφιση για το περιοδικό OzonRaw; Φυσικά. Έχετε μια υπέροχη ομάδα! Θυμάμαι πόσο αγχωμένη και ταυτόχρονα ενθουσιασμένη ήμουν όταν ξεκίνησα. Ήταν μια ζεστή μέρα – πολύ ζεστή μέρα- και η φωτογράφιση έγινε σε μια ταράτσα. Θεωρώ ότι αποκόμισα πολλά από αυτή τη φωτογράφιση και συχνά αναπολώ εκείνο το editorial. Πως ένιωσες όταν το πρώτο σου τηλεφώνημα για casting σε έφερε στα νέα γραφεία του OzonRaw; Εκείνη την ημέρα είχα μια φωτογράφιση πριν το casting, με αποτέλεσμα να φτάσω στα γραφεία πάρα πολύ αργά.. Ήμουν ενθουσιασμένη για το casting και περίεργη να δω κατά πόσο έχει μείνει ίδια η ομάδα ή όχι. Ήθελα να δω τι μπορεί να έχει αλλάξει. Πολλά άλλαξαν. Όταν εν τέλει έφτασα, με δεχτήκατε παρά την καθυστέρησή μου. Με χαροποίησε ακόμη περισσότερο το γεγονός ότι με θυμόσασταν και χαρήκατε που με είδατε. Επίσης λάτρεψα τα νέα σας γραφεία Πηγαίνοντας πίσω με το μυαλό σου, θεωρείς ότι έχεις αλλάξει πολύ τα τελευταία χρόνια; Πιστεύω ότι μέσα στα τελευταία τρία χρόνια που ασχολούμαι με το modeling έχω αλλάξει και έχω μεγαλώσει αρκετά. Τα ταξίδια μου σε νέα μέρη μου δίδαξαν πολλά πράγματα, πόσο μάλλον οι εμπειρίες που αποκόμισα. Θεωρώ ότι αυτά τα τελευταία χρόνια, έπαιξαν μεγάλο ρόλο στη διαμόρφωση του σημερινού μου χαρακτήρα. Οφείλω να πω πως είμαι πολύ πιο ώριμη από το κορίτσι που γνωρίσατε τρία χρόνια πριν. Όταν θυμάμαι το πρώτο μου ταξίδι έχω ένα μεγάλο χαμόγελο γιατί ήταν μια υπέροχη εμπειρία αλλά και το σημείο εκκίνησης για την καριέρα μου ως μοντέλο. Όταν κοιτάζω πίσω συνειδητοποιώ πόσο έχω εξελιχθεί από

τότε. Πιστεύω πως είμαι το ίδιο άτομο, μόνο που τώρα ξέρω ποια πραγματικά είμαι. Μπορείς να εντοπίσεις διαφορές ανάμεσα στο street style της Φινλανδίας και αυτό της Ελλάδας; Θεωρώ ότι και τα δύο είναι κατά κάποιο τρόπο παρόμοια άλλα ταυτόχρονα πολύ διαφορετικά. Ένα κοινό τους σημείο είναι ότι οι άνθρωποι έχουν το δικό τους, προσωπικό στυλ, κάτι που μου αρέσει πολύ. Μια τεράστια διαφορά ανάμεσα στο ελληνικό street style και αυτό της Φινλανδίας είναι ότι στην Ελλάδα μπορεί κανείς να συνδυάσει φθινοπωρινά ρούχα, παπούτσια κ.λ.π με πολλούς τρόπους, καθώς η μετάβαση από τη ζέστη στο κρύο είναι σταδιακή. Στη Φινλανδία, το στυλ είναι πιο... «Σκανδιναβικό», δηλαδή εξαρτάται αρκετά από τον καιρό. Ποιες χώρες έχεις επισκεφθεί μέχρι στιγμής δουλεύοντας ως μοντέλο; Η αλήθεια είναι ότι δεν έχω ταξιδέψει οσο θα ήθελα λόγω των σπουδών μου. Αποφοίτησα την Άνοιξη, και αποφάσισα να κάνω δύο χρόνια διάλειμμα από τις σπουδές μου για να ασχοληθώ εξ ολοκλήρου με το modeling. Έχω επισκεφθεί μόνο την Αθήνα, την Κωνσταντινούπολη και τη Βαρκελώνη.

How long have you been modeling? When did you first come to Greece? I started modeling at 15. My first trip to Greece was when I turned 16. I’ve been here two more times for vacation. My first time here as a model, was during the summer of 2011.

Do you remember your first photoshoot for Ozon RAW Magazine? Of course. I can recall every detail.

Such a wonderful team you have! I remember I was a bit nervous but excited, when we started. It was a hot day –a very hot day- and we were shooting on a rooftop. I believe I have learned a lot from that shoot and I always look back on that editorial.

How did you feel when your first casting call brought to you to the new Ozon Raw headquarters? Well, I had a shooting before the casting that day, so I arrived really really late. I was extremely

happy about the call and looking forward to finding out whether the same team was still around or not.

