RETIREE ROUNDUP On November 13, many smiling Ozinga Alumni faces joined together at Olympic Star Restaurant in Tinley Park, IL. There were plenty of new faces to the group this time! Thank you to everyone who has joined us this year, and we look forward to many more additions in 2022! When you work safe at Ozinga, you get to retire and do what you love. Below are some of our retirees enjoying their time doing what they love.

SO, WE ARE LIVE ON THE ERP By Keith Onchuck
Speaking of XBE, this is the new system for dispatching the haul trucks. It is currently being used by our Aggregates operation and will also be deployed for Cement transportation.

Finally, we have the Integra invoicing, cash posting and credit management running through D365 as well. Like any construction project, there are some bumps and learning curves that will be encountered. The Ozinga IT team is committed to making this the best system possible. Like you, we are still learning the system. Each day we improve, and the hope is this continues indefinitely. We are working with the Aggregate and Cement business units to clean up Apex, with the intention of integrating it into D365. The first phase is called AFISA (no, this is not when you say, “God Bless You”); it actually stands for “Aggregates Financial and Information Systems Alignment”. This phase officially started in November, and the focus is documenting the current state of business in Apex so we can build the future with Apex, D365 and XBE working in harmony. 4

KJ was dedicated to his position at Ozinga and was recently celebrated as one of the Chicago region’s 2020 All Stars. No matter what time of day or what the weather was, he was always the first to volunteer to deliver a load to our customers. He was also always focused on the welfare and morale of his coworkers, willing to step in and help whenever needed. Most importantly, though, KJ was committed to his wife, Laura, and their family.

INTERESTED IN JOINING A COWORKER RESOURCE GROUP IN 2022? At Ozinga, we know that you—our coworkers—are the heart of our company. Your diverse personalities, backgrounds and experiences shape our purpose-focused culture, and we expanded this across our regions and business units by piloting Coworker Resource Groups (CRGs) in 2021. These CRGs help build relationships, boost coworker engagement and celebrate what makes each of us unique. We have been able to get them up and running, and now we’re excited to welcome all Ozinga coworkers to join any and all groups that may interest you.
Alumni Group This group brings together retirees and alumni for discussions, activities and fellowship reminiscing on their time spent at Ozinga.
Ohana (Outreach/Care Group) When tragedy strikes, this group steps in to fill the gap and provide support in different ways, such as a word of prayer, meals, rides to work, hospital visits, etc. This group identifies the needs of our coworkers and finds ways to offer support.
Young Professionals Group This group is a place for young professionals to get to know their fellow coworkers from different regions and departments by participating in fun outings and serving as a space for sharing wisdom and advice.
Women’s Group This group provides opportunities for women to share common interests and engage with each other. Some ideas may include Bible study, craft groups, mentoring and participating in recreational outings. 8
Veterans Group This group provides resources, support and networking opportunities, such as mentoring, community outreach and career and personal development, for active or former military members.
Interested in joining one or more CRGs? Please fill out the form using the QR code. If you have any questions, please contact internalcomms@ozinga.com.
WHEN YOU NEED SOME EXTRA TLC, TURN TO OHANA Ohana is a volunteer group of coworkers who have a heart for our Ozinga community. We want to make a difference, to act out the core values of what it means to be a part of Ozinga, to make a positive impact, and we do this by providing a support system to our fellow coworkers when they need it most. If you are facing challenging circumstances, are in a season of struggle, or just need someone to talk to, you are not alone. We are here to provide encouragement, comfort and support. Whether it’s a meal, a ride, a care visit, respite, or just someone to listen, we would like to be there for you. Any conversations and situations will be kept strictly confidential unless permission to share has been given. Should you or one of your coworkers benefit from our support, please reach out to any of our volunteers. If you are unsure of who to contact or who is available in your area, please email chadsmits@ ozinga.com or carolynnkloese@ozinga.com and we will assist with getting you the support you need. 9
THANK YOU, SAFETY STARTERS We want to thank our Safety Starters for their dedication and leadership through the 4th Quarter Safety Blitz. With their help, we have performed more than 4,000 safety conversations. The Safety Starters took time out of their days to lead their respective locations to prevent incidents and go home safely.
