Dear Patrons, Welcome to our third season of phenomenal performances here in Oxford. Thanks to your support, we are able to bring some of the world's best performing artists to our stage. We are thrilled to announce the 2016 - 2017 season at the Oxford Performing Arts Center for your enjoyment. Now in its third year, the Black & Gold Concert Series will feature phenomenal performances including the Time Jumpers with Vince Gill, Three Dog Night, and Vanessa Williams. We will also be welcoming back Grammy Award-winning pianist, Jim Brickman, this December. The Atlanta Pops Orchestra will be back for an all-new show, An Irish Heart, featuring Chloe Agnew, formerly of Celtic Women. After our first successful Broadway series, we have partnered again with NobleBank & Trust to bring you even bigger shows in the 2016 - 2017 season. The series begins with The Broadway Boys featuring the stars of musicals such as Wicked, Les Miserables, and more! The quintessential backstage musical comedy classic, 42nd Street, will dance onto our stage in February 2017. In March, the Alabama Ballet will present Giselle, a beautiful piece of dance theatre. Winning eight 2012 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Once The Musical is a truly different and unique Broadway experience. The final show in the series will be the international Broadway sensation, Mamma Mia! The Musical. Considered a blockbuster hit on Broadway, Mamma Mia! will be staying overnight in Oxford for two performances! Based on the tremendous support for the arts in Oxford, we are partnering with Webb Concrete & Building Materials to present our first-ever Country Music series in 2016 - 2017. The all-new Webb Country Music Series will feature Scotty McCreery, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Josh Turner, Sara Evans, and Lonestar! The Center, located in Historic Downtown Oxford, has served educational and governmental functions of our city since 1921 as Oxford Elementary School, Oxford City Hall, and the Oxford Police Department. Its current mission is to continue to address the needs of our citizens as lifelong learners through the presentation of fine and performing arts. Our goal is to provide the greatest variety of artistic experiences as possible to our audiences in order for every patron to feel that each performance they enjoy is their most favorite. Eleven of the top studio-recording musicians in the Country Music world make up this eclectic Grammy-nominated combination. The Time Jumpers have collaborated with some of the biggest names in Country Music such as Reba McEntire, LeAnn Rimes, and Miranda Lambert. To list the artists these pickers have recorded and toured with would be tantamount to posting all the Billboard country charts for the past 30 years. Suffice it to say that the list ranges from Ray Price to John Anderson to Carrie Underwood. And the stages these luminaries have graced extend from the Grand Ole Opry to Carnegie Hall. That there are three fiddles in the band is a tipoff that these guys have an overwhelming affection for western swing. Twenty-time Grammy Award winner Vince Gill rounds out the group as one of the lead vocalists and guitarist adding his own unique talents to this already electrifying music experience.

The Atlanta Pops Orchestra is making its return to the Oxford Performing Arts Center stage. Now in their 71st Anniversary season of touring, the Atlanta Pops is teaming up with former Celtic Woman vocalist Chloe Agnew for an evening of music not to be forgotten. The Atlanta Pops Orchestra is best known for entertaining audiences worldwide with a diverse repertoire of arrangements from movies, Broadway shows, and popular tunes. Chloe Agnew has been making a name for herself in the entertainment industry since recording her first album at the age of 12. After touring with Celtic Woman for nearly ten years, she is now on her way to become a musical sensation all on her own. This special engagement features new arrangements written specially to show off her unique vocal range, along with the timeless sounds of the fabulous Atlanta Pops.
Vanessa Williams is one of the most respected and multi-faceted performers in entertainment today. She has conquered the musical charts, Broadway, music videos, television, and motion pictures, along with being crowned the first African-American Miss America in 1984. Vanessa Williams successfully made a name for herself on Broadway starring in musical hits such as ?Into the Woods? for which she was nominated a Tony Award, and the sensational 1994 revival production of ?Kiss of the Spiderwoman.? She?s scored five No. 1 hits, among them ?Suds in the Bucket,? ?AReal Fine Place to Start,? ?No Place That Far? and ?A Little Bit Stronger,? the title track of her chart-topping 2011 album Stronger. OXFORDCOMMUNITY CHORUS Presenting phenomenal concerts throughout the year, the Oxford Community Chorus features volunteer singers from the surrounding area. The current chorus consists of sixty singers with rehearsals once each week during the fall and spring.