I wanted to see what could have changed. A lot has.

When I finally arrived, you guys were nice enough to take me in for the casting despite being late. I was even more pleased when I realized you remembered me too, and were happy to see me. Plus, I loved the new headquarters.

Cast your mind back a bit. Do you think you have changed a lot throughout these years? During these three years I believe that I have changed and grown up a lot, yes. Traveling in new places has taught me a great deal of things, not to mention the experiences I’ve gained. I think these last years have played a major role in helping me become who I am right now. I must tell you I’m far more mature than the girl you met three years ago. I look back on my first trip with a big smile on my face since it was an amazing experience and the starting point of my career as a model. Looking back makes me realize how much I’ve learned and evolved since then. I think I’m still the same person, though now I know who I truly am.

Can you spot any differences between the street style in Finland and Greece? Both street styles are kind of similar, but in a way quite different. One thing in common is that most people have their own, personal style. Something I really like. A massive difference between the street style in Greece and in Finland, is that in Greece one can combine autumn clothes and shoes, boots, etc in various ways since you have a gradual development from your hot days to your cold ones. In Finland the style is very “Scandinavian-ish”, which translates into “very dependent on the weather”.

Which countries have you visited so far, working as a model? Well, I have not been able to travel as much as I want because of my studies. I graduated in spring and decided to take a couple of years off from university, in order to become a full time model.

I have only been in Athens, Istanbul, and Barcelona.

O Timothy Fairplay είναι ο ένας εκ των δύο Asphodells, μαζί με τον Andrew Wetherall, καθώς και μέλος του βρετανικού Scrutton Street Axis Studio με τους Scott Fraser, Sean Johnston, Richard Fearless και Daniel Avery. Aσχολείται με τον εν λόγω τομέα από τότε που ήταν 17 χρόνων, aρχικά συμμετέχοντας σε μπάντες, όπου έπαιζε κιθάρα. Έχει σπουδάσει φιλοσοφία, αγαπά όμως περισσότερο τη μουσική. Timothy Fairplay is one of the two Asphodells, together with Andrew Wetherall, and also a member of the british crutton Street Axis Studio next to Scott Fraser, Sean Johnston, Richard Fearless and Daniel Avery. Ποιος ήταν ο πρώτος δίσκος που αγόρασες; Πρέπει να ήταν κάποια συλλογή σαν το “Best of Elvis”. Μου άρεσε πολύ το rock n’ roll όταν ήμουν μικρός. Προτιμάς έναν αναλογικό εξοπλισμό ή τη βοήθεια του υπολογιστή; Και γιατί. Μου αρέσει να δουλεύω με synthesizers και drums παρά με έναν υπολογιστή. Ηχογραφώ και μιξάρω με υπολογιστή βέβαια άρα χρησιμοποιώ και τα δύο. Απλά βρίσκω πολύ πιο διασκεδαστικό να δουλεύω με τον πρώτο τρόπο, και πιστεύω είναι πιο εύκολο να δημιουργείς πιο ενδιαφέροντες ήχους. Επειδή υπήρξα κιθαρίστας, κατά κάποιο τρόπο εκτιμώ περισσότερο τη φυσική πλευρά της παραγωγής μουσικής: να συνδέεις καλώδια, να ανεβάζεις την ένταση μέχρις ότου να παραμορφωθεί ο ήχος, αυτό το αποτέλεσμα. Φαίνεται να δίνεις μεγαλύτερη προσοχή στο οπτικό και στο καλλιτεχνικό κομμάτι που συνοδεύει τα projects σου. Πιστεύεις ότι ένα αντίστοιχο οπτικό concept βοηθά στο να «περνάς» τη μουσική σου στον ακροατή; Ναι, απόλυτα. Υποθέτω πως στο μυαλό μου έχω πάντα τη μουσική μου ως soundtrack σε κάτι. Ποτέ δεν έκανα μονάχα ένα ρυθμό για club απλά για να κάνω τους ανθρώπους να χορεύουν, καθώς η αισθητική είναι πολύ σημαντική για μένα. Θέλω το καλλιτεχνικό κομμάτι έστω να παραπέμπει σε αυτό που εκφράζει η μουσική. Πολλοί είναι εκείνοι που αντιμετωπίζουν τη μουσική σα μια αφηρημένη μορφή τέχνης, το μισώ αυτό καθώς οι ήχοι έχουν δημιουργηθεί από φυσικά αντικείμενα που βρίσκονται εκεί έξω. Για ποια παραγωγή σου ή πρόγραμμα είσαι περήφανος; Υπάρχουν αρκετα. Για παράδειγμα το “The Final Reel”, το οποίο βγήκε με το Bird Scarer, είναι αγαπημένο γιατί είναι τόσο ευρύ, έχει ζωντανούς ήχους και κινείται μέσα από πολλές διαφορετικές διαθέσεις. Το ΕP “Spook Juke” από Antoine Rouge EP θα κυκλοφορήσει σύντομα, είναι ένα ακόμη, εν μέρει γιατί θεωρώ ότι τα τέσσερα κομμάτια που έχει δένουν ωραία μεταξύ τους. Βρίσκεσαι σε μια αρκετά στενή συνεργασία με τον θρύλο της dance μουσικής σκηνής, Andrew

