“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”
- Mahatma Gandhi
It’s been another unpredictable year for all of us with supply chain issues, rising inflation and high food costs. The lingering effects of COVID-19 created a complex crisis for The Food Bank as we experienced an increased demand for food assistance, decline in food donations and disruptions in hunger-relief efforts. Many neighbors received food assistance for the first time, and families already facing hunger became more vulnerable as inflation continued to rise.
As southwest Missouri’s only food bank, we saw how high the stakes were for many of our neighbors, which is why we worked to ensure everyone had access to food. But we did not do this alone. It is the strength and capability of our network – and compassionate supporters like you – that helped us provide so many children, families and seniors with nourishment last year.
Every single gift to Ozarks Food Harvest makes a difference in the life of someone facing hunger. Your donations help Jennifer, who receives food from our Senior Mobile Produce Pantry. She said, “Ozarks Food Harvest helps us elderly people who’ve worked hard our entire lives but now need assistance. It’s a blessing and I hope everybody appreciates what you’re doing.”
Your kindness and sustained generosity helped Ozarks Food Harvest and our network of 270 community and faith-based partners provide 20 million meals to our neighbors in need last year.
We know the year ahead holds several challenges. Many families still need help getting back on their feet, and we are ready to provide the support they need. More importantly, we are ready to provide hope.
Thank you for supporting our mission to end hunger and your compassion for our neighbors in need. It is because of your trust and generosity that we continue to Transform Hunger into Hope.

“I'm a seventy-yearold woman that works part-time, and I’m on Social Security. The food I get from the Mobile Food Pantry absolutely helps me through the month. I could not do it without it. I appreciate this. Keep on doing it. You're helping so many people. Thank you.”
- Susan, received food through a Mobile Food Pantry
The Food Bank’s Mobile Food Pantry and Senior Mobile Produce Pantry provided food to nearly 52,000 people facing hunger with 1 million meals in FY22. The trucks traveled 16,000 miles to more than 100 distribution sites across 14 counties.
Ozarks Food Harvest helps individuals applying for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits. In FY22, SNAP helped provide 881,200 meals. The local economic impact is estimated to generate $4 million. This program provides 4,200 income-eligible seniors with healthy USDA food at senior centers, food pantries and churches across 28 counties. In FY22, volunteers assembled 49,000 boxes providing 1.2 million meals!

“There’s satisfaction in knowing that we’re helping others. At the end of the day, we have a sense of accomplishment. It makes us feel good.”
Ozarks Food Harvest leads the way for Feeding America food banks when it comes to its Retail Pick-Up Program. We were one of the first food banks in the U.S. to establish a program of this kind, serving as a pilot food bank for Walmart. The program partners with retailers to rescue food that is no longer sellable, but does remain safe for consumption.
Businesses, organizations, churches and individuals host drives and cause marketing promotions to help make meals happen. Did you know that in FY22, nearly 300 local partners helped provide more than 1 million meals through food drives, fundraisers and cause marketing campaigns?

“Without The Food Bank, I would not make it through the month. I live on a fixed income. My house payment and utilities pretty much take my whole check so I don't have the option to buy food at times, but this is my way of surviving. We just can't afford to make choices between food and paying our bills. So, thank you. Thank you to Ozarks Food Harvest because you literally keep us alive. ”

Sincere thanks to all fund and food drive donors who provided less than 200 meals.
The Full Circle Gardens program helped distribute nearly 90,000 lbs. of fresh, local produce in FY22.
“Ozarks Food Harvest has helped me immensely. I have had little help with food since the pandemic, and I've been very hungry. My children have been hungry, so when I get this box, it just is such a welcoming sight and it helped me so much. Thank you.”
- Individual receiving food at an Ozarks Food Harvest partner charity
In FY22, nearly 3,000 volunteers generously gave 28,095 hours to Ozarks Food Harvest. They processed nearly 5.3 million pounds of food. Whether these volunteers joined us monthly or weekly, their gift of time helped Transform Hunger into Hope for children, families and seniors facing hunger.
