A MESSAGE FROM jeff To say 2020 has been one for the books is an understatement. Despite a pandemic, a shut down and yes, even the introduction of murder hornets, we persevered, we adapted and we forged ahead. This year, we made organizational changes to promote the One Ozinga approach to continue to live our purpose with our coworkers, customers and communities. We tried new technology with our coworkers, we made adjustments to the way we do business with our customers for enhanced safety, and we also took our Merry Mixer out of hibernation early to spread cheer throughout our communities. We have always said that Ozinga has the best people, and we are constantly reminded of this time and time again when a challenge is thrown our way. You—our people—always step up to those challenges with grace and humility, and we cannot thank you enough. I hope the new year brings you some excitement, good tidings and all the merriment your hearts can contain. Merry Christmas from our family to yours.

Florida Coworkers get CPR Certified
Alumni Boat Tour on the Gwyneth Anne
Performing CPR can help save someone’s life, but according to the American Heart Association, nearly 70% of Americans feel helpless to act in the event of a cardiac emergency. With that in mind, some of our coworkers in Florida completed CPR training. By learning these important skills, our coworkers can jump to action from bystanders to life savers.

Our coworker alumni group of 10 took a towboat tour in Chinatown. Everyone was delighted to board and watch the Gwyneth Anne tow a couple of barges along the seawall. Afterward, the group enjoyed lunch at the Mokena office where many memories were shared. Keep a hand free to hold onto something for support. The Ozinga safety department wishes you a happy – and safe – holiday season!
A group of eight retirees banded together last month to form the Coworker Alumni Group of Indiana. The length of retirement in the group spans from 1-20 years. Their next meeting will take place in December and will feature a special guest.

Survey Results & Manager Training 2020 Coworker Experience Survey As we continue to live out the Ozinga purpose and make a positive impact on individuals, their families and the community for generations, one way to measure the impact we are having is through our annual survey. This was our second year utilizing the Gallup Q12 survey comprised of 13 questions to measure a coworker’s overall satisfaction with Ozinga as a company and with their local team. Each question is scored on a scale of one to five, with five being best. Ozinga is then compared with thousands of other companies worldwide that have taken the survey and ranked as a percentile. A high score indicates a better experience, compared to

Tips & Tricks: Archiving Email in Microsoft Outlook
Next Level Solution
Archiving emails has changed over recent years. We used to archive onto PST files which would become corrupt or lost. Now we archive with a click of a button, and we have unlimited storage. Simply click on the email(s) you would like to archive and click the archive button. Doing this clears the email from your inbox and saves you from hitting the storage limit. When you need an archived email, just click on the archive folder within Outlook.

When it comes to decorative patios, concrete may not always be the first medium that comes to mind. Matt Meddaugh, president of Next Level Concrete, specializes in using his creative vision to transform concrete into works of art. Matt and his team at Next Level Concrete have won state awards for their work in decorative concrete. He adds next level finishes to people’s homes, businesses and cities that increase property value and elevate quality of life. “With every job I do, my mentality is pretty simple. This is MY house right now. What would I do; what do I want; what am I going to do to make the most of this space?” said Matt.
I want to spend time in the Netherlands and visit my ancestors’ towns and lands. How did you first learn about Ozinga? While working audio/visual at Trinity Christian College, I met Marty III a few times, and I was able to set him up with a wireless microphone and work through a few of his speeches at the college.
Matt uses Ozinga as his preferred concrete provider because we prioritize his projects and get materials to his site on time. He knows all of the Ozinga dispatchers by name and values the trusted relationship they have built. Next Level Concrete’s partnership with Ozinga has given homeowners a place to relax, enjoy their yards and entertain friends and family without breaking the bank.
What others are saying about Brian: What are three words to describe Brian? Friendly, helpful, easy-going When you think of Brian, what is your first thought? Camping Tell us a short story about Brian. Brian went all in for the Vitality steps challenge. I was trying to keep up, but he was going 20,000 steps per day, and it was amazing. He would come in, wiped out sometimes, but he kept up the pace. 8

THANK YOU FOR BEING A
Holdin’ a Spot for Holden Some of you may be familiar with Holden Mullen, the little boy who has been fighting a rare form of brain cancer (AT/RT) since his first birthday. Holden has been a part of the Ozinga community ever since we found out he loves ready mix trucks. Ozinga even took part in a large car parade for Holden in June. But more than just being a fan, Holden also holds a special place in the hearts of many of our Naperville drivers; many of them know Holden personally due to his frequent visits to the plant. George Hopman, operations manager, had a great idea to surprise the Mullen family with a designated parking spot for Holden at the Naperville yard. A second sign was given to the Mullen family as a gift. “Holden and his family have carte blanche at the Naperville yard,” said George. “Holden is like the mayor when he comes to visit.”
