WhenstudentspartnerwithOzarkChristianCollegetobetrainedforChristianservice,theyjoinacommunity guidedbytheauthorityofScriptureandadesiretoimitateChrist.Thiscommunityisconscientiousaboutthe pursuitofholylivingandhonoringtheimageofGodinallhumankind.Itisalsodedicatedtonurturingaculture ofgracethatwillfacilitatepersonalandspiritualgrowthasstudentsdeveloptheirGod-giventalentsand callings.
Paul’sinstructionstoTimothyaccuratelysummarizeOCC’sstudentexpectations:Beanexampletooneanother inspeech,conduct,love,faith,andpurity PayattentionandbedevotedtoScripture,aswellastheproclamation ofit.GrowthegiftsGodhasgivenyou.Watchyourlifeanddoctrineclosely.Bediligentinallthesematters andpersevereinthem(1Tim4:12-16).
ByenrollingatOCC,studentsagreetoupholdthevaluesofthiscommunityinalloftheirbehaviors,insideand outsidetheclassroom,by:
● Abidingbythecollege’smission,statementoffaith,positionsonthesanctityofhumanlife,gender, marriage,andsexuality,andallpoliciesstatedintheOCCCatalogandStudentHandbook(1Pet2:13).
● Communicatinginwaysthatbuildoneanotherup(insideandoutsidetheclassroom),avoiding discriminatory(includingtheological,racial,ethnicornationalorigin,gender,ordisability)and offensivelanguage(profanity,vulgarity,inappropriatejokes,obscenityorgeneralinsensitivityand incivility),notlying,notparticipatingingossiporslander,allthewhilebeingattentivetoone’stoneand attitude(1Cor12:12-13:13;Eph4:29;5:4;Col3:8-9;2Tim2:15-16).
● Strivingtoliveholylives,exercisingbothwisdomandphysicalstewardship,notusingtheirfreedomin Christasanexcuseforselfishorsinfulbehaviors,butinstead,refrainingfromthepurchase,possession, oruseofalcohol,marijuana,CBD,cannabis-derivedproducts,low-levelhempproducts,tobacco, e-cigarettes,JUUL,vapingdevices,orillegaldrugs(prohibitedonandoffcampus).Studentsshoulduse discretionifattendingrestaurants,gatherings,oreventswherealcoholisserved.Studentsarenot permittedtoattendbars,clubs,orothervenueswhereprimarilyalcoholisserved(Gal5:22-26;Eph 5:15,17-18;Heb12:14;1Pet1:15-16).