Weatherall. Τι θεωρείς ότι έμαθες μέσα από αυτή τη συνεργασία σας; Ο Andrew με έμαθε πολλά σχετικά με τη κλιμάκωση ενός κομματιού-κάτι με το οποίο ανέκαθεν πάλευα. Στο παρελθόν η δημιουργία ενός τραγουδιού για μένα σήμαινε η σύνθεση του κουπλέ/ρεφραίν/κουπλέ/ρεφραίν. O Andrew με έμαθε να ξεκινήσω έναν ρυθμό και να τον αφήσω να εξελιχθεί. Προτιμάς τις πιο εκκεντρικές ταινίες της μεγάλης οθόνης. Θα ήθελες να γράψεις το soundtrack για κάποια ταινία; Εάν μπορούσες να δουλέψεις πάνω σε μια ήδη υπάρχουσα ταινία, ποια θα ήταν; Οι περισσότεροι άνθρωποι θεωρούν ότι προτιμώ τις ταινίες τρόμου, κάτι που δεν ισχύει εντελώς. Υποθέτω πως μου αρέσει το trash σινεμά, ιδιαίτερα εκεί που οι ταινίες «δεύτερης διαλογής» συναντούν τις πιο «καλλιτεχνικές». Θα ήθελα να γράψω το soundtrack κάποιας ταινίας, αλλά θα πρέπει να είναι η κατάλληλη . Σίγουρα δε θα ήθελα να γράψω κάτι για κάποια απαράδεκτη σύγχρονη ταινία με διαμελισμούς. Σίγουρα θα έγραφα νέο soundtrack για το “Shivers” του David Cronenberg, ή κάτι σαν το “Westworld” ή τίποτα για καταθλιπητκές ταινίες του 1970/1980 όπως το “Southern Comfort” ή το “The Osterman Weekend”.

What was the first record you bought? Was probably something like a best of Elvis. I was really into rock and roll as a small child.

Are you more into analog gear or computer work?

And why is that. I am more into working with synths and drum machines than just with a computer. I do record to, and mix in a computer so I use both really. I just find it more enjoyable to work that way and I do think it’s easier to make really cool sounds. I used to be a guitarist, so I think I somehow value the more physical aspects of music production: plugging stuff in, turning things up till they distort, feedback.

You seem to focus a lot on the visuals and artwork that accompany your projects. Do you believe a

matching visual concept is important for the way the sound comes across? Yeah totally. I suppose my music is always in my head the soundtrack to something, I never just make a club tune purely to make people dance. The aesthetic is very important to me.

I want the artwork to at least allude to what the music expresses. Some people focus on music as an abstract art form. I hate this, sounds are made by physical objects out there in the world.

Which production and/or set are you proud of?

There’s a few things. The Final Reel' which came out on Bird Scarer is a bit of a favourite because its so expansive, live sounding, and also moves through a number of different moods. The Antoine Rouge 'Spook Juke' EP which is out any time now on Crimes of the Future, is another- partly because I feel the four tracks on there just go really well together.

You are in a close working relationship with dance music legend Andrew Weatherall. What's the one piece of knowledge you have gained from this partnership? Andrew taught me a lot about arrangement. Ιt was something I always struggled with. With my past being more in song writing, meant my arrangements where a bit verse/chorus/ verse/chorus. Andrew taught me about starting a groove and letting it roll.

You're into the more oddball oeuvre of cinema.

Would you welcome the opportunity to compose a film soundtrack? If you could work on an existing movie, which one would it be? People generally think I am into horror films, but that’s not explicitly the case. I suppose I like trash cinema and particularly the “place” where the b-movie meets the art house film.

I would love to do a movie soundtrack but it would have to be the right film. I would definitely not want to do some awful modern slasher film. I'd love to do a new soundtrack for 'Shivers' by David Cronenberg or something like 'Westworld' or one of those bleak 70's/80's movies like 'Southern Comfort' or 'The Osterman Weekend'.

