LETTER FROM CEO
There are moments when the path feels uncertain. There are seasons when the weight is heavy. Yet in every trial, we are reminded: we are not defined by obstacles — we are refined by them.
This past year has not been easy. As economic conditions continue to evolve, families are encountering new obstacles alongside existing responsibilities. At OYC, we have felt that heaviness too. But what continues to move us forward is the resilience of our community and the extraordinary accomplishments we’ve achieved together. Families who once carried their struggles in silence are now leaning in, finding strength in connection, and trusting us to walk alongside them. That trust humbles us and deepens our responsibility

And despite the challenges, we have so much to be proud of. This year:
• 100% of our high school seniors graduated, and 81% enrolled in postsecondary education — proof that our persistence and expectations for excellence will propel our students forward.
• We provided nearly 60 workforce development sessions for adults, equipping them with tools, skills and confidence to withstand economic shifts.
• Overt 12,000 adults received services to help strengthen them and their families, a testament to their trust and belief in the power of community and partnership.
• We expanded health services, offering free healthcare access to the community -at-large, as well as fitness and nutrition sessions across Miami-Dade to increase the viability of our communities and curtail debilitating long-term health issues.
• We delivered more health screenings and culinary programs, helping adults adopt healthier lifestyles and live longer, stronger lives.
• Over 109,000 nutritious meals were served to our children afterschool and when students were out of school.
• Over 200 partners and volunteers helped us to accomplish this all that we were able to accomplish!
These milestones were not achieved in isolation. They represent the tireless commitment of our staff, the courage of our families, and the steadfast support of our partners and donors. Together, we created a stable and nurturing environment where children could still be children shielded from the full weight of family hardship; while adults found new pathways to thrive.
Our work continues to evolve because each day presents new challenges and opportunities. But what has not changed is our conviction: hope is not abstract. It becomes real when we act together.
The road ahead will not be without storms. Yet resilience is more than survival; it is the ability to prepare, to build, and to thrive no matter what lies ahead. And we cannot do this work without you.
As we step into a new year, I invite you; our partners, donors, and business leaders to renew, expand, or begin your commitment to OYC Miami. Your investment is more than a charitable gift; it is a promise to our children and families to create life-changing enrichment and experiences, to strengthen the workforce, to keep young people safe, and to build healthier communities.
To our founders, Alonzo Mourning and Tracy Wilson Mourning, our Board of Directors, our team, our volunteers, partners, and donors... thank you. Your unwavering belief in this mission has made all of this possible.
Yours in Service