Συνέντευξη:Δανάη Τερζάκου Interview: Danae Terzakou Θεωρείς ότι η μόδα αποτελεί μια μoρφή τέχνης; Εξαρτάται από το πώς την αντιλαμβάνεται κανείς. Για κάποιους θεωρείται τέχνη. Για μένα αποτελεί το κατ’ επιλογή μου δημιουργικό έργο. Δε θέλω να τοποθετώ αυτό που κάνω σε τέτοιο βάθρο, δε θέλω να το υπερ-αναλύω. Ακόμη προσπαθώ να νιώσω πλήρης, κάτι που θεμελιώνεται μέσα από τις δικές μου διεργασίες, ενώ σιγά-σιγά κατάλαβα ότι δεν είναι και τόσο καλή ιδέα, για μένα, να οργανώνω μια συλλογή ή έστω να ακολουθώ μια θεματική. Όποτε προσπάθησα να εφαρμόσω κάτι τέτοιο, κατέληγα πάντα μπερδεμένος, καθόλου παραγωγικός και εν τέλει «ακινητοποιημένος». Έχει υποθεί παλαιότερα ότι πάσχω από κάποιο είδος ιδεοψυχαναγκαστικής διαταραχής, αλλά ποτέ δε πήγα σε κάποιο ειδικό να το επιβεβαιώσω, έτσι αφήνω τον εαυτό μου να χαθεί μέσα στα patterns καθώς σιχαίνομαι το σχέδιο. Δε σχεδιάζω, καθώς τα patterns μου αποτελούν τα σκίτσα μου. Λατρεύω να ζωγραφίζω patterns –βρίσκω τον δικό μου τρόπο να τα ζωγραφίζω υπέροχα σε επίπεδη μορφή-, πραγματικά εαν υπάρχει κάποια μορφή τέχνης σε αυτό που κάνω, θα έλεγα ότι βρίσκεται μέσα τους. Προσπαθώ να τα καταγράψω όσο καλύτερα μπορώ έτσι ώστε μια μέρα να κάνω κάτι με αυτά, δε ξέρω ακόμη τι! Τι είναι αυτό που σε συναρπάζει περισσότερο, όταν δημιουργείς ένα ένδυμα; Η όλη διαδικασία του να επεξεργάζεσαι ένα pattern σε ένα body, είναι μακράν το αγαπημένο μου σημείο καθώς όπως είπα και παραπάνω, δε μου αρέσει να κάνω σχέδια και ποτέ δε ξέρω τη κατάληξη κάποιου και προσμένω για εκείνη την ημέρα που θα πρέπει να κάνω μόνο αυτό. Δεν είμαι επιχειρηματίας και ούτε έχω επιχειρηματικό μυαλό, μα στη τελική θα συμβεί και αυτό και τότε είναι που θα πρέπει να σταθώ στα πόδια μου ως σχεδιαστής. Αν δεν ήσουν σχεδιαστής, τι θα ήσουν; Μια από τις αγαπημένες μου παιδικές αναμνήσεις από το σχολείο, ήταν όταν μας ζητήθηκε στη τάξη να ζωγραφίσουμε τους εαυτούς μας στη δουλειά που εμείς θα θέλαμε να κάνουμε όταν μεγαλώναμε, βέβαια δε θυμάμαι πόση σκέψη κατέβαλα αλλά κατέληξα ότι θα ήθελα να είμαι ένας σερβιτόρος πάνω σε roller-skates -στο σημείο που με απεικόνισα ως ένα κορίτσι με μια μακριά, ξανθιά κοτσίδα- φαντάζομαι μου άρεσαν πολύ τα roller-skates. Όταν ήμουν παιδί, δε θυμάμαι κατά πόσο ερωτήθηκα κάτι τέτοιο. Aνέκαθεν θεωρούσα τον εαυτό μου δημιουργικό και αμφιβάλλω αν θα μπορούσα ποτέ να επιτύχω κάτι μη καλλιτεχνικό, συνεπώς θα έκανα πάλι κάτι που θα αφορούσε την τέχνη ή

ακόμη το μεγαλύτερο μου πάθος, τη μουσική. Ανέκαθεν θεωρούσα τον εαυτό μου ως έναν ανήσυχο μουσικό, συνεπώς και θα αισθανθώ πλήρης μόνο όταν ηχογραφήσω ένα album, ή έστω ένα κομμάτι. Αν σου δινόταν η ευκαιρία να συνεργαστείς με κάποιο brand ή σχεδιαστή ποιo/ος θα ήταν; Προς το παρόν, δε μπορώ να πω ότι θα ήθελα να συνεργαστώ –με όλη τη σημασία- με κάποιον, καθώς είμαι πολύ κλειστός ως σχεδιαστής και έχω τον δικό μου, περίεργο τρόπο να κάνω πράγματα, μα θα το ήθελα πραγματικά να σχεδιάσω μια capsule συλλογή για κάποιο brand. Έχω πολλές καλές ιδέες για prints, όλη την ώρα. Συνήθως δημιουργώ ένα print για κάθε συλλογή, έτσι έκανα και με τους Urban Outfitters, όπου έδωσα ένα σχέδιο μου και το αναπαρήγαγαν, έτσι κάποια στιγμή θα ήθελα να κάνω μια σειρά εξ ολοκλήρου με prints, είτε για μένα είτε για κάποιο brand. Πέρα από τα ρούχα, αποτελεί όνειρο ζωής να σχεδιάσω μια συλλογή από παπούτσια. Είμαι πιστός ακόλουθος των Dr Martens και θεωρώ ότι η αισθητική των ρούχων μου έχει τη δυνατότητα να μεταφραστεί και σε κάποια αντίστοιχη σειρά από παπούτσια/μπότες, και να δένουν σε κάποιο total look.

Aν τα ρούχα σου ήταν κάποιο τραγούδι, ποιo θα ήταν; Θα έλεγα το “The Faster I Breathe The Further I Go” της PJ Harvey, με encore από το ‘Lunar Camel’ των Siouxsie & The Banshees. Η απόλυτη τελειότητα.

Do you see fashion, as a form of art? Fashion is what you make out of It. For some it is art. For me it is my chosen creative output. I don't like to put what I do on such a pedestal for I don't like to over-think it too much. I’m still trying to feel fully grounded within in my own processes, while I’ve slowly come to realize that it is not a good idea for me just to plan a collection or even have a theme. Whenever I have tried to do so I become confused and unproductive and ultimately grind to a halt. It has been suggested that I may have OCD but I’ve never had it confirmed. So I just let myself go straight away on patterns, I hate to draw anything beforehand. I don't make sketches, for my patterns are my sketches. I LOVE drawing up patterns -I find my own way of drawing them really beautiful in flat form- in fact if there were any art in what I do, I’d say it lies within them. I try to document them as well as I can, so one day I can do something with them, I don't know what!

What excites you the most, while conceiving-creating an outfit? The whole process of a new sample from pattern to body is my favorite thing of all, because as I said before I don't plan too much and I never know how things are going to manifest really. I just long for the day when that is the only part of the process I have to do. I am not a business man nor my brain function in that way at all but eventually it will happen and that’s when I should really come into my own as a designer.

If you weren't a designer, what would you be? One of my favorite early memories was at school being asked as a class to draw a picture of ourselves in a job we would like to do when we grew up and I don't remember exactly how much thought I put into it but I decided I would like to be a waitress on roller-skates, I even drew myself as a girl with a long blonde ponytail, I guess because I really loved roller-skating. When I was a kid, I don't remember if I was ever questioned on this but I really like that memory. In all seriousness though, I've always been creative as a person and I doubt I could ever have achieved anything outside of a creative industry so some other medium within art or my other big passion music. I've always considered myself a bit of a frustrated musician and I won’t be fulfilled in life unless at some point I manage to record an album or at least one track.

If you were given the opportunity to work with a brand or a designer, who would that be? I'm not sure I would like to work with anyone else in a totally collaborative way at present because I'm such an introvert as a designer and I have my own strange way of doing things. I would certainly be happy to design a capsule collection for another brand. I have lots of great print ideas all the time. I used to do one print for each collection, as I did with Urban Outfitters which I gave to them and they would have produced for me so at some point I would like to produce an entire print collection either for myself or another store.

Aside from clothing it would be a dream of mine to design a collection of shoes. I'm quite loyal myself to Dr Martens and I think that the aesthetic of my clothes would translate really well into a shoe/boot collection for them and work well altogether as an entire look.

If your clothes were songs, which would they be?

My dream song - PJ Harvey's 'The Faster I Breathe The Further I Go' with an encore of Siouxsie & The Banshees 'Lunar Camel', pure perfection.

All the beautiful lies that make up this world are being swallowed, one by one into the depths of oceans, whose streams are made of consciousness; a consciousness as a sort of unending awakening. Though a gift, this realization contains the ponderousness of a titan who tenderly shatters the lethargic lovers, dreamers, with its truth.

On certain days you reach running the titan's shadow, wait for him to turn around, as he senses the smell of unashamed, courageous uncertainty that is threaded in your knitted clothes; the ones you wear when your name's phosphorescence, faintly gleams in the lists of tomorrows –parties– of routine driven animals, dancing to shallow sounds of nothingness.

I too, must confess, like chasing titans. I like the feasibility of an acted morning/evening death, between cups of coffee, or bourbon shots. And I like the only demand of this act: withdrawal from the front line of imposed existence. Was I asked if I liked the bonus falls that follow daydreaming? Was I asked if I wanted to meet you, or them?

To be honest, what my childish firmness is most fond of, is the feeling of being dragged to the bottom of the ocean, by waves bigger than me, and rising up, with bruised skin, looking for my clothes, trying to catch my breath, as the most thundering and sincere laughter of survival, and joy, leaves my chest. A laughter resembling a roar, a deafening roar, a boisterous, rambunctious roar.

A real laughter that has after all, fooled the titan.

So there you go, chase or fool, glorify or mock, leave your breath, or catch your breath, die in life or live in death.

Destroy the Titan.

Πλέον έχει ως βάση του τη Νέα Υόρκη, αλλά συμμετέχει σε φωτογραφίσεις και catwalk σε πάρα πολλές χώρες. Ilias Petrakis started working as a model, while he was still an athlete and since then, has seen his career really take off. Πόσα χρόνια ασχολείσαι με το modelling; Ασχολούμαι σχεδόν δύο χρόνια full time. Πότε έκανες την πρώτη σου φωτογράφηση και το πρώτο catwalk, θυμάσαι; Πριν από 4-5 χρόνια είχα κάνει editorials και catwalk, στην Ελλάδα, όπου με χρησιμοποιούσαν σαν αθλητή. Ποια δουλειά σου εκτόξευσε την καριέρα σου; Νομίζω ότι οι καμπάνιες της Gas και του Philipp Plein, μου εξασφάλισαν μια σταθερότητα στα bookings μου. Ποιος είναι ο αγαπημένος σου σχεδιαστής; Δύσκολο να επιλέξω μόνο έναν. Από τους αγαπημένους μου πάντως είναι οι: Martin Margiela, Etro, Philipp Plein, και ο οίκος Balmain. Σε ποια χώρα πιστεύεις είναι καλύτερα τα πράγματα για ένα διεθνές μοντέλο; Θεωρώ ότι ο τελικός και δυσκολότερος στόχος είναι η Νέα Υόρκη από όπου ξεκινούν και τελειώνουν όλα. Πρέπει πάντως να καταλάβει ο κόσμος ότι σε αυτή τη δουλεία δεν έχει κάποιος πάντα συγκεκριμένη βάση. Γενικά κάποιες δουλειές γίνονται μόνο και μόνο για το prestige και κάποιες για τις χρηματικές απολαβές που προσφέρουν. Τι θα συμβούλευες τα νέα παιδιά που κάνουν τώρα το ξεκίνημά τους στο χώρο; Θα τα συμβούλευα να μην φοβούνται να τολμήσουν και να ρισκάρουν και φυσικά να είναι προετοιμασμένοι και δυνατοί για να μπορέσουν να αντεπεξέλθουν σε αυτή τη δουλειά. Ποια είναι η πιο σημαντική εμπειρία σου ή κάτι που σου έμεινε αξέχαστο σε μεγάλη πασαρέλα ή φωτογράφηση; Σίγουρα το catwalk του οίκου Missoni ήταν μια πολύ σημαντική εμπειρία για μένα. Επίσης αξέχαστο θα μου μείνει το πρώτο μου direct call, όπου με πήραν τηλέφωνο και μου ανακοίνωσαν ότι πετάω σε τρεις ώρες για δουλειά! Ακόμα πολύ ξεχωριστή ήταν η τρομερά μεγάλη παραγωγή που υπήρχε στη καμπάνια του Philipp Plein. Έγινε στην 5th Avenue, με πάνω από 200 άτομα να δουλεύουν, και πολύ μεγάλα σκηνικά όπως τεχνητή βροχή κλπ. Τι θεωρείς πως σε έκανε να ξεχωρίσεις; Δεν ξέρω αν όντως είμαι ξεχωριστός. Αυτό που μπορώ να σου πω με σιγουριά, είναι ότι είμαι αυθεντικός και δεν προσπάθησα ποτέ να γίνω κάποιος άλλος. Προσπαθώ να είμαι πάντα επαγγελματίας και να κάνω τη δουλειά μου όσο καλύτερα μπορώ και ίσως αυτό έχει συμβάλλει στο να ζητούν οι πελάτες εμένα συ-

γκεκριμένα. Το feedback του πελάτη, όπως και το ευχαριστώ του είναι η απόλυτη πληρωμή για εμένα. Το να χτίσω ένα όνομα και μια ιστορία, θεωρώ ότι είναι αρκετή κληρονομιά για μένα.

How many years have you been modeling? I’ve been doing it full time for two years now.

Do you remember when your first photo shoot and catwalk show was? I did my first editorials and catwalk shows about 4-5 years ago, when I was mostly used as an athlete.

Which job really launched your career? I think the Gas and Philipp Plein campaigns helped to truly establish me and get me more regular bookings.

Who’s your favorite designer? It’s hard to pick just one, but among my favorites are Martin Margiela, Etro, Philipp Plein and Balmain.

Which country do you think offers the best conditions for an international model? I think the ultimate and hardest destination is New York where everything starts and ends, but you have to understand that in this line of work you don’t really have a stable base. In general, you have jobs that you do for their prestige and some that you do for the money.

What would your advice be for someone trying to get into your line of work? I would advise them to take chances and be strong and prepared. You have to be to survive this job.

What’s the one experience that you still find to be unforgettable? Definitely the Missoni catwalk show, which was a very important moment for me.

My first direct call was also very important, as I answered my phone and was told to be on a plane in three hours for a job! Another is the huge production behind the Philipp Plein campaign. It was shot on 5th Avenue, with over 200 people working on it and huge sets.

What helped you stand out? I don’t know if I would put it that way. What I can say is that I’m true to myself and have never tried to be someone else. I always try to be professional and do the job to the best of my ability and maybe that has made clients ask for me specifically. The client’s feedback and his thanks are the best form of payment I can receive. To build a name and leave a mark on the industry, would a great form of legacy for me.

SPRING SUMMER O σχεδιαστής Six Lee , ιδρυτής και chief designer του ομώνυμου brand, ήταν ο πρώτος απόφοιτος κινέζικης καταγωγής της Royal Academy of Fine Arts, της Αμβέρσας, το 2009. Ο επόμενος χρόνος τον βρίσκει στο Λονδίνο, στο σχεδιαστικό crew του Alexander McQueen, για την αντρική σειρά του οίκου. Το 2011 έστησε το δικό του brand, το οποίο έχει έδρα στο Βέλγιο. Η συλλογή του οίκου, για Άνοιξη/Καλοκαίρι 2014 απαρτίζεται από αυστηρές γραμμές, μοναδικές σιλουέτες, απαλά χρώματα και ιδιαίτερες λεπτομέρειες, στοιχεία που απαντώνται στο κλασσικό βρετανικό tailoring, έχοντας συνάμα μια μοντέρνα τροπή. Όντας αθεράπευτα ρομαντικός, προσπαθεί να περάσει τη τέχνη του και την ποίηση μέσα από τις δια χειρός δημιουργίες του. Ο Ernesto Artillo είναι ένας γνωστός fashion illustrator, o οποίος καταφέρνει να μπλέξει οτιδήποτε αφορά τη μόδα με λουλούδια, αναγεννησιακούς πίνακες, αρχιτεκτονικές δομές και τοπία. Το αποτέλεσμα είναι άκρως σουρεάλ και μοναδικό. Ο Ernesοt Artillo, ισπανικής καταγωγής, ξεχωρίζει από τους λοιπούς illustrator λόγω του μοναδικού του ύφους, ενώ υποστηρίζει ότι οι αναφορές του είναι φωτογραφίες που πάρθηκαν από τον ίδιο. Το αποτέλεσμα της συνεργασίας τους είναι πραγματικά συγκλονιστικό.

MMXIV COLLECTION Lee, who is the founder and chief designer of the SixLee brand, was the first Chinese graduate from the well-known Royal Academy of Fine Arts, in Antwerp, Belgium, back in 2009. A year on from that, he was in London, as part of Alexander McQueen’s design crew for his men’s line. He set up his own brand in 2011, based out of Antwerp. His Spring/Summer collection 2014 is presented with the traditional British take on tailoring, something which translates into clean cuts and sharp lines combined with soft colors, dreamy & boyish details, which result in truly unique designs. Artillo on the other hand is a well-established fashion illustrator, who manages to merge fashion imagery with flowers, cliffs, renaissance paintings or architectural structures, creating some beautifully surrealist work. Born and bred in Spain, he stands out from the rest of his field, due to his unique approach, which finds him using images he has taken himself along with found imagery. The result of these two artists coming together, is breathtaking, even for the hardest of cynics.

Ο Dimitri Arvaniti, γεννήθηκε στο Ντόρτμουντ της Γερμανίας το 1989 από Έλληνες γονείς. Είναι ο πρώτος Έλληνας που αποφοίτησε από το Royal Academy of Fine Arts της Αμβέρσας με διεθνές Master. Πες μας λίγα λόγια για την ιδέα πίσω από τη συλλογή σου “:crude”. Προσπάθησα να δώσω έναν πιο μινιμαλιστικό και σοφιστικέ χαρακτήρα, δημιουργώντας παράλληλα μια αντίθεση, χρησιμοποιώντας μπαρόκ τυπώματα του Rubens σε σκληρό PVC, τεχνητή οργάντζα και άλλα συνθετικά υλικά καθώς και πολυτελείς γούνες βαμμένες σε έντονα χρώματα. Θέλησα να φέρω το ψεύτικο σε αντιπαράθεση με την πολυτέλεια και να δώσω στη γούνα μια αίσθηση σύγχρονου ανδρικού ενδύματος που ξεφεύγει από το πανοφώρι. Οι χαρτοφύλακες αντικαθίστανται από clutches, οι γραβάτες δένονται σαν ζώνες του τζούντο και οι μπότες αποκτούν έντονους χρωματισμούς σαν ωδή προς όλους εκείνους τους απαίσια ντυμένους άντρες που κυκλοφορούν φορώντας παπούτσια με τετραγωνισμένες μύτες. Σε ό, τι αφορά τις φόρμες, η κολεξιόν έχει επιρροές από τη δεκαετία του 1990, τα R’n’B βιντεοκλίπ των TLC για παράδειγμα, δίνοντας μια αίσθηση κάπως σπορ με τα υπερμεγέθη κομμάτια (κομμένα τοπ, χαμηλόμεσα παντελόνια, φόρμες). Με κάθε σιλουέτα αμφισβητώ ακόμη και το αν θα τα φορούσα εγώ ο ίδιος ή όχι. Ο κύριος στόχος της συλλογής αποφοίτησής μου, ήταν να δημιουργήσω κάτι πιο «ενήλικο» (για τα υφάσματα), λιγότερο παραμυθένιο- και να αμφισβητήσω το αντρικό ρούχο, προβάλλοντας αυτό που θα ήθελα εγώ να προωθήσω ως άποψη. Συμφωνείς με τη δήλωση πως «τα αντρικά ρούχα είναι τα νέα γυναικεία»; Προσπαθώ να αγνοώ οποιαδήποτε ερώτηση έχει να κάνει με το φύλο και αφορά τη βιομηχανία της μόδας: έχουμε δει άντρες με φορέματα, γυναίκες και σμόκιν. Προσωπικά, λειτουργώ απλά ενστικτωδώς με μόνο μου μέλημα να έχει τη σωστή αίσθηση και να είναι όμορφο το αποτέλεσμα. Με ποιο τρόπο η προσωπική σου ιστορία συναντά τη φιλοσοφία της συλλογής σου; Δεν μου αρέσει να διηγούμαι συναισθηματικές ιστορίες με τα ρούχα μου μα υποθέτω πως δημιουργώ μια διάθεση με αυτά, οπότε αν το δούμε από αυτή την οπτική, αποτελεί πράγματι μια προσωπική και ατομική διαδικασία. Αν μπορούσες να αλλάξεις ένα πράγμα στο χώρο της μόδας, ποιο θα ήταν αυτό; Θα άλλαζα την αυστηρότητα και τη σοβαρότητα της δουλειάς μας και θα επικεντρωνόμουν στο να δημιουργήσω ευτυχία και ενθουσιασμό. Δεν πρέπει να ξεχνάμε πως ζούμε σε ένα κόσμο στον οποίο υπάρχει ακόμη οικονομική κρίση και πείνα.

Arvaniti Dimitri Arvaniti is Greek, born in Dortmund, Germany.

He is the first Greek to ever graduate from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, in Antwerp with a Master of all nationalities.

Tell us a few words about the idea behind your collection “: crude”.

I tried to bring a more minimal, sophisticated look in a contrast using baroque prints of Rubens on mesh PVC, techno organza and other synthetic materials as well as luxurious fur garments dyed in bright colors. I tried to confront fake with luxury and bring fur in a new sense of contemporary menswear, not just use it as outerwear.

Briefcases were replaced by envelope clutches, ties were bound like judo belts and biker boots in pop colors paid tribute to those awfully dressed men wearing square toe shoes.

Shape-wise, the collection is influenced by 1990's R'n'B music videos such those byTLC, giving the look a slightly oversized and sporty feel (crop tops, low waisted trousers, track suits) always questioning -with every silhouette- whether I would wear it myself or not.

The main aspect of my graduation collection was that I wanted to create something more grown up, (garment wise) less fairy like and question contemporary menswear in the sense of how I would like to push it forward.

Do you agree with the statement ‘menswear is the new womenswear’?

I try to ignore the sex gender question within the fashion industry: we have seen men in dresses, women in tuxedos. Personally I just act on instinct concerning what feels right and beautiful.

In what ways does your personal story meet the philosophy of your collection? I don’t like to tell sentimental stories with my clothes, but I suppose I am creating a mood, so in that way it’s a personal and individual process.

If you could change one thing in the fashion industry what would it be? I would change the strictness and seriousness regarding our work and focus on creating happiness and excitement. We shouldn't forget the fact that we live in a world where the economic crisis as well as world hunger still exist.

Greece / 22 / VN Models Απόφοιτος της Φιλοσοφικής Σχολής του Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών με ειδίκευση στη Γλωσσολογία. Πως κατέληξες από τη φιλοσοφία στο modeling; Ήθελα πολύ να ασχοληθώ με το χώρο της μόδας, έτσι κατέληξα στο modeling. Πολλοί είναι εκείνοι που θεωρούν ότι η δουλειά του μοντέλου είναι κάτι πολύ απλό- όμως για να επιβιώσεις, ένα όμορφο πρόσωπο δεν αρκεί. Πρέπει να διαθέτεις και προσωπικότητα. Eίναι ο χώρος όπως τον περίμενες; Ήμουν στο Μιλάνο για δουλειά και εκεί κατάλαβα ότι τα πράγματα είναι πολύ πιο δύσκολα αλλά και αξιοκρατικά. Προσπάθησα αρκετά για να ανταπεξέλθω όσο καλύτερα μπορώ. I really wanted to get involved with the fashion industry, so I started modeling. A lot of people think that it’s a rather simple job, but you can’t just be a pretty face. I was in Milan for work and it’s there that I realized that things were a lot harder than I thought but a lot fairer as well. I tried to do my best.
